The collapse would be so bad, we'll lose both Houses of Congress, and Trump will either be impeached or will resign after 1/20/2027.

This of exactly what I am afraid of..

@MOSSADil

NEW—Iran’s Fars news agency says the Strait of Hormuz “will remain under Iran’s management,” calling President Trump’s announcement “incomplete and inconsistent with reality.”

Trump had posted that a deal with Iran “has been largely negotiated” and would include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route.

This result has been screaming in our faces since Trump stopped bombing and started looking for a way out with a "deal". A "deal" that is an unenforceable lie from the start.

It was there to see all along.

I'm "pissing off" and taking a break.

IRGC already announced that they will not agree on the MOU that was made between the political Islamic Regime and the U.S. They say that they will keep the control over the Strait of Hormuz including toll. They said that Trump‘s and media claims are „far from reality“

Holding off until we know what’s actually true, but man, reports about an impending “deal” with the Iranian regime are baffling and deeply frustrating. Let’s see what happens.

I'm still waiting for the last deal to take effect.  Wasn't opening the Strait part of that agreement?

This seems a more likely version of what Trump is thinking, but is still DOA as far as the IRGC is concerned.  It also is no different from the last agreement which also promised a reopening of the Strait and a halt from attacks:

דרור בלאזאדה | Dror Balazada
@DBalazada

According to my sources, an agreement will be reached in the coming days:

Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz without charging any fees
The United States will not transfer any money to Iran at all
Another 60 days for negotiations regarding the nuclear issue
The sanctions will remain in place, except for some easing of oil-related sanctions
Lebanon will also be part of the agreement

I've stated for quite awhile that I don't think that Trump is going to finish his term.  I think he's going to step down before the impeachment(s).  Age has set in and he's tired of being shot at.

I think Trump threw his 4-D Chess set off the balcony, and started playing random darts.

I've given up trying to  to figure him out.  He's blowing it big time.

At some point in all of this, the messaging morphed from being about the Iranian people, to becoming yet another cold and calculated nuclear deal.

When referring to Don Jr.'s wedding I thought that this was a rather odd response;

"He added that if he does attend, “I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed. By the fake news, of course.”

Perhaps Trump family members have been threatened.  We know Ivanka was targeted.  Family means everything to Trump...who knows.  He called it quits in Iran for a reason -- this is one possibility??

He himself would not back down, but when it comes to the lives of his family ... I see him absolutely backing down.

The really sad part is that we are for the most part pretty main stream Trump supporters.  So there is going to a huge number of very irate people.

Plus he's throwing Israel under the bus.

And to clarify, the only Iranian “concessions” are:

- “ending” a war (whose ceasefire the regime has violated anyway)

- “opening” the Strait of Hormuz (which the regime can now credibly threaten w/ $5K mines & $40K drones)

- “agreeing” to nuclear talks down the line

Report: Iran has agreed to relinquish stockpile of highly enriched uranium as part of deal with US
Times of Israel, May 24, 2026

Iran has agreed to give up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium as part of an agreement with the US to end the war, two US officials tell the New York Times.

According to the officials, Iran has committed in a general statement to giving up the uranium, rather than reaching an agreement with the US on exactly how it will relinquish it. Instead, the exact details will be worked out during the negotiations that will begin once a deal is reached.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As alarm grew about the rise of fascism in Europe, Chamberlain resorted to attempts at news censorship to control public opinion. He confidently announced after Munich that he had secured "peace for our time".

Academics, politicians and diplomats have intensely debated the 1930s appeasement policies ever since they occurred. Historians' assessments have ranged from condemnation ("Lesson of Munich") for allowing Hitler's Germany to grow too strong to the judgment that Germany was so strong that it might well win a war and that postponing a showdown was in the best interests of the West.

Everybody but us wants us to surrender unconditionally to Iran.

The published deal is a WORSE version of Obama's JCPOA.

If agreed, it will be a huge humiliation for Trump, and a huge victory for the regime in Iran

I don't believe Trump went through all this trouble to surrender.

He's not surrendering, he's making a deal with the victor. Easy enough to understand.

The only optimism I have is that Iran will reject thr deal. Which, in turn, will give full legitimacy,  domestically,  for Trump to attack.

except 47 will give them more time to come up with another deal he can swallow politically.

