LOL.  Yes.  I'm an avid DVD collector.  So the UVERSE people can stop harassing me.  I will NEVER buy their stupid service if only for spite because they are such a nagging nuisance.

Do you have Dan August in your collection? It was a cop procedural from 1970 with Burt Reynolds and Norman Fell. I am on the hunt for the episodes. Also looking for Drake Chenault reel to reels of the Hit Parade format from the 70's.

...and this doesn't frighten anyone..that someone was able to get a private citizen's tax info...the IRS was clearly involved along with Gov officials......it scares the bejesus out of me....none of us are safe from this kind of intrusion, we have learned this with this current admin and head of the IRS trying to destroy the Tea Party.....if Trump wants to release his tax returns it is up to him, I don't think we should be applauding that they were leaked...believe it or not it affects all of us.

Sometimes the easiest explanation, however absurd it may appear at the surface, is the truth.

The easiest explanation here is that someone inside the Trump organization (with access to this information) leaked it out.

The list of possible leakers has to start with Trump himself and work its way down.

I can't believe the ignorance of people here. :thud:

Trump has no responsibility to pay any more taxes than he is legally obligated to do so.

Lets see. I do my taxes. I take all the deductions that I am allowed. Then, what, I am supposed to say, "Wow, maybe I should give an extra 10% to the IRS for charitable reasons. Yea, the IRS is such a good group." I don't think so!!

Trump has a fiduciary responsibility to his businesses, staff, board, stock holders, family, etc., to take all the deductions that he can with his taxes. I would expect him to do that. Just like everyone else.

Until one of you idiots tells me that you sent an extra 10% or so to the IRS just out of kindness, then SHUT UP!!!

You don't like the tax code. You don't like the IRS. Then change it. Trump has said this repeatedly.

I won't be here after the election and vote.

If Hillary wins - I will be busy, BLOAT! (It won't be long before she won't let you buy.)

If Trump wins, I won't be here to GLOAT. (I don't want to hang around while everyone looks at every speck in his eye.)

You're not in control of what gets reported and then discussed by the general public.  We understand tax avoidance, OK?  The GOP primary has passed.  Your average schmoe isn't going to elect a self-proclaimed billionaire Republican who pays no taxes and brags about it.  This line of attack is tailor made for blue collar whites.  Democrats would be daft not to pursue it.

You Trump supporters ... it was your responsibility to demand answers from him during the primaries.  Now you get to watch the media eat him alive.

He wants to lead this country.  He has been dodging and lying, saying he will release returns after an audit.  More like after the election.  I think this is relevant info.  Seriously, he is a billionaire who has paid no taxes for years and years yet he wants to control the money the rest of us pay; you don't think that is relevant?

No, not really. I have searched the Constitution high and low and find no requirement for anyone running for President to release their tax returns in order to run for office.

Good enough for the Founders...good enough for me.

Possible but more probable that they came from the IRS.  Tax records are protected by state privacy laws as well.   NYT releasing them without permission is a violation of that law.

Based on what?  I know you're upset about me posting so many anti-Trump articles, but your excerpt cut out 90% of the article.

And you KNOW that most people will NOT go to the source to read the rest of it.

@mystery-ak   @RAT Patrol

BINGO! Any person running for president will be in a position to tax the rest of us,so he or she can damn well come clean with their own income and tax records.

Not that losing over 900 MILLION dollars in one year due to incompetent business decisions so you are entitled to not pay any income taxes for 18  years is hardly something to brag about.

Even for the smartest businessman in the world that knows all the best words personally.

I post, on average, 90 articles a month, many from the NYTimes.  I will not go to the Times to read an article since I need those 10 articles in reserve for posting.  The Washington Post is just as bad, although there are ways to get around the Posts limits.
Thats the problem .Posting stories  from those two rags just democratic mouth pieces.

Agreed.  I like the Trump campaign's statement.  The NYT makes for a good villain, and Trump's got nothing on Hillary in the mendacity department.

I agree, however, the NYT is not running for President.. Hillary Clinton is.

And now we will get 3 am tweets for the next week against the NYT's although they did have no business releasing his returns without his knowledge or approval

It is hard to say how the public at large will view this, though. Both the IRS and NYT's and the media at large are not very popular. The public will either turn on Trump or the media if they start seeing this as nothing more than a pile on

Calling people in here idiots is not acceptable. Who the hell do you think you are? It's not a matter of ignorance; I think we all get it.  It's all about perception.  He took advantage of tax loopholes, bank deals, suing people and foreclosures to amass the (supposed) money that he has.  He's a billionaire not paying taxes...sorry bub, that's not going to sit well with a lot of people.

As president, Trump is going to have a responsibility to ALL people, not just his shareholders, his family and his pockets!

Trump Tax Records Obtained by The Times Reveal He Could Have Avoided Paying Taxes for Nearly Two Decades

By DAVID BARSTOW, SUSANNE CRAIG, RUSS BUETTNER and MEGAN TWOHEYOCT. 1, 2016

Donald J. Trump declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax returns, a tax deduction so substantial it could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income taxes for up to 18 years, records obtained by The New York Times show.

The 1995 tax records, never before disclosed, reveal the extraordinary tax benefits that Mr. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, derived from the financial wreckage he left behind in the early 1990s through mismanagement of three Atlantic City casinos, his ill-fated foray into the airline business and his ill-timed purchase of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.

Tax experts hired by The Times to analyze Mr. Trump’s 1995 records said tax rules that are especially advantageous to wealthy filers would have allowed Mr. Trump to use his $916 million loss to cancel out an equivalent amount of taxable income over an 18-year period.
