I've pretty much stopped reading the "iran threads".
Waste of my time now.
Especially since this "deal" was announced.

5 reasons Trump allies don’t like his Iran deal

The Hill
by Laura Kelly and Colin Meyn
06/16/26

Some of President Trump’s most prominent allies in his war on Iran are revolting against the reported contours of his memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Tehran to end the conflict.

Conservative pundits and hawkish Iran experts are warning against any agreement that gives up key leverage against the Islamic Republic, or opens access to badly needed funds, without completely giving up its nuclear capacity.

The text of the deal is not released, but it would reportedly allow Iran to immediately restart oil exports free from U.S. trade and banking sanctions, while Gulf states would contribute to a $300 billion reconstruction fund as part of a final deal.

Iran would commit to never pursuing nuclear weapons and to hand over its enriched uranium, though the details of that process would be hammered out in future talks.

While the memorandum is largely meant to set the terms for future negotiations, Iran hawks are worried Tehran has no intention of following through and will use the financial lifeline and reprieve from fighting to rebuild both militarily and organizationally.

“Ask yourself: Why are so many of us who support and defend President Trump all expressing the same concerns about this deal?” asked Marc Thiessen, a conservative commentator with a line to the president, on Tuesday.

“If we’re wrong release the MOU and show the world there’s nothing to be concerned about.”

Here are five reasons Iran hawks are alarmed:
  • The text is not yet available
  • Little substance on nuclear program
  • MOU allows Iran to resume oil exports
  • It creates $300B reconstruction fund for Iran
  • Israel’s hands tied on Lebanon

Heck..I’d consider it a win to get the straight opened and make sure they have no nukes. We need to arm the general Iranian population in some way.  Is that worth US lives?  I personally don’t think so.

Absolutely agree,

But it's going to take military might ...aka Precision Weapons to kill these mutinous rebels.

That's what I hope the President meant when he said "...we have Eyes in the Skies 24/7..."

Clouds darken over Trump’s Iran deal

The Hill
by Niall Stanage
06/16/26

A storm is growing over President Trump’s deal to end the war with Iran.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreed between the two sides is expected to be formally signed in Switzerland on Friday. It has already been signed electronically by senior figures in Washington and Tehran, including Trump.

But no official text has been made public. The vacuum has been filled by fear, speculation and, increasingly, by leaks of the text that may or may not be accurate.

Trump on Tuesday promised he would go though the MOU “word by word” in public — but not immediately, only in “the next couple of days.”

The bottom line is that Republican lawmakers, especially those of a more hawkish worldview, are deeply uneasy; some prominent conservative commentators are incandescent; and people around Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are making it known that requests to see the MOU have been rebuffed, which they cast as extraordinary and shabby treatment of an ally.

Democrats and liberals are mostly content to let the disarray on the right play out. Their stance, in essence, is that Trump plunged into a reckless and unnecessary war from which he is now willing to pay almost any price to escape.

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5927055-trump-iran-deal-criticism/

So Trump is ostensibly negotiating for the Nation of Israel, but he will not allow Israel to see what he, Trump, has committed that Israel will or will not do.

Correct me if I am wrong..I am pretty sure the *Help is on the way* statements brought the people to the streets on several occasions...all to be arrested or shot until they stopped doing it...and Trump stopping making these statements.

That is my recollection as well.

Trump admin rejected Israel’s request to see Iran deal text: report
New York Post, Jun 16. 2026

Israel wasn’t given advanced notice of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding that ends the war the Jewish state has been a party to for more than three months, Israeli media reported Tuesday.

“Israel asked to see the Iran-US MOU. the admin said: ‘NO,'” i24 News diplomatic correspondent Amichai Stein reported on X Tuesday.

That closely held document is said to directly affect Israel, demanding a stop to all “hostilities” in the region by US and Iranian “allies.”

Early details leaked Tuesday suggest Israel’s ongoing war on Hezbollah in Lebanon is explicitly mentioned in the text as being part of that cease-fire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — who on Monday defiantly said Israeli forces would remain in Lebanon “as long as necessary — is among those who have been shut out of seeing the deal, according to a source familiar with Israeli politics.

President Trump said he was displeased with Israel over its weekend strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon, which came as he was finalizing a peace deal with Iran, before suggesting that Syria’s new leaders “take care of” the Iran-backed terror group.

“I’m not happy with the way Israel has handled themselves with Lebanon and Hezbollah,” the president said Tuesday at the G7 summit. “They should have been able to handle themselves faster.”

“Israel is fighting Hezbollah too long, and too many people are being killed,” Trump also said. “You don’t have to knock down an apartment house every time you’re looking for somebody. There are a lot of people in those apartment houses and they’re not all Hezbollah.”

He added that Netanyahu “has to be more responsible with respect to Lebanon.”

“I did not like that, I let them know that,” Trump said of the Sunday strikes, which he called “too much.”

Senior US officials said Tuesday that Washington is not yet “ready” to publish the document, while Trump and Iranian media said it would be released after Friday’s formal signing ceremony in Switzerland.

A US official described the report of Israel being denied text as “not accurate,” adding that “the United States has remained in close coordination with our regional partners, including Israel, throughout the negotiations.”