Iran Update Special Report, May 21, 2026

Excerpts
Iran continues to attempt to build support for its protection racket in the Persian Gulf, in which vessels must pay, coordinate with, or receive permission from Iran's preferred mechanism to transit the Strait of Hormuz in order to avoid attacks from Iranian forces. Iranian Ambassador to France Mohammad Amin Nejad told Bloomberg on May 21 that Iran and Oman are discussing a permanent toll system to formalize control over maritime traffic through the strait.

Iranian officials and state media also reported that commercial vessels coordinated with IRGC Navy forces to transit the strait, while IRGC framed this coordination as necessary for safe passage.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on May 21 that an Iranian toll system would be unacceptable and “would make a diplomatic deal unfeasible,” which shows that Iran's Strait demands remain a major obstacle to any US-Iran agreement.

ISW-CTP previously assessed that allowing Iran to continue enforcing protocols would be detrimental to US and international commercial interests, as it would mean Iran could prevent ships from traversing the strait anytime it wants.

Iran is continuing to use the ceasefire period to reconstitute its drone and missile program. Sources familiar with US intelligence assessments on Iranian reconstitution told CNN on May 21 that Iran will likely be able to reconstitute damage to Iran's defense industrial base “in a matter of months, not years,” which is “much faster” than the US intelligence community estimated.

This information does not clarify which elements of the defense industrial base or how specific reconstitution would result in changes to reconstitution timelines, which makes the information difficult to judge on its own merits. These timelines are impossible to evaluate without answering such questions, and the assumptions underlying these timelines should be rigorously interrogated, therefore. The officials partially attribute this to some of Iran's defense industrial base remaining intact.

Iran has reportedly been replacing missile sites, launchers, and production sites destroyed during the airstrikes.

It is unclear what constitutes a ”production site” in this context. A production site could theoretically range from an entire factory complex (which would need to be rebuilt if destroyed) to a single piece of complex but rapidly replaceable machinery. The lack of clarification also makes this evaluation difficult to judge on its own merits. Iran still has 50 percent of its drone capabilities, which amounts to thousands of drones, as well as a “large percentage” of Iran's coastal defense cruise missile stockpile left, according to these officials.

Iran's drone program is far more difficult to degrade for long periods of time compared to the ballistic missile program. The drone program relies on less complex and more easily-produced systems compared to the ballistic missile program, which requires huge facilities with extremely specialized equipment (like planetary mixers for solid fuel, for example). The officials observed that Iran has around two-thirds of its missile launchers after digging out many during the ceasefire.

CNN noted that this estimation may still include buried launchers, however.

The People's Republic of China (PRC) and Russia are helping Iran reconstitute its drone and missile program. The PRC has sent missile components, according to US officials familiar with intelligence assessments, speaking to CNN.

There is no evidence that these missile components reached Iran. CNN added that the US naval blockade on Iranian ports may have hindered Russian and Chinese efforts to support Iran's reconstitution.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that US forces redirected 94 vessels and disabled four others since the start of the blockade on Iranian ports on April 13.

US forces previously seized the Iranian-flagged Touska in the Gulf of Oman on April 19, and its cargo, which was described as “conditional contraband,” including electronic components, computer systems, machinery, and power generation equipment.

Unspecified security sources told Reuters that the Touska was likely transporting dual-use items from the PRC to Iran because the vessel had done so previously.

The PRC has sent multiple shipments of missile fuel precursors to support Iranian missile reconstitution efforts following the June 2025 Israel-Iran War, even during the most recent war.

US officials told the New York Times on May 9 that Russia is shipping drone components to Iran through the Caspian Sea to help rebuild Iranian drone capabilities as well.

New FT reporting: Iran’s IRGC used a company in Ras al Khaimah (UAE) to procure roughly 1.8 tonnes of Chinese-made satellite antenna equipment. Route: Shanghai → Dubai → Iran.

This is a clear signal of architecture in Iran’s military space capabilities. The company: Telesun, based in Ras al Khaimah free zone. It arranged the shipment of Chinese satellite antennas from Shanghai, routed through Dubai. End-user: IRGC Aerospace Force (military), not Iran’s civilian space program.

Which (if any) of Trump's original demands do we actually get?

- Permanent dismantling of sites at Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordo’s Nuclear facilities.

- A total halt to all uranium enrichment on Iranian soil.

- All existing enriched uranium must be shipped to the IAEA outside the country.

- Unrestricted IAEA Access,  "Anytime, anywhere" inspections of all military and civilian sites.

