Iran has arrested more than 3,000 citizens in recent months accused of collaborating with “the enemy,” the nation’s judiciary said Monday.

The Islamic republic has taken 3,292 people into custody, claiming 684 individuals carried out “operational actions” for Israel, Iranian Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir told Tehran’s semi-official Student News Network (SNN).

Another 1,258 were accused of carrying out political propaganda against the state, with 1,061 indictments issued so far on the individuals in custody.

Technically ... yes. That, however, presumes a deal with this regime would last long enough for Congress to play a role at all.

To understand why Donald Trump needs Congress to make a deal work, one has to recall what happened in the wake of Barack Obama's deal. Congress passed a law at that time requiring approval of any future deals with Iran, or perhaps a bit more accurately, providing itself a veto process. Both before and after the JCPOA, Congress imposed sanctions on Iran in statutes that further increased its power in Iran deals.

Time Magazine points out the problem for Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, especially with a Congress where Republicans have serious doubts about the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Iran wants sanctions relief up front, and that's just the start of the complications on Capitol Hill:

If we are to have IAEA conduct inspections, there had better be a major revamping of the rules.  No more denial of inspections by Iran!  Inspectors go wherever they want, and all inspectors must be bribe-free.

TBH, I don't know if it's even possible to assemble an effective inspection regime in Iran of any kind!  IAEA has not covered themselves in competence.

“As President Trump and Vice President Vance have made clear, the Iranians have agreed to robust IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) inspections of the remains of their nuclear weapons program, which was totally obliterated by Operation Midnight Hammer and Operation Epic Fury,” the official told Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst.

“The Iranian regime will say what they have to say for their domestic audience, but the fact remains that we’ve reached a major milestone toward permanently ending Iran’s nuclear program,” the official added.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said earlier Tuesday that no visits have been scheduled for the IAEA to inspect Iranian nuclear sites damaged in strikes by the U.S. last year, according to The Associated Press.

The AIEA has proven time and again they cannot inspect Iran vigorously enough to stop Iran from cheating.  Iran was/is a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty for years, and yet they refined many Kg of Uranium to >60% fissile material, all under the nose of IAEA!
