TruthSeeker doesn't need me to defend him,but it boggles the imagination that you could make such a leap of alleged logic.

I was a career SF NCO,and consider the cheap shot you made with your assumption is one of the cheapest going. I met and was friends with many career soldiers while in the army, and despite what some people think, they were individuals with individual thoughts, likes, and dislikes. Some, granted very few in SF,were deeply religious. One that comes to mind was Medal of Honor awardee Captain "Rocky" Versache, who was deeply religious, and had been planning on getting out of the army when his tour in VN ended, and becoming a Catholic Priest. He was on a operation in VN when his small team got into contact with a numerically superior enemy force, and surrended to the enemy despite not being wounded so his wounded teammates would have someone to tend to their wounds and help them survive. Read the URL below and tell me if you think that deeply religious man was a draft-dodger.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humbert_Roque_Versace

Not everybody can be pigeon holed based on one observation about their likes or dislikes.

For example, not ALL Party People are slack-jawed morons. It just seems that way.

I had a friend from HS that volunteered for the draft--he was struggling a bit, and decided to just et it over with.

He retired 37 years later, as a three star general, in combat arms. Held the top Europe command before Abazaid, Sanchez held it.

A good friend of mine, bunk mate in infantry AIT, was killed in Vietnam. He was a draftee with long hair and got hassled big time at the start. But he turned out to be a top trainee.

So punks that demean the service of brave real men, rile me to no end. But I won't give them the satisfaction of free rent in my head. They know themselves, what they really are.

I served in part, to protect the rights of persons to scoff at the religious beliefs of others.

And yes you do have that right - but as the Mods pointed out they do not have a religion topic so they can avoid that sort of thing here on TBR - because arguing over religion never leads to anything good. But that is between you and the Mods.

What I am upset about is the provocative and inflammatory title on this thread. A thread that should have been locked on page 1.

I enlisted because I had wanted to be a soldier ever since I was a little kid,so that doesn't make me anything special. I was doing what I wanted to do.

On the other hand, people who are drafted and then step up to the line and do their duty ARE going out of their way to serve their country, instead of spending that time doing what they really want to do. I don't have any respect for draft-dogers,including those that got bogus medical deferements, but we all have to respect the draftees that reported in and did the job they didn't want to do.

I'm with you on that one. Especially since the title is a total lie to start with. It is one thing to report an unpleasant truth, but it is another to purposely tell a lie.

Well you got one thing right - there is no debating. I stand firm in my Christian faith. Enduring you calling us "cult members" is nothing compared to the horrors the early Christians endured.

And the Christians today in the ME.

Being called "cult members" because of our faith is pretty easy to take........

The video is in red prominently on Drudge, with perhaps a more provocative title.

Oh, like the Bible. Got it.
By the way, it wasn't an anti-gay conference, it was a religious liberties conference.

The bible is not extreme for someone who believes and has been transformed by the Christian bible. But, to American atheists or other anti-religionists, it may be. That's a fact. I think there are more of those in the Democrat party then there are in the Republican Party, but I don't have a link to that.

The title of the thread is the title of the video.

The fact that it bears no relation to the truth puts it on a par with headlines from the New York Times.

Funny how standards in the "Conservative Media" change depending on which candidate is being targeted for "Guilt by association" attacks.

BTW I am NOT in the wrong country. I served in uniform for my country, and I strongly resent your remark.

I served in part, to protect the rights of persons to scoff at the religious beliefs of others.

I respect your service thank you for serving.  I am sorry that I offended you.  I still want to make clear that I believe that Christianity does not disqualify a person from serving as POTUS.  It is a Constitutional right to believe or not believe.  That was the point that I was making and I still stand by that.  I do believe that Christianity is and has been under assault in this country and I am passionate about that.  The way that I said it caused offense and I am sorry.

Thank you.  This video is absolute smear campaign.  I would have been there right with people to criticize if the pastor was actually telling people to kill gays.  I don't believe that.  Christians believe it is a sin but we also believe we are all sinners.  Pastors need to preach the truth about all sin.  Everyone knows that the OT was full of laws like that.  Mary faced being stoned because she carried Jesus before she was married.  We all know that Mary did not get stoned to death and she gave birth to the Messiah Jesus Christ who delivered us from________ (insert whatever sin and there are many!)

And I have a family member that is gay.  I just think there was a whole lot more to that sermon.  We will not know because it was a smear campaign.

Apology accepted. You may be surprised when I tell you we watched the new film "Risen" last Monday night.

Both my wife of 48 years and I  liked it.  Around our extended families we have a variety of religions, a Nun, some Mormons, etc. So we don't get very deep into religiosity to the degree, that differences make others feel uncomfortable.

My wife was raised in a staunchly Italian Catholic culture. When she met some Mormons on my father's side, she said they instantly connected, with such similar emphasis on family etc.

I live in a county where we have a good representation of Catholics, Protestants, and Mormons. At first that created some tension in our local party, but ultimately we realized one certain truth.

That is, while we don't agree on dogma, the Leftists are coming after all of us with the Gaia worshipping, Govt enforcing socialist religion and we all need to stick together.
The Republic is lost.

Oh I can really relate.  We have a variety in our family too.  Honestly that preacher did look a little whacked but I don't think he was telling people to go kill gays.  There were lots of politicians speaking there and I know Ted Cruz isn't fire and brimstone.  I personally am turned off by hellfire preachers.  It isn't because of Gods word.  Its because they just don't seem to be imitators of Christ.  Not that I think it isn't important to tell the truth and take the whole Word.  I do, but I think about how Christ would deliver it.  I love my church.  But it is important to address religious freedom.  I just watched a video of Ted.   He was speaking about how businesses have to shut down because of their faith.  A tea shirt business.  A bakery.  That isn't right.  When you go into some businesses you see signs we reserve the right to refuse.  It is their right.  There are plenty of businesses to cater to everyone.

I want to see Risen!  There is also another one.  Messiah I think? About the life of Christ.  Focus on the Family has given it a good review.  Movie Time!!

Uh no, that's not exactly right. Trump has initiated attacks on just about...everybody. People that have said nothing to him, ever.

Then when it came back to bite, Trump and supporters both acted shocked, surprised, and angry.

Then they attacked again like they were the ones to be attacked first.

Just to get the timeline right.

Cruz was at this conference.  What matters is what the candidates say.  Not someone introducing them.  Cruz hasn't proposed any registry for gay people.  He certainly has not incited violence against gays.  If he had I wouldn't support him.

Never posted a word here about Trump that wasn't true! Not a one!
