Well then....there you have it!

Glad you posted this.  Hadn't seen it the first time.

Gerald Ford....Robert Dole...John McCain....Mitt Romney, for chrissakes.   ALL had their a$$es handed to them.

The question that keeps coming back to me is...How could so-called intelligent people keep making the same mistakes over and over again?   SOMEBODY is out-of-touch with the American Electorate....and it's not the people in the Trump camp.

If my memory serves me right, in my lifetime (as an American) we've had eight years of Nixon/Ford, four years of Carter, eight years of Reagan, four years of GHW Bush, eight years of Clinton, eight years of GW Bush and eight years of Obama.

That's twenty eight years of Republican Presidents in the last forty-eight. It would have been thirty-two years for the GOP had it not been for the last "revolt". So I'd say that there have been more Democrat candidates getting their asses handed to them this last half century that there have been Republicans in that list.

The anti-Jeb argument is that the American people don't take to dynasties.

They don't like single party dominance either.

Is it the GOP winning when you have a candidate running with "Bush lied, people died" as a campaign slogan, getting kudos from Code Pink and praising all the good work done by Planned Parenthood?

It certainly is....especially when the opponents are avowed Socialists who make all illegals 'legal' with voting rights.

That's just two leftists with a difference of opinion over what to do with illegals running.

Fair enough, Luis.   :patriot:

But Barack Obama WON reelection...after force feeding us the Affordable Care Act, AND  after double crossing the Iraqi people by leaving them defenseless against the 'friends' of Saddam Hussein...wiping out positive gains at the cost of over 4,000 lives of our finest.

Thank you Fundamentalist Christian Right.

I doubt the evangelicals can be blamed specifically for 2012 Romney loss, since he got 1 million more votes than McCain did 4 yrs. before.

I think the problem really is that the Fundamentalist Christian Right, as well as social and economic conservatives generally, are an ever-shrinking proportion of the total voting public.

Exactly.

It's far more likely that Romney's loss was due to the fact that he ran a terrible campaign, especially at the end.

That's true! But the fact that millions of Southern Baptists could not bring themselves to pull the lever for a [[[[[[[[MORMON]]]]]]]]]] didn't help either!

I sure couldn't figure that one out.  I was raised a Baptist, and still share much of the theology I was raised with, but the idea of not voting for someone who was Mormon absolutely baffled me.

I still think it's bizarre that anyone with a conservative bone in his or her body thought that Obama, the atheist/Muslim/whatever was a better option than Romney, the Mormon.

You obvioulsy don't understand the depth of hatred that exists for Mormons in some circles. Think Elsie!

You're right that I don't understand it............ because I'm a rational person, and it's completely irrational.

btw, Elsie is the reason I left FR for good.  He called me a Baal worshiper because I was voting for Romney, and that was the last straw in a string of last straws I had had in that Godforsaken place.

And that is EXACTLY my point! Elsie is far from alone!

I remember Elsie as well.  On a thread where I mentioned my Dad's passing and my assurance that I will see him again because  he gave his heart to the Lord on a very touching day for the whole family gathered around him, -the  day before he passed away in Hospice.  Elsie said he would "burn in Hell", because he was not water baptized, and what he did on his death bed was not enough. That is how wicked Elsie was. A horrible person.   Now all kinds of nuts post comments on forums, and the larger the forum, the more nuts. But what got me to leave FR is because it was tolerated by Jim. Elsie hated Romney, which made him an ally of Jim...So he did nothing to stop him.

Another one you may remember was pissant.

What a horrid thing to say about your Dad.......... and absolutely FALSE, if one believes the words of Jesus Christ himself to the thief on the cross.  (No water there, methinks).

But your feelings mirror mine.  It was not so much that Elsie was a demon, but that, when I went directly to Jim to do something about his vile, evil posts, Jim supported him.  I think that even more than tolerating that evil, Jim enabled and enjoyed it.

That's why I left for good.  Haven't looked back, and never regretted leaving for a minute.
