Streep and her self-absorbed, "progressive" Hollywood ilk do not merit a moment of attention.

You cannot ignore the destructive influence they have on our culture.

@Night Hides Not

Trump said she is "one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood".

Streep is a fine actress, one of the best.  Trump cannot take one criticism without trying to smash the person.  He has stock phrases he uses to denigrate his critics:
"over-rated", "loser", "terrible ratings", "dishonest", "liar", "on her(/his/their) way out",  etc.  We should start a list of his stock replies to attack people.  His insecurity can't handle an opinion different than his and if one makes a real criticism of him as Streep did, he will be on her case the rest of her life.

I love we now have a President who fights back against these liberal loons.

I understand where you're coming from, but I wish he'd be a bit more selective.

For example, here's a great example of a liberal denigrating "Middle America":

Quote
Tech Founder: Middle America Is Too ‘Violent, Stupid And Racist’ For New Jobs

A quick search of this "woman" will yield a treasure trove of laughs, as her women parts were caught in a wringer almost immediately...lol.

Isn't it amusing how Streep invoked her New Jersey roots and the non-Hollywood origins of many of her colleagues tonight as evidence of their American authenticity? Honey, you couldn't wait to get out of Jersey. Your kids never attended underfunded schools in a public school system coping with students who speak 50 different languages...where all the arts programs were eliminated years ago. You don't know what its like to worry about health insurance premiums. Or whether your husband, son, or brother working in law enforcement will be gunned downed doing his job. All those places you mentioned...they elected Donald Trump. Why can't you just say, thank you, instead of presuming to lecture the audience which has made your golden life possible, the people who still live in the America between New York and LA, who've been shafted, year after year, by your beloved hero, Barack Hussein Obama. Another one bites the dust.

If I wanted to hear what Streep had to say I would have watched.  I didn't and I don't.

I agree with you.  I'm not a supporter of the Donald but I have absolutely know problem with this behavior.  I'm tired of this ridiculous "He needs to act Presidential".  If acting "Presidential" means not responding to these horrible people, like we have done for too many years, then I'm glad he's not acting "Presidential".  I'm enjoying it and hope it continues.

The way I look at it, is while I don't always want to have a President like Trump, at this point and time,  he is what we need.  We need someone who isn't afraid to bloody the Left's nose a bit.

Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes Speech

By DANIEL VICTOR and GIOVANNI RUSSONELLOJAN. 8, 2017

Turning attention away from her and toward Donald J. Trump, Meryl Streep used her acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes to call out the president-elect for appearing to mock a disabled New York Times reporter in 2015, and warned that a free press would need to be defended. Ms. Streep campaigned for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

A "free press"?  That's a very unfunny joke.  America's press hasn't been ""free"" for decades.  And anyone with half a still-working brain cell knows it.  Everyone that isn't a Hollyweird leftist will admit it.  Obviously, that does not include Meryl.  STFU, Streep.  Your leftism and ignorance is showing.

Petty?  I've never been a Trump supporter, but what I find petty is the liberty that our Hollywood "icons" take to insult and slam the GOP and get away with it.  Trump hasn't even been sworn in yet; I can only imagine how Hollywood is going to take it upon themselves to continue stirring the progressive pot.  This is not only bad for our country, but imagine with the rest of the world takes from this!  I've never liked Streep; last snooze fest of a movie she was in that I saw was "Out of  Africa".  I now have yet another reason not to see one of her films.

Well, Trump is right about one thing.  Streep is vastly over-rated and her speech was cringe-worthy.

But he should have ignored her, as should we all.

Hollywood did the same thing with Reagan and the Bushes.  Now Reagan, being one of them, knew how to handle it.  But the Bushes just took it.  Where did it get them?

Well, there's a big difference between 'just took it' and 'just ignored it.'  And what it got Bush was a legacy of decency and goodness.

Actually, given the dreadful quality of today's Hollyweird product in tv and cinema, we could do worse than to fire all the "creative" people in Hollyweird and bring in a totally new  crew of actors, writers, directors, producers, etc.
Most of the current Hollyweird product is riddled with liberal p.c. to the point that it seems even commercials can't be made without being totally lib p.c.
There must be x amount of black actors in every commercial, and white males have to be shown to be complete doofuses. White women and black actors must be shown to smarter than white males and teach them the error of their ways...if possible because as we know from Hollyweird white males are too stupid to learn anything.
My wife laughed at me not too long ago when I remarked on the remarkable numbers of black actors in national tv ads. She isn't laughing anymore...at least not at me. She now laughs with me when we see ad after ad with black actors....and many ads with all the people in them black.  A visitor from another country who watches American ads must be surprised to go to places other than large American cities and not see many black people. They must think after watching the ads that America is at least 50% black or more.
Of course not all commercials follow that line, but after watching the trends for the last fifty years, p.c. liberalism dominates the thinking of the people who make the ads.

The same is true of TV shows.  Even Wheel of Fortune seems to feel compelled to have at least one guy a week who is 'engaged' to another guy ... or some gal who is engaged to another gal.

Not that there's anything wrong with that but this desperation to be politically correct leads to some strange casting choices.

IMO, Bush "ignored it" while dutifully playing the role of Lame Duck after the 2006 mid-terms. Both he and his dad thought it was beneath them to forcefully advocate for their policies, to let others do their heavy lifting. Obama's (and Trump's) rise to power was a consequence of that.

THIS I completely agree with!

Meryl Streep is terrible and overrated.

Streep has a face that belongs to the sea and the wind, with large horse nostrils and teeth that you just know bite an apple or a sugar cube every day.

I was hoping his narcissistic disorder of taking credit for everything, and insulting anyone who disagrees with him would lesson after the nomination, but it seems to be getting even worse now that he's on a bigger stage.

Am I to assume that the Clint Eastwood meme about Obie being an empty suit was unacceptable to those here who just love their turmpy?
