Can Virginia Be Fixed?
If Republicans don’t act fast,  Virginia will turn into Colorado, but it doesn’t have to happen that way, although it’ll be hard to undo the damage.

Election Day 2025 was a broad disaster for Republicans. Everyone could see that.

New Jersey stayed blue, but Virginia went back to being blue at the state level, and the Virginia Democrat party took greater dominance over the Old Dominion’s state legislature.

Nationally, Republicans could not avoid the backlash in voter turnout, since the common pattern is that the party out of power rebounds in the Virginia and New Jersey elections the year after the Presidential election.

However, Democrats didn’t just rebound, they superabounded, especially in Virginia.

Check the voter rolls for dead, illegal, and nonexistent voters.

Then cross check the mail-in ballots to see how many voted.

Bigger Civil Government = more Government civilian employees living in Maryland and Virginia = more liberal voters moving into The Old Dominion State.

At least West Virginia is safe.

The answer:
No.

The explanation:
There is no "fixing" the politics of this deeply-divided state. Those in the northern/eastern regions hold political, social and moral views that are 180-degrees opposed to the others who inhabit the southwestern/central portions.

Perhaps the only solution is to further divide the state -- as was done once before, in 1863, I believe.What was done before, can be done again.

This time, let the leftists retain "Virginia".

For the new state, I suggest the name, "Shenandoah".
There's even a great state song for that name, ready-to-use:

Republicans won't act at all.  Not in Virginia anyway.  The Virginia GOP is an unofficial arm of the Virginia Democrat Party.

It might work except it has too many syllables for democrats to agree.  They would prefer something simpler, like Tehran.

I live in Virginia.. no, it cannot be fixed. It has gone the way of Colorado.  Regardless of what becomes of this gerrymandering scheme, Virginia can’t come back, because of the scum that populates the northern counties bordering DC.