A source familiar with US-Israel communications claimed “the Israelis did not make any such request of US negotiators.”

Netanyahu Furiously Scrambles to Meet With Trump Over Iran Deal
The New Republic, Jun 15, 2026

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is looking to schedule an immediate meeting with Trump, likely back in Washington, a person familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal Monday.

There is just no way that Netanyahu is thrilled about Trump’s plan to stop bombing Iran, something the Israeli leader has been dreaming about for decades.

It was Netanyahu who pulled the United States into this “joint” conflict, selling the narrative that Iran was building nuclear weapons—even when U.S. intelligence confirmed there was no imminent threat.

In the early days of the war, Secretary Marco Rubio admitted that the U.S. went to war because the administration “knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces.”

If Trump ends the war now, Netanyahu won’t walk away with anything. It’s unclear what the exact terms of the peace deal are—or whether any firm commitments have been made at all—but the U.S. has failed to satisfy Israeli objectives to execute regime change, undermine regional militias, or significantly upend Iranian missile production.

It’s also not clear what this deal will mean for Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon. On a phone call Monday, U.S. senior officials made clear that an Israeli withdrawal was not a condition of the deal, and that if Iran was not able to control Hezbollah, then Israel would have the right to respond.

Israeli officials were quick to condemn Trump’s deal with Iran, The Washington Post reported earlier Monday.

Nobody really knows what’s in the document, and (paraphrasing Taylor Swift) they know he’s a player, and he loves the game. We will see it (contents) when it makes for the best TV coverage.

Here’s my Understanding of the Memorandum: Iran knows, without a shadow of a sounds, that Trump will bomb the shit out them, while letting Bibi do the dirty, nasty work needed on the ground, if they pop their head out of that massive Whack-A-Mole of a region known as the ME.

Thus the “Iran” problem is as settled as it can ever possibly be… pending the cojones on the next X number of POTUSes.

Meanwhile, gasoline will drop to a price that (proportionately) will settle into a new norm, along with new generational “I remember when gas was XXX”, adapted to it.

I wanted to write a piece in that subject, but I can’t possibly stretch that idea into a viable essay.

@TankerTrackers

BREAKING: CRUDE OIL DEPARTS IRAN FOLLOWING A TWO MONTH LONG NAVY BLOCKADE

According to AIS data which we corroborated yesterday (2026-06-15) by satellite imagery, at least two National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) VLCC supertankers named DIONA (9569695) and HERO2 (9362073) have exited the US Navy blockade perimeter carrying a combined total of 3.8 million barrels of Iranian crude oil between them.

These are Iran's first crude oil exports in two months.

We can also see that NITC's STREAM (9569633) is approaching the blockade line from the EEZ of Pakistan; where she spent the past 7 weeks waiting to enter Iran.

US officials downplay text of the Iran agreement, saying it doesn’t account for back-channel commitments

https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/us-officials-downplay-text-iran-225040569.html

Quote
US negotiators are working to quickly release the text of the agreement between Washington and Tehran, even as they downplay the significance of the specific language in the document, US officials told CNN.

The officials described the text of the agreement as incredibly vague, mainly intended to create a more favorable environment for the highly technical, in-person talks to come. They added that the framework is aimed at providing Iran the ability to sell it politically to their internal audience.

Additionally, the officials said that the text of the memorandum of understanding — which Vice President JD Vance told CNN Monday is one-and-a-half pages long — didn't reflect critical back-channel commitments Iran has made to the US, which they argued gave them more confidence in signing on to the arrangement.

"People shouldn't read too much into the language of the MOU," one of the officials said, describing the agreement as a "political document."

Next to go under the bus for Trump's "Deal"; Israel!  **nononono* **nononono* **nononono*

@Bigun  @libertybele

I truly don't think Trump is throwing Israel "under the bus".  He wants to return to the plan for the Middle East in play before the Iran war.    There *are* changes coming to the Middle East --- and while Israel's not going under any bus, the changes will make Israel pretty damn uncomfortable --- until Israel begins to notice the air is fresher, the sun is brighter, the drones have gone silent and they are wealthier and more secure  --- and not just Israel, but the Gulf States, too.

POTUS wants to return to the Gaza peace and reconstruction initiatives, do the same in the West Bank and now in Lebanon.

Trump wants to go full speed ahead with the Abraham Accords --- with Israel a newly valued member of the neighborhood.

It'll get bumpy, but, let's get this done! ---

Quote
AI OVERVIEW

The Abraham Accords are a set of historic, U.S.-brokered agreements signed in 2020 that established normalized diplomatic, economic, and security relations between Israel and several Arab nations. Named for the shared patriarch of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, the accords marked a massive geopolitical shift in the Middle East.

Signatories and Status:

°United Arab Emirates (UAE): Signed the first historic normalization treaty alongside Israel in September 2020, followed by active embassies, direct flights, and extensive trade.

°Bahrain: Signed a parallel normalization declaration in September 2020, establishing formal diplomatic ties and security cooperation with Israel.

°Morocco: Established formal diplomatic relations in late 2020, leading to a surge in bilateral tourism and trade agreements.

