Streep has a face that belongs to the sea and the wind, with large horse nostrils and teeth that you just know bite an apple or a sugar cube every day.

True enough about her looks. I always considered her to have plain and even homely features. But so did Betty Davis. And I would not call either a terrible and overrated actresses.

Apparently the heads of Bellator and UFC weren't all that pleased with Streep's little screed.

Streep is a very good actress, but still overrated.  And that's saying something.

Most recent movie I saw with her in it was Florence Foster Jenkins, which was actually pretty hilarious.  She's good, but kind of full of herself even onscreen otherwise.  She did fit that movie to a "t", though.

Piers is an ignorant dolt with regards to the 2nd Amendment, but he nails it here...

"Sorry, Meryl but that hypocritical anti-Trump rant was easily the worst performance of your career (apart from that time you gave a child rapist a standing ovation)"

She has a tremendous range as an actress...unlike many other A-List Hollywood types.

But, all they do is speak lines somebody else wrote for them...with emotion.

Well, Trump is right about one thing.  Streep is vastly over-rated and her speech was cringe-worthy.

But he should have ignored her, as should we all.

Agree with that, of course, I don't watch award shows.

No denying she is a great actress but I can't stand her politics.

"Out of Africa" was a great flick-true story.

This dates me but the only movie I liked her in was Falling in Love.  She's just not that likable in her roles.

But she can make you despise her, as in Doubt.

Well, don't blame Bush for Obama... blame Maryland.

I do not blame Bush for Obama.   I blame Bush for not defending himself, and by extension, damning the entire Party.

I blame him for creating the atmosphere of Obama....the EIGHT YEARS of anti-Americanism sanctioned by our own mainstream media.

IMO, Bush "ignored it" while dutifully playing the role of Lame Duck after the 2006 mid-terms. Both he and his dad thought it was beneath them to forcefully advocate for their policies, to let others do their heavy lifting. Obama's (and Trump's) rise to power was a consequence of that.

Both Bush's, father and son, were "Presidential" and were replaced by democrats for President, Senate and House.

Later McCain and then Romney were "presidential," too. A lot of good, being "presidential" did.

Obama with his genteel speaking manner, marches us towards Marxism.

But Trump is tough and he won. Gen. George Patton was tough, too and he won.

Winning matters.

Sophie's Choice is amazing, IMHO.

Doesn't mean that I like her as a person, but she can act.

I was hoping his narcissistic disorder of taking credit for everything, and insulting anyone who disagrees with him would lesson after the nomination, but it seems to be getting even worse now that he's on a bigger stage.

@musiclady

Very good movie.  The scene where she gets off the train with her children at the concentration camp is one of the hardest things I've ever watched.

I thought she was excellent in "The Devil Wears Prada."  I would have sworn she was playing a former boss of mine.

That said, Streep is a witch.  I remember reading that she's known as the Nasty Lady to her neighbors in Connecticut.

@CatherineofAragon

Agree about the scene getting off the train.  Tears my heart out....

Also was surprised at how good she was in Prada, although if she's really that much of a witch, she didn't have to act that much in that role.  ^-^
