I'm no expert, but I'm sensing some hostility in their body language.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

We should have a separate protest thread and that is this one but someone changed (fine with me from the original "---- - hurt" name).. but CNN has the protesters on, the 1st post here was about the protests last night.

They were flying the Palestinian flag,

This is more Soros type Communistic or Socialistic paid protests I'm sure.

"BATTLEGROUND AMERICA Flag burning, riots and fury erupts across America as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump supporters clash after shock election win

Pro-Clinton supporters clashed with Trump fans in major cities within minutes of the billionaire being named president.

9th November 2016, 9:40 am

VIOLENCE erupted across America this morning after Donald Trump’s shock election win – including outside the White House.

Pictures and footage emerged of furious protestors burning flags, rioters setting fire to rubbish and angrily confronting Trump supporters after it emerged the controversial Republican president-elect will soon hold the most powerful position in the world.

Keep up to date with the latest developments on this historical day in our live blog here.

So, this is fine this is the Schadenfreude thread but some news reporting is going on with these BLM/Trump Rally types of protests going on, the protesters are probably well paid.

I think they must have been in Chicago and protesting that stop and frisk rule? Really.  Okay, it might or might not be proper but we will see.

I think the election results from yesterday indicate that "the problem" IS in the process of becoming "neutralized".

The polls didn't work very well this time.
In some cases they were spectacularly wrong.

The pundits were wrong.

The party establishment was wrong -- on BOTH sides.

The "mainstream media" was as wrong as it gets.

Why did the election turn out as it did?

I think because this time a large number of Americans -- and a large number of "old white guys" -- decided to "play this one close". They kept quiet. They didn't wear their sentiments on their sleeves. They confided only to known sympathetic friends. Most importantly, they disregarded much of what was aimed at them from the media.

Because of this, Donald Trump became the first populist candidate in history to win the presidency, even if he had to co-opt the Republican party to do so. (Andrew Jackson notwithstanding)

I think you are onto something there. In the waining days of the election I started getting that "Clinton fatigue" feeling again - same thing I felt during Clinton's second term. You are just so sick and tired of the constant scandal, and just want them to go away.

I agree with both of you.  I was a neverTrumper but as the results started coming in, I realized that it is a huge relief to have all the Obamas and Clintons safely away from politics or running our country.

Trump is at least a change from them and I can but hope that he will live up to at least some of his promises.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
I heard Cokie Roberts say on the radio last night that "uneducated white males" couldn't handle having a woman as president, and that was why Clinton lost.
We are too backwards and sexist to elect her, I suppose.
Damn, uneducated, hell any kind of White male, is a majority in America and able to shift the outcome of a Presidential election? I think Cokie's been hittin the bottle. :silly:

Not likely, but a teeny bit of hope is better than no hope at all, I guess.....

But you're right.  The bane of Hillary Clinton is finally done with.  Too bad there wasn't an actual Republican running against her.....
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

Yup. That's why this educated white female voted for Trump - almost solely to keep Hillary out of the white house. Can you tell me how that is sexist?

My entire family is close to hysteria

Or shell shock.

They cannot believe Hillary lost, and are upset with me. They are scapegoating me for being a Republican like I'm somehow responsible for this.

I would have loved a woman president, and I still hope I can see one in my lifetime. And yes, for the right candidate I would cross a party line.
