Horror as Frontier Airlines flight with 231 people on board kills a person on runway during takeoff

There was horror onboard a Frontier Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles when it struck and killed a person walking on the runway at Denver International Airport on Friday night.

Smoke filled the cabin as the incident sparked an engine fire and those onboard evacuated the aircraft via the emergency slides as a precaution.

The pedestrian was at least partially consumed by one of the engines, an official confirmed to ABC News.

A statement to the Daily Mail from Frontier said: 'As flight 4345 was departing this evening from Denver International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport, the aircraft reportedly struck a pedestrian on the runway during takeoff.

'Smoke was reported in the cabin and the pilots aborted takeoff. Passengers were then safely evacuated via slides as a matter of precaution.

'The Airbus A321 was carrying 224 passengers and seven crew members. We are investigating this incident and gathering more information in coordination with the airport and other safety authorities. We are deeply saddened by this event.'

There was at least one minor injury to a person on board the aircraft, which collided with the unknown individual on the runway at about 11:30pm local time.

Air traffic control audio from ATC.com picked up the crew speaking about the incident.

From the ATC recordings I listened to, The unalived person may have been ingested into one of the engines and then the engine caught fire.  Fire filled the cabin and the Pilot evacuated the plane on the runway.

I recall seeing a while back that someone committed suicide that way, knowing exactly what would happen. Eww.

Yup, Pretty much confirms what I suspected. 

Glad I don't have to clean that mess up.  The boy was Ginzu'd up real good by those jet engine blades and the pieces were flame grilled like a whopper at burger king.

When you’re driving onPeña Blvd approaching Denver International Airport, you’ll see a giant Blue Mustang statue with red eyes on your left just before the airport. This eerie sculpture is known as “Blucifer” and has quite a haunting past.

When it comes to Denver International Airport (DIA), many conspiracy theories are floating around. Everything from the barbed wire fence along the perimeter facing inwards (supposedly to keep hypothetical prisoners within), to the dark subliminal messaging that could be extracted from the murals painted on larger walls scattered throughout the terminals has been theorized.

However, at least one of the stories that have arisen since the inception of DIA is a complete fact; the story of Blue Mustang, more notably dubbed by residents Blucifer, is 100% true. The same sculpture that cannot be missed by visitors to and from DIA, which sits proudly in the median on Pena Boulevard linking the airport and the city, is most renowned for its act of patricide. More simply, in the process of being made, Blucifer unsuspectingly killed his maker.  .  .

They put a fence around the runway for a reason.  I feel bad for the passengers and crew who were inconvenienced by the unsolicited stupidity of a moron.  Stupid people dying is Darwin's survival of the fittest at work.

Our company put up brand new chain link fence last year, but the amount of snow we got this year quickly collapsed the fence as there was no where else to put the snow... I suspect the same thing happened in Denver?

I listened to some more audio from Ground Opps and the ATC.  Seems they found several Body parts (Arm and leg parts. on the runway.  At least it was near the point of impact and not on the runway where the plane finally stopped.

Glad I didn't have to bag and tag that stuff.

Police have revealed the identity of the man who was hit by a Frontier jet and mangled in its engine amid the investigation into his bizarre death.

Michael Mott, 41, scaled the fence at the Denver International Airport and walked across the runway, prompting investigators to rule his May 8 death a suicide.

The Denver City and County Medical Examiner's Office revealed Tuesday that Mott's cause of death was multiple blunt and sharp force injuries, caused by his collision with the jet engine.

'The cause of death was created by the engine of the plane and then there was a fire following that impact,' Chief Medical Examiner Dr Sterling McLaren said.

Though Mott was ingested by the engine, investigators were able to positively identify him through his fingerprints.

The Denver Police Department is working to recover a suicide note or any indication that Mott planned his death, reported the New York Post.

'We currently are looking for any notes, computers, anything like that, trying to identify places where he most recently was,' Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said.

Police said Mott had previous run-ins with law enforcement in the area, though they have not revealed whether he was a Denver resident, reported the Denver Gazette.

The man who walked in front of a Frontier plane, which nearly ended in catastrophe for the passengers, had 20 previous arrests, including for attempted murder.

41-year-old Michael Mott's most recent arrest was just one month before he trespassed at the airport.

In 2005, Mott was arrested for attempted murder with a gun. He later pleaded down to second-degree assault and was sentenced to just 6 years in prison. He was also charged with felony assault using a weapon during his time in prison.  ...

The plane was moving at 139 mph at the time of the crash, according to FlightAware.

The Denver airport trespasser who was dismembered by a jet engine after he calmly stepped in front of a Frontier flight had a dark criminal past, The Post can reveal.

Michael Mott, 41, racked up over 20 arrests in Colorado dating back to 2002 — including for attempted murder.

One of his mug shots show him with a bandaid on his forehead and a gash on his neck.

His most recent arrest was for felony trespassing just one month before he jumped the fence at Denver International in an attempt suicide mission.

Long ago and far away I was a firefighter and EMS.

I'm not one for gratuitous gore, but some scenes will show why this is such a bad idea and hopefully will deter others from taking their final walk on a runway.
Jet engines are unforgiving, especially at take off power.
