Trump won’t rule out Kharg Island takeover: What a US assault could look like

Hundreds of U.S. Marines storm ashore as helicopters thunder overhead, Navy warships and fighter jets establish overwhelming air and sea superiority, and commanders issue one final warning to Iranian forces: surrender or be overrun.

That is how military experts envision the opening hours of a potential U.S. operation to seize Iran's Kharg Island — the tiny but strategically vital island that handles roughly 90% of the Islamic Republic's crude oil exports and has become the centerpiece of Washington's economic pressure campaign against Tehran.

The scenario was thrust back into the spotlight Tuesday after President Donald Trump declined to rule out taking the island. "I can't say that to you because if I did, it would be foolish," Trump told Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst during an exclusive interview on ‘Special Report’ when asked directly whether he planned to seize Kharg island. He added that previous U.S. strikes intentionally avoided the island's oil facilities because they are "a chunk of the world economy."

"There are a lot of ways to skin this cat," retired Vice Adm. Robert Harward, former deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, told Fox News Digital in an interview.

This is an excerpt from a story by Efrat Lachter.
Posted by Efrat Lachter

FPV drones will be hunting US troops individually along with incoming artillery and missile fire ... US casualties will be very high.

Had they just taken out the pumps that pump the oil to the island, all of those troops would not have died.

Tactically, taking the island with troops is a very bad move.
Democrats would rather rule over ashes than govern a functioning Republic

This contradicts your bogus claim that "we got involved in this expanded war based on the lies told by Netanyahu and Mossad on Feb 11".  I.e. if the US rejected two of the assessments, then they didn't get involved based upon them.

Our intelligence sources and agencies assessed the Israeli presentation to be "farcical" and by one well-known as "bullshit".   The Trump administration was in the midst of an internal debate ---- still seeking assurances that Israel's information and guarantees were correct right up to the start of the bombing on Feb 28.

Rather than assist the US complete its assessment, Netanyahu loaded up his bombers and put them on the runway. Then he called Trump to tell him their bombing was about to begin. --- requiring the US air force to act to protect US military personnel in the region.

Netanyahu couldn't assure the President of the accuracy of the assumptions and predictions in his presentation, so he skipped ahead to the bombing phase of his war for regime change and forced Trump's hand.  Below is a link to a video of Rubio explaining this ....

Vance rules out US ground invasion of Iran: ‘We’re not in that business anymore’

Vice President JD Vance ruled out sending American ground troops into Iran to overthrow its government, arguing that regime change must come from the Iranian people rather than the U.S. military.

“If the Iranian people want to rise up and change their government, that’s up to them,” Vance said during an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” “But we’re not going to send 150,000 ground troops in order to accomplish a change in a regime.”

“We’re not in that business anymore. We’re just not,” he added.

Vance also warned against allowing Iran to collapse into a failed state like Libya, saying such an outcome could unleash terrorism and send millions of refugees into Europe and the United States.

He said the administration’s immediate goals are to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, protect the flow of oil and gas and prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Speak louder, Vance.  :patriot:

Our mission --- to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon ---- was accomplished in June 2025.  The rest of this sh!tshow is Netanyahu's mission creep in the hope of installing an Iranian government of his choice. We should toss the baton to Bibi and shake the dust off our boots as we leave.

U.S. protest prompts Israel to lift Ben Gurion ban on U.S. refueling planes after just one day
Jul 15, 2026

JERUSALEM, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli Transport Ministry on Wednesday lifted a ban on U.S. military refueling planes landing at Ben Gurion International Airport, just a day after it was imposed, following a U.S. protest, Israel's state-owned Kan TV News reported.  .  .

Come on, Mr. President, when you reach the point where Israel denies us landing rights as we defend them, it's time to smile and wave as we leave the theater.  Israel concerned about easy vacation travel doesn't sound like they're under an existential threat.  Netanyahu can fix this ---- AND give his people a fun summer.

World Source News
@Worldsource24

WSJ: President Trump is leaning toward expanding U.S. military operations in Iran after days of briefings from top aides, U.S. officials said. Options include stepping up airstrikes, sending ground forces to seize Iranian islands near the Strait of Hormuz and bombing a fortified site that could be used for covert nuclear work.