- Making the Strait of Hormuz neutral, declaring the waterway a Free Maritime Zone  with no blockades allowed.

- Limiting ballistic missile ranges and quantities to defensive only levels.

- A complete halt to funding and arming groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis.

- Freedom for all foreign nationals and dual-citizens held in Iran.

- A formal pact to stop targeting US assets and Gulf neighbors.

Only hours ago, the IRGC was reaffirming their support for Hezbollah.  They also said they were open to temporarily opening the Strait, but would reimpose tolls after a short grace period.  And of course no mention of their nuclear ambitions.

- Unconditional surrender;

- Help is on the way.

I guess I'll chime in.

This isn't about oil or the Strait of Hormuz.

During Epic Fury they found out the most important thing. They can't stop all of Iran's missiles and drones.

Trump's threat to take out Iran's infrastructure was shit talking. And this is why.

AI compiled:

Arab states, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain), are among the world's most reliant on desalination due to extreme water scarcity, minimal renewable freshwater, and high demand from population growth, urbanization, and industry

Qatar: Highest overall reliance (~61–77% of total water demand; ~99% of drinking water).

csis.org

Bahrain: ~59–67.5% of total supply; >90% of drinking water (fully reliant in some contexts since ~2016).

aljazeera.com

UAE: ~42–52% of total; >80% (or ~42% in some drinking water stats) of potable/drinking water.

csis.org

Kuwait: ~42% of total; ~90% of residential/drinking water.

csis.org

Oman: ~31% of total; ~86% of drinking/municipal needs.

csis.org

Saudi Arabia: Lowest in the GCC at ~18–31% of total demand (or ~50% in some supply stats); ~70% of drinking water. It is the world's largest producer by volume due to its size.

Saudi Arabia: ~30–33 major plants operated by SWCC (plus others); world's largest producer by volume. Many supply drinking water to cities like Riyadh via pipelines.

en.wikipedia.org

UAE: Over 70 plants (some reports cite dozens per emirate); key ones in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, etc. Supplies a large share of potable water.

en.wikipedia.org

Kuwait: Around 29 plants (per some ownership data); very high reliance for drinking water.
Qatar, Oman, Bahrain: Fewer but critical plants (e.g., 20–30 range in ownership stats); often near-total reliance for municipal supply.

That is +- 180 targets.

Targeting the top 50–100 largest or most strategic ones (especially power-water complexes) could suffice for widespread disruption, with the worst effects in smaller Gulf states.

Russia and maybe the Chinese are providing precise targeting information.  Iran has been given the time to prepare for this.

Iran doesn't give a flying rat's ass about any of the people in the Gulf states.

The potential loss of life is staggering.

Do you think those Gulf states are willing to risk it?

Trump needs to ditch The Art of the Deal and read Sun Tzu instead.

Sun Tzu's The Art of War states "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak." Iran has studied this work, 47 has not because he does not read Chinese or anything not written by an American.

White House says ex-Secretary of State Pompeo should ‘shut his stupid mouth’ on Iran
by Ian Swanson - 05/24/26 7:29 AM ET

White House Communications Director Stephen Cheung blasted former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for criticizing a deal being negotiated by the Trump administration to end the Iran war, telling the one-time Trump ally to “shut his stupid mouth.”

Cheung wrote that Pompeo “has no idea what the f— he’s talking about,” after Pompeo wrote in a post on X that the deal being floated was “not remotely America First.”

“Mike Pompeo has no idea what the f— he’s talking about,” Cheung wrote in his salty response. “He should shut his stupid mouth and leave the real work to the professionals. He’s not read into anything that’s happening, so how would he know.”

Cheung’s post came in response to criticism from Pompeo comparing the emerging deal to one that would have been negotiated by Obama-era officials. The Trump administration withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal negotiated by the Obama team and have frequently criticized that agreement.

“The deal being floated with Iran seems straight out of the Wendy Sherman-Robert Malley-Ben Rhodes playbook: Pay the IRGC to build a WMD program and terrorize the world,” Pompeo wrote.

“Not remotely America First. It’s straightforward: Open the damned strait. Deny Iran access to money. Take out enough Iranian capability so it cannot threaten our allies in the region. Overdue. Let’s go.”

Malley was the lead negotiator on the Obama-era deal while Sherman was a State Department official and Rhodes was Obama’s national security adviser.

