LOL...this will be an interesting next few days to see how Trump handles this...any other Repub Pres would have his AG resign by now...

@mystery-ak

He'll probably rip into Sessions privately.

Maybe we poll the members to see how many want sessions to resign?

@skeeter

His response to Franken was "I've been called a surrogate for the campaign, and I had no contact with the Russians."  Somewhere upthread I posted his exact words.

The written question and answer (from the Guardian):

"While the committee was considering his nomination, the panel’s top Democrat, Senator Patrick Leahy, also raised the issue of communications with Russia in a written questionnaire.

“Several of the president-elect’s nominees or senior advisers have Russian ties,” Leahy wrote, before asking Sessions point-blank: “Have you been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day?”

“No,” Sessions responded."

Although I may have missed it I've seen no information indicating Session's Russian contacts had anything to do with the election, or in any other manner than that required by his senatorial position. Which of course is the implication being leveled.

Flynn never should have resign, and Pence has no business sticking his nose into it. As I said at the time now that the globalist socialists (Democrats) got a head on the wall they will fabricate more fake stories to get more heads on the wall. This is war and the Repubs better start fighting.

Pence had no business sticking his nose into it? He was the person lied to wasn't he? And he's the VP. Next in line of succession.

I was very disappointed that Trump caved to the left and accepted Flynn resignation. I figured something else was going on. Often things are not as they seem, but Trump better have Sessions back on this or I will lose a lot of respect for him.

Pence did not handle this situation well.

What did he do? He seemed totally passive in it. Is Trumpy not a big enough boy to man up for his own decisions?

I agree.  No doubt Franken and a lot of other people in the room knew that part of Sessions' job is meeting with ambassadors.

I'm taking back my previous post in which I said Sessions should have been up front...that wasn't the right wording.  I think he should have specified that, of course, he met with them in his senatorial capacity, but as part of the campaign---no.  He ought to have known he was opening himself up to be trapped otherwise.

Pence was not lied to. Just as Sessions did not lie either. But maybe you NeverTrumpers will get another head of a good conservative to put on your wall. I sure that will make you happy. Yeah, might even be that no conservative will be willing to work in the Trump admin, that I expect would make you very happy. Lets just turn the whole damn thing over to Obama/Hillary. Happy now?

Claire McKaskill says she was on the same Armed Services Committee for ten years and never had a meeting with a Russian ambassador. Yet she tweeted about two: https://twitter.com/charlescwcooke/status/837303885664563200/photo/1

To late, the sharks are already circling, the fight he needed to win was over Flynn, but Pence blew that battle.

Exactly...everyone on Cap Hill had to know that the Russian Amb was on Cap Hill and meeting with Sessions...why Sessions didn't mention this is beyond me...the Dems have been waiting for this gotcha moment for weeks.

Because the question was about the Campaign, not about in his capacity as Senator.

Can you imagine how apoplectic the press would have been if Condi Rice would have moved in with the Bushes after he was in office??  There is something truly sinister going on.  Obama/Jarrett/Soros are our Axis of Evil.

I understand MO is a pretty conservative state.  You might get your wish at the polls next time.

Have been for quite some time! Going to have to be dealt with sooner or later!  Sooner is better IMHO!

And have been for a decade (officially).

It's time to wake up and smell the reality, America.  You either side with the enemy within (ie the Democrats, Obama, Clintons, Soros, etc.).... or you side with the right.  Your choice.  You choose the left, and you are now MY enemy.
No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.
