How, exactly, did they meddle?  How did they help Hillary?   Specifics, please.

Russia funneled money into the Clinton campaign through the Clinton Foundation, and they sat on damaging information from Hllary's server that would have destroyed her campaign.

Funneling money into a campaign is not considered foreign meddling though, is it?  If it was then Soros's meddling would have been an issue with the Obama campaign.  Right?  Or is it only if/when funneled into a non-DemocRat's coffers...?

No, the implication is the Russians somehow meddled with or "fixed" the voting machines to effect the outcome of the election.... and that is patently FALSE.

In addition.... George Bush probably knows all about that kind of "meddling".  Perhaps he is projecting...?

He trashed Trump's meme and credibility about the "Russians didn't meddle in the 2016 election".  The only thing they did was hack into the DNC, thanks to John Podesta falling for a phishing scam.  But the actual election was NOT meddled with.  So yeah.... he trashed Trump by refuting Trump's correct stance on the issue.

I disagree on the "Russians didn't affect the election" thingie.  Even though no one (?) came out and said it, the idea that was pushed by the media portion of the global left was that the voting booths or vote tallies or something direct like that was affected.  I don't think it required much pushing because those on the left assumed that was what the "Russian collusion" story was about and those of us on the right assumed that was the story that we needed to correct.

That leaves the real story.  The Russians DID try to affect the election and I think a good case can be made that they did.  However, rather than directly doing something nefarious, they did so by playing on our weaknesses, making it harder for us to see.  Those ads in Facebook?  All the carefully, or not-so-carefully crafted stories that they fed to the complicit press who were more than happy to turn around and breathlessly force feed them to us?  It's worked very well for the global communists in the past and the advent of social media and immediate delivery has made it a so much more effective technique.

One big part of that technique is to create stories that we react to reflexively and emotionally, and that creates more division and demonization of the other side. It's very effective and it's hard for us to admit that we fell for whatever it was so it tends to not be corrected historically.

Stay skeptical, my friends.

The bottom line is.... the idiot left has pushed the BS idea that the Russians meddled in the 2016 election to get Trump elected.  If there was any real meddling (big if).... it was to get Hillary elected.  So the premise is a LIE.  A lie that Bush just, unsurprisingly, also pushed.

Here's what Bush said, according to the story:

Quote
“There’s pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled,” Bush said, the news service reported. “Whether they affected the outcome is another question.”

“It’s problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system,” he added. “Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results.”

It doesn't say what you say it said. It's actually pretty innocuous.

I don't see what Bush said as "pretty innocuous".  I see it as a direct and blatant refutation of Trump's claim that the Russians did NOT meddle in the US election.  And this won't be the first or only time Bush has gone against Trump, his little retarded brother Jeb aside.

I get it that some here still like GWB.  But the very fact that he is only now speaking up and speaking out should shriek volumes.... if you are willing to listen.  Just sayin...

And PS... funny how it was A-OK for Obama to "meddle" with the election in Israel.  I don't recall Bush finding his voice for that.  Do you?

Since the Russians have attempted to influence elections all over the world, including America, since the founding of Russia, would Bush say the same statement about his own election? No doubt Russia was doing the same stuff then.

'Meddling' is one thing.  'Fixing' is another.

Examine the motive here.  The Russians had a vested interest in seeing Hillary win.  Primarily because they knew that like her predecessor she was perfectly willing to sell out America.  But also because they had enough info on her to blackmail her for the rest of her life.

Not a whisper during the Obama administration's 8 year reign of anti-Americanism and globalism..... but now W can't seem to shut up.

Quote
George W Bush in Abu Dhabi: Steps into immigration debate, has strong words on Putin
The National, Feb 8, 2018

<snip>

“We’ve got to enforce our border, go to enforce our laws,” he said. “But there are people willing to do jobs Americans aren’t willing to do. Lots of Americans don’t want to pick cotton in 105 degrees, but there are people who want to put food on their family's table, and are willing to do that.

“We ought to be able to say thank you, and to welcome them. Have a plan in place that enables workers to do work Americans won’t do.

“When there's a populist sentiment it makes it harder to get that kind of issue resolved."

President Bush also stepped into the current debate about deporting those children born to illegal immigrants, a policy President Trump has expressed support for.