Pompeo was one of several conservatives on Saturday criticizing what appears to be an emerging deal to end the Iran war. Sens. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) also offered criticisms.

Few concrete details of the deal were public Saturday, thought it appeared it would include a commitment by Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20 percent of the world’s oil supply flows. Gas prices in the United States have shot up as a result of the Iran war, piling pressure on the Trump administration to find an end to the conflict.

The deal also appeared likely to end a U.S. blockade of Iran’s ports.

But the deal did not appear as if it would include any immediate limitations on Iran’s nuclear program. Reports suggested it would lead to a 60-day ceasefire to buy time for further negotiations on the nuclear issue. That appeared to trigger much of the criticism from Senate conservatives and Pompeo.

“Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “In addition to many other elements of the Agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened.”

Pompeo worked for Trump during his first term, but appeared to fall out with the president after contemplating a run for the White House himself.

Trump pulled security protection for Pompeo and other officials he’d tangled with upon taking office in 2025, despite threats from Iran on the former secretary of State.

Why do y’all keep falling for this?  Israel will not allow Trump to end the conflict with Iran.  Benny Gantz just issued a directive from on high: no ceasefire in Lebanon.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that "significant progress" has been made toward reaching a peace deal with Iran, but he cautioned Sunday that it is not "final progress."

Rubio made the comments during his four-day trip to India, saying he hopes to hear good news on negotiations in the coming hours.

He said the Trump administration has already succeeded in one of its major goals, “that is a world that no longer has to be in fear or worry about an Iranian nuclear weapon.”

Iranian president claims nation is 'not seeking nuclear weapons'

https://twitter.com/TreyYingst/status/2058521655685648882

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed on Sunday that Iran is "not seeking nuclear weapons," according to Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst.

Pezeshkian made the comments as the U.S. and Iran appear closer than ever to achieving a peace deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

"We are ready to assure the world that we are not seeking nuclear weapons. We are not seeking instability in the region," Pezeshkian said.

This comes after reports from Reuters, citing Iranian officials, that Tehran is not willing to give up its near-weapons grade enriched uranium this weekend.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that ensuring Iran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon is the primary goal of the conflict for the U.S.

I am deeply concerned about what we are hearing about an Iran “deal,” being pushed by some voices in the administration.

President Trump’s decision to strike Iran was the most consequential decision of his second term. He was right to do so, and we achieved extraordinary military results—including destroying all of their missiles & drones and sinking their entire navy.

If the result of all that is to be an Iranian regime—still run by Islamists who chant “death to America”—now receiving billions of dollars, being able to enrich uranium & develop nuclear weapons, and having effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that outcome would be a disastrous mistake.

The details are still coming out—and I pray the early reports are wrong—but the fact that Biden’s Rob Malley is praising the deal is not encouraging.

President Trump believes in peace through strength, and his strong leadership has already made America much safer. He should continue to hold the line, defend America & enforce the red lines he has repeatedly drawn.

BREAKING: Iran says contrary to what the US claims, the now fully leaked "Memorandum of Understanding" contains no Iranian commitments to hand over nuclear stockpiles, remove equipment, shut down nuclear facilities, or even commit to not build a nuclear bomb. Instead, all nuclear issues are deferred to a 60 day period of negotiations after signing, per Fars News.

For this period to start, the US would need to accept no nuclear commitments from Iran, agree to release $100 billion of Iranian frozen assets, lift the naval blockade, lift all oil and petrochemical sanctions during the negotiation period, pay $270 billion in war reparations, and accept Hormuz under "full permanent sovereign Iranian management and authority" at pre-war traffic levels with no US presence.

Iran Agreed to Surrender Enriched Uranium, End Nuclear Ambitions in Tentative Deal with Trump: Reports

Multiple reports have indicated that U.S. negotiators believe that Iran has committed to giving up its nuclear ambitions and its highly enriched uranium as a part of a broader peace deal with President Donald Trump.

On Saturday afternoon, President Trump announced that an “agreement has been largely negotiated” between Washington and Tehran. However, Mr Trump said that the final details of the deal were still being discussed and would not be made public at the time.

According to a report from the New York Times, citing “two U.S. officials”, the Islamist regime in Iran verbally agreed to U.S. negotiators that it would give up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

Although exactly how the nuclear material would be removed from the country remains unclear, such an agreement would fulfil a longstanding and major aim of the White House.