Trump hosted a Situation Room meeting Tuesday evening to discuss the potential seizure of Kharg Island and other territory along the Strait of Hormuz using U.S. troops, as well as the potential bombing of a tunnel complex at Pickaxe Mountain.

Some U.S. officials said Trump is reluctant to commit ground forces. He has repeatedly walked back his biggest public threats, including taking Kharg Island and Iran’s oil industry. But if Trump were to approve of the plans, it would usher in the most dangerous phase of the nearly five-month war and drag the U.S. deeper into a growing Middle East conflict.

US opts to keep refuelers at Ben-Gurion Airport, putting 50,000 flight tickets at risk
Jerusalem Post, Jul 14, 2026

Up to 50,000 flight tickets may be canceled during July following an American decision to freeze the evacuation of its refuelers stationed at Ben-Gurion Airport, the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) warned on Thursday.

IAA director-general Sharon Kedmi released a letter expressing concern over the decision. "This delay has immediate and serious operational consequences," he stated.

Transportation Ministry Director-General Moshe Ben Zaken also said additional US refueling aircraft would not be permitted to land at the airport. Israeli air traffic control had reportedly been instructed not to approve any further US refuelers for landing in Israel.

Citizens cannot be harmed; the Defense Ministry must find solutions," Ben Zaken said.

JD Vance tells Joe Rogan Israel wants to keep Iran war going ‘indefinitely,’ Trump admin ‘screwed up’ on Epstein files

https://nypost.com/2026/07/15/us-news/vance-tells-joe-rogan-israel-wants-to-keep-iran-war-going-indefinitely-trump-admin-screwed-up-on-epstein-files/

Quote
Vice President JD Vance asserted in a bombshell interview with Joe Rogan that some in the Israeli government want to derail US negotiations with Iran to keep the war going “indefinitely” — and he acknowledged the Trump administration “screwed up” the release of the Epstein files.

“I know beyond a shadow of a doubt there have been people within the Israeli government who are trying to shift us away from [negotiations] because they want to continue the military campaign,” Vance told the popular podcaster during an episode of the “Joe Rogan Experience” released Wednesday.

“There are some people within their system, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, who are manipulating and trying to change American public opinion to keep the war going on indefinitely,” the vice president added. “Again, not towards any objective, but just indefinitely.”

Without naming Israel, Vance further alleged that there is a “very discreet, extremely well-funded … literal foreign-influence campaign being funded to tank” the Iran deal.

The vice president, however, was adamant that Israeli pressure didn’t influence President Trump’s decision to go to war in Iran.

“I think the president, completely separate from any influence from Israel, believes very strongly, and I agree with this, that Iran should not have a nuclear weapon.”

Vance described himself as a “reasonable moderate” in the “massive pro-Israel, anti-Israel debate” taking place in the US...

Midway through the nearly three-hour-long interview, Rogan asked Vance about the Trump administration’s “resistance” to releasing government files related to notorious sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein.

The vice president acknowledged missteps but insisted there was no cover-up.

“We absolutely screwed up the comms of the Epstein files. Like, we just did,” Vance said. “But do I think the reason we screwed up the comms is because we were trying to hide something? No.”

EXCERPT

JD making a jackass out of himself.  Sounds just like Tucker Carlson.

Vance rules out US ground invasion of Iran: ‘We’re not in that business anymore’

Vice President JD Vance ruled out sending American ground troops into Iran to overthrow its government .  .  .

Vance doesn't seem to understand how diplomacy works.  I'm sure the IRGC is relieved to know that the US has taken that off the table for them.

The Kuwaiti military says it is once again fending off missile and drone attacks from Iran on Thursday.

The Iranian regime has launched waves of strikes at neighboring Arab countries that house U.S. military bases in recent days.

"The Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting attacks by hostile drones, following the sinful Iranian aggression," Kuwait's army said in a statement.

"The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosion sounds heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile targets," it said.

"Everyone is requested to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities," the statement said.

