Thank you, Both of us are passionate (Maybe overly so, in some areas) on a number of topics, this being one. This time it felt that you were taking direct shots at me.
Never meant it that way,
@verga . Toward that system, oh hell yeah... That you happen to be represented is incidental. But, I won't hold back hard words for the sake of propriety or politeness... If your ox is getting gored, so be it - Just remember it's your ox, not you.

This is where you and I disagree In my opinion, and it is just that an opinion. Feminism came first and the "liberalization of the education system came second. We are both old enough to remember the burning bras, the college riots, and the war protests. I believe this was all fostered by the Feminist movement and moved on the the campuses. Once again I have no direct data to back that up.
Well, you and I can go around, picking at the nits... but there is no denying the rise of socialism in America is driven by the education system, just as much as by the political class - Even in my day, the indoctrination and propaganda was abundant.
So you can point to the hippies as the genesis of feminism, for instance, outside of the education system, and perhaps aspects of that idea would be right. I don't much care. One way or another, college professors, college backed shrink studies, college based protests... The whole damn show was sold at the college level very early on by the bright, shining Alinskyites, and Marxists inhabiting therein - Quite often tenured professors, sitting in their overstuffed chairs, smoking their pipes, and farting Rosseau.
And Marxist philosophy is the true genesis - His disdain of God and Family - The government raising the children so that both parents could work, having the two-fold benefit of doubling the work force, and clearing te way for the indoctrination of the children - Feminism is just an aspect of that.
And Marx suggests that breaking a country required capturing the attention of its youth, and weighing down its national services with poor, that could then be preached to for the inequity... Overtaking schools, politics, and workers unions to become mouthpieces to first preach dissent, and later, to usher in the glorious communist salvation.
And feminism was one of the first waves of all that, and colleges were culpable from the start, or at least early on, with the lower schools following more slowly until parental attentions could be eroded.
Either way, whether causal or merely culpable, the Education system has been cheering the socialist cause for as long as I can remember. Not to mention spearheading the Democrat liberal cause in rebellion and elections, in every aspect.
Let me clear up a misunderstanding I have never denigrated homeschooling. I have on the other hand taken direct shots at the "Homescrewling nazis" That is a select (very) few that populate TOS and one that used to make their presence known here. Those are the individuals that want to firebomb public schools, round up any and all faculty and staff and execute them before urinating on the ashes. I 100% support Homeschooling. I am on record saying that I have a list of students that they can take for as long as they wish to prove how well homeschooling works. Oddly none have taken me up on my generous offer. i also support charter schools, Montessori schools, military academies, and any other program that will offer a child an education.
Well fine. I understand. I have been a proponent of Home School for many years, having seen the intelligence in the eyes of young hillbillies, and having sat on porches discussing deep things with them, long into the night. Very bright. Very well rounded. Astonishingly so. And that, over and again, accomplished on less than 4 hours of studying a day.
That's what it used to be you know - kids learning from their mamma at the kitchen table before heading out the door to learn more practical things from daddy, working on the farm. And I think that was in our heyday.
Some time after the one-room schoolhouse... Perhaps with the establishment of the Dept. of Education as part of Health Education, and Welfare in the mid-fifties... But somewhere along the way there, it was overtaken by Marxists specifically with the intention of turning the children against their parents, and it has done nothing but, ever since. It certainly is not educating. Any of that that happens is merely by coincidence.
So forgive me my opinions. They come from nothing other than observation and understanding of history.