°Sudan: Signed an initial agreement in principle in late 2020, though formal ratification has remained limited due to domestic and regional turmoil.

°Kazakhstan: Formally joined the broader diplomatic grouping in late 2025.

Key Impacts and Economic Ties

°Regional Architecture: The accords paved the way for unprecedented security, defense, and intelligence integration between Israel and Gulf partners to counter mutual threats like Iran.

°Trade and Tourism: Despite regional turbulence, trade and economic cooperation between Israel and accords partners have steadily grown, providing a major financial and investment boost to the region.

°Diplomatic Strategy: The accords effectively bypassed the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian peace process, taking an "outside-in" approach focused on geoeconomic incentives.

Future Expansion and Diplomacy

The accords have continued to hold immense strategic focus, with ongoing U.S. and regional efforts aimed at expanding the agreements to include other major players like Saudi Arabia—which has tied its potential normalization to a clear pathway for a Palestinian state.

(more)
https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5926899-trump-allies-oppose-iran-mou/

People who "win" a war do not make 'deals'.

Add the Pit Bull's spin: there are very delicate points that, if released, would cause concern to Pakistani and Qatari negotiators who made the deal happen.

Translation: there are secret addendums & corollaries that we who know cannot reveal. Ever.

I have a hard time digesting that the Arabs are going to give Iran [ who hates their guts ] US$300B to rebuild their fortified country, when they all know that Iran, given the opportunity, will gleefully destroy them.

That money is in addition to the US$300B reported to be in Iran's frozen funds, which will be returned to them at some point.

All this money could be the reason the IRGC has stood down for now. Meanwhile, the posers in the Iranian negotiators are acting "Rational and Smart" to snow the easily manipulated Americans into believing they are, somehow, not radical after being radical for the past 47 years and surrounded by radicals.

The conversion must have come like an instantaneous blinding flash out of the clear blue sky, an act of the unmentionable thing they worship.

When Trump returned from China, Trump was no longer Trump.
China turned him into Jimmy Carter. Trump is Jimmy Carter now.

I think the MSS got a bit of Chamberlain mixed into the parameters they down loaded into 47's brain.

Yet we learn on the AM cable news that Carney from Canada has seen it. And thinks its a good deal.

Translation: he has sources that saw it and is only too pleased that 47 is getting screwed.

Trump says Iran deal not ‘final,’ threatens to resume bombing ‘if they don’t behave’
by Julia Manchester - 06/17/26 7:57 AM ET

President Trump emphasized on Wednesday that memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Washington and Tehran is not final and threatened to resume strikes on Iran “if they don’t behave.”

“No, it’s not final. It’s a memorandum of understanding, and if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their head,” Trump said, speaking next to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the G7 Summit in Évian-les Baines, France.

“If they don’t behave, we’ll go back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head,” he continued, adding “they’ve misbehaved for 47 years.”

Trump and Vice President Vance electronically signed the preliminary deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, and Vance is slated to represent the U.S. in a formal signing ceremony in Switzerland on Friday.

Trump refutes reports of $300B investment in Iran, sends warning to Tehran 'if they misbehave'

President Donald Trump on Wednesday called reports of a leaked memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran "false" and said the U.S. would not be giving Iran any money as part of the ceasefire framework.

Asked by Fox News' Peter Doocy about reports of a $300 billion investment and reconstruction fund funded by Gulf allies, Trump responded, "It's false. False."

"You can invest if you want. I mean, what am I going to do, say nobody's ever allowed to invest? No, we're not investing. We're not putting up $0.10. And, people can decide to do that, but that's up to them. I mean, do you want me to say nobody's ever allowed to invest in in a country?" Trump said.

"We are not investing in it and we do not have a fund," Trump said.

Doocy asked Trump if he was asking Gulf countries to invest in any such fund. The president replied, "No, I'm not."

"If they do it, fine. But I would say they won't be doing it for a while until they find out the behavior. It's a behavior thing, but we are not investing. That's a false story that got picked up incorrectly," Trump said.

Trump also said that the memorandum of understanding is not final and that if Iran does not behave that the U.S. would return to bombing the country.

"No, it's not final it's a memorandum of understanding and if I don't like it, we'll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their head," he said.

"If I don't like it, if they don't behave, we'll go right back to dropping bombs right smack on the middle of their head, ok? Because they've misbehaved for 47 years."

This IS the understanding.

All else is blah... blah... blah...

The understanding is that Iran will open up the Strait of Hormuz and negotiate an end to its nuclear ambitions in exchange for the USA lifting the blockade and trade restrictions. The rest is pretty much pie in the sky.

I opposed the war to begin with, so I would just say that this deal reinforces my reasons for believing the military action was a fool's folly. In some ways, Iran emerges better off now than it was before the war. The mullahs have diplomatic legitimacy and access to world trade. They have suffered some military and economic losses, but over the long run the ability to trade and diplomatic legitimacy will outweigh the costs.

The USA emerges from this having spent a few hundred billion to (hopefully) eliminate the nuclear threat; but nothing gained insofar as Iran's other mischief. It is a net loss for us, and a net win for China.
