That was actually one of the first things that crossed my mind. A horrible job to have. I can't even imagine.
The company I worked for had high rises. We had several suicide jumpers. Messy, messy, messy.
@berdie I kinda have to think that way because of two things:
Foremost, my buddy owned a wrecker service. He didn't have a lot of rigs at the time, but he is pretty famous for his inventive hooking ability. So he got a lot of tough jobs. And because I understood it too (I have a knack for finding the balance points in complicated pulls), often he had me ride along on the rough stuff, which usually killed somebody.
Mostly the sheriff and the morgue handle the body (ies), but it is the wrecker crew that ultimately cleans up the site, rakes up the glass, and finds all the pieces they can... You'd be surprised at the gore one finds in that particular pursuit.
And secondly, and more along the lines of a jumper, Because of my rock climbing background, and again, my knack for finding proper balance points in complicates pulls, I assisted forest service, fish and game, and search & rescue in recovery efforts where they had to drag someone off a cliff, or from the bottom of a cliff that required access... That was sometimes rather unpleasant.

So yeah... My brain is wired that way - I see the mess. The poor bastards that have to clean it up get more of my empathy that the doer does.
