The only way that Iran gives up control of the Strait of Hormuz is with MASSIVE sanctions relief. Once this takes place, Iran will see a rapid influx of cash, and this will eliminate all leverage the United States has to secure nuclear concessions. The War is lost.

Genuinely curious what shifted for the President between the decisiveness of Epic Fury and 40 days of effective military campaign, then 60 days of falling back to where we were right before Epic Fury - circular negotiations, little more than artificial progress.

A “deal” to talk about nuclear material over time feels like we’re back to square 1, with a lot of unnecessary challenges in between.

It has been mentioned in several 'tweets' the Witcoff was the one encouraging Trump NOT to proceed (you can add Jared to that mix -- he's part of the 'special envoy').  IF this deal comes to fruition as I warned -- Kushner will be the downfall of Trump's presidency and I'll add quite possibly the downfall of America.

Which (if any) of Trump's original demands do we actually get?

- Permanent dismantling of sites at Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordo’s Nuclear facilities.

- A total halt to all uranium enrichment on Iranian soil.

- All existing enriched uranium must be shipped to the IAEA outside the country.

- Unrestricted IAEA Access,  "Anytime, anywhere" inspections of all military and civilian sites.

- Making the Strait of Hormuz neutral, declaring the waterway a Free Maritime Zone  with no blockades allowed.

- Limiting ballistic missile ranges and quantities to defensive only levels.

- A complete halt to funding and arming groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis.

- Freedom for all foreign nationals and dual-citizens held in Iran.

- A formal pact to stop targeting US assets and Gulf neighbors.

Only hours ago, the IRGC was reaffirming their support for Hezbollah.  They also said they were open to temporarily opening the Strait, but would reimpose tolls after a short grace period.  And of course no mention of their nuclear ambitions.

Yes we punted. Why? Trump is smarter than this.  I do believe Witcoff and Kushner advised him, but I also think there's something else that happened.  Trump getting in over his head? Perhaps, but that is unusual for him - through his presidencies, he's been one step ahead.

BREAKING: Iran directly rejects Trump's claim that Hormuz "will be opened" as part of a "largely negotiated" agreement he just posted on Truth Social, saying Trump's claim is "far from the truth" and that Hormuz "will remain under Iranian management" with Iran retaining exclusive permanent authority over route, timing, method, and permits, per Fars.

Iran also confirms the nuclear file has not been discussed and that American officials themselves have told Iran in multiple messages that "Trump's tweets are primarily for domestic American propaganda and media consumption" and "should be disregarded." The "largely negotiated" deal claim therefore has no basis.

I’m going to wait and see what happens before I make a formal opinion, but if Trump signs a ridiculous deal with Iran, it will destroy US credibility around the world, and in the eyes of the Muslim world they would have defeated the greatest power in the west….

This is 100 times worse than the withdrawal from Afghanistan. This will be the worst geopolitical move in the history of our country……..and for the people of Iran. It will be an absolute betrayal….

According to  Al Jazeera, the Iran deals includes unfreezing billions in Iranian funds, lifting U.S. blockade, pulling U.S. forces away, reopening strait of Hormuz though with tolls to Iran, and allowing Iran to keep its enriched uranium. This would be a total U.S. surrender.