"These kids, they were born in America, their parents were here illegally and they say they have to go home,” President Bush said.

“Well they don't have a home. America’s their home - and they've got to get it fixed.”

<snip>

And with allegations still swirling about President Trump's election campaign and Russian involvement, he added: “I would say he’s [Putin] not a direct threat to the homeland except for the elections.

“And its problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system because Democracy is really only as good as the people's trust in results.

“And there’s pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled. Whether they affected the outcome is another question. But they meddled and that’s dangerous for a democracy".

He was.  That was the only election I sat out.  I regretted it afterwards and swore to never do it again; thus I voted for Bush in 2004, McCain, and Romney.  Ugh.

Or Mexico. The Democrats have paved a yellow brick road for Mexico to influence elections. And now they are trying to build a superhighway for them. They love it! But Russian influence is bad. Mexican influence is good.

Would Bush or any other Democrat ever talk about Mexican influence on our elections? Never, no way.

The Democrats want to make it legal for any Mexican citizen to vote in any American election. Why Mexicans and not Russians? Hell, lets just let the whole world vote in American elections. Why not?

Oh I agree that the Russians were all in for Hillary.  She is, after all, the one that made that uranium deal.  But.... the point of this article is.... Bush was in essence refuting Trump's claim that no Russian  "Fixing" took place.  The word "meddling" is being used instead, but the implication was "Fixing".  And Bush just went against that meme on foreign soil.  He has joined the ranks of the other (DemocRat) enemies within, IMO.   Heckuva job, Bushy!

Oh I agree that the Russians were all in for Hillary.  She is, after all, the one that made that uranium deal.  But.... the point of this article is.... Bush was in essence refuting Trump's claim that no Russian  "Fixing" took place.

And as I said from the start, the article is BS.

First and foremost, Trump never made the claim that no Russian 'fixing' took place.  He commented on what Putin said.  But in the end, Trump said he sided with our own intelligence community opinion on this.

Now to Bush's statement.  He stated factually that our intelligence concluded that there was Russian meddling - an opinion that Donald Trump shares.

So this entire exercise is about inventing fake news in order to stir the pot and divide the Right.  And it is all BS.  And it saddens me to see Trump supporters jump on board with the solidly anti-Trump Associated Press.

The word "meddling" is being used instead, but the implication was "Fixing".

You mean the fake implication put forth by fake news outlet AP.  Bush never implied 'fixing'.  He simply repeated the assessment of our own intelligence agencies.

And Bush just went against that meme on foreign soil.  He has joined the ranks of the other (DemocRat) enemies within, IMO.   Heckuva job, Bushy!

Uh, no.  That's not at all what Bush did.  A reporter asked Bush a question.  He truthfully answered that question.  And a lying scheming press took that answer, connected it to a totally different question, and then put forth this fake news story that Bush was slamming Trump.

That's not at all what Bush did.  A reporter asked Bush a question.  He truthfully answered that question.  And a lying scheming press took that answer, connected it to a totally different question, and then put forth this fake news story that Bush was slamming Trump.

But Bush DID slam Trump - albeit in a very clever usage of words - but he did indeed slam Trump and the movement of people who put him into office to stop the tidal wave of border breach.  Here is what Bush said in Abu Dhabi:

Quote
“We’ve got to enforce our border, go to enforce our laws,” he said. “But there are people willing to do jobs Americans aren’t willing to do. Lots of Americans don’t want to pick cotton in 105 degrees, but there are people who want to put food on their family's table, and are willing to do that.

“We ought to be able to say thank you, and to welcome them. Have a plan in place that enables workers to do work Americans won’t do.

“When there's a populist sentiment it makes it harder to get that kind of issue resolved."

Sorry - and I know you understand I am not a Trump supporter - but THAT statement was a direct slam on not only Trump - but the mindsets of Americans who put Trump into office to DEAL with securing the border and ending DACA and ending an open floodgates policy that was begun in earnest under Bush.

And he did it on foreign Middle Eastern soil - when he was DEAD SILENT on Obama's abuses for 8 years and said absolutely NOTHING that was tied to government and public policy during the reign of His Heinous.

Now all-of-a-sudden Bush is out there commenting on public policy.

Sorry - that's bullshit and whatever respect I once had for the guy is gone.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775
