In some ways our politcal life and actions should be more dictated around what happened in 1773 rather than 1776.
The entity that was formed in 1776 has become an enemy of the people. People are getting fed up subsidiziing the slug entitllment class.
I know what you mean, but it wasn't until 1860 that the Federal Government became a National Government, and it wasn't until the outcome of that conflict that that was solidified. Many problems have their roots in that subtle change, and the events of 1913 made things worse. Then, after a New Deal and a Great Society, we get to most of the mechanisms today that are far, far, afield from what those who crafted the Constitution in 1787 would have advocated.
We have a great Constitution. Pity we don't use it as intended.