So you agree with RiV the problem isn't Iran, but it's Da Jooos?

I am very pro Israel, but even I am joining the the growing trend that they played us.    I sure don't trust them as much now.

Israel has always looked out for it's own interests, but saying they lied us into bombing a country that declared war on the US 47 years ago is something else.

Worse as there is no such thing as a “reasonable moderate" ... taking a stand in the 'middle' is tantamount to acquiescing to the lowest common denominator, seeing both sides, agreeing with none. A recipe for disaster. All his talk about some in the Israeli government wanting to keep the war going indefinitely, is nonsense of the highest order. A tiny country like Israel does not have the resources nor the manpower to pursue such a path.

In fact, the nonsense the Pit Bull is spouting sounds more like Iranian propaganda then anything else. As you say, he sounds like the Bow Tie or the Black Widow, certainly like the DSA, and as Dog, is easily led by his base instincts down whatever merry path his handles choose.

Qatar condemns Iran's attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan: 'Flagrant breach'

Qatar's foreign ministry condemned Iran's attacks on the nations of Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait on Thursday after days of repeated strikes.

Iran has lashed out at its Arab neighbors amid heightened attacks on Tehran by the U.S. The Iranian regime has threatened to further escalate its attacks if the U.S. targets Iran's power and bridge infrastructure.

"The State of Qatar strongly condemns the repeated Iranian attacks on the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the State of Kuwait, considering them a blatant violation of the sovereignty of these countries and a flagrant breach of international law," Qatar's foreign ministry said.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the need to spare the region the repercussions of these unjustified attacks and to maintain the course of dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation, thereby contributing to the consolidation of security and stability at both the regional and international levels," the statement continued.

"The Ministry reiterates the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the State of Kuwait, and its support for all measures they take to uphold their sovereignty and security," it added.

I am on the fence with how I feel about Vance. I wouldn't put him in the same camp right now as Carlson, but I'm still not confident enough in him that I would want him as the GOP nominee.  Yes he is gaining tremendous experience and speaks very articulatelddy but I do get the sense at times that he is a globalist at heart and could be swayed to lean more to the left.

It's Time to Make the U.S.-Israel Relationship Normal Again
Replacing the 'special relationship' with a more standard alliance between two sovereign nations would serve both American and Israeli interests
Haaretz, Jul 16, 2026

For decades, Washington has treated its relationship with Israel as something categorically different from its relationships with every other ally, an unconditional, sacrosanct bond insulated from the give-and-take that governs America's dealings with London, Tokyo, or Canberra.

Presidents of both parties have spoken of the relationship in the language of covenant rather than contract, and Congress has structured aid and diplomatic support accordingly.

That arrangement made strategic sense during the Cold War era, when Israel served as a reliable outpost in a region contested by Soviet-aligned states, and when American policymakers worried, correctly or not, that a wavering commitment might tempt Israel's neighbors into trying to destroy it.

But it makes far less sense today. The most productive thing Washington and Jerusalem could do for each other now is to normalize the relationship, turning it into a standard, interest-based alliance rather than a permanent, emotionally-charged entitlement. Both countries would come out ahead, and so, arguably, would the broader region.

FWIW, the SCOTUS birthright citizenship ruling has nothing to do with the natural born citizenship definition reserved for the office of the President of the United States.

FWIW, the SCOTUS birthright citizenship ruling has nothing to do with the natural born citizenship definition reserved for the office of the President of the United States.

The way I see it; a ruling against birthright citizenship would have in essence denied citizenship to children whose parents are or were not citizens.  As an example, Rubio certainly falls under that category as neither of his parents were citizens upon his birth, thereby meaning that he would not be a natural born citizen making him ineligible to run for the Presidency.  You are right that the SCOTUS did NOT specifically rule on the definition of a natural born citizen.

There's a fine line .... so we're talking birthright citizenship vs. natural born citizenship and the two are very close "Natural born citizen" still means that they were born here at birth without having to go through the naturalization process.

You are saying that the ruling on birthright citizenship is not applicable to being a natural born citizen; so please explain how you see the scenario differently.
