From reply 879 above:
"US President Trump considers plan to seize Iran's Kharg Island, a key oil export hub in the Persian Gulf, Axios reports."
From reply 881 above:
"The Pentagon says ground forces may be the only way to secure Iran's uranium..."
You KNEW this was coming, right?
(after all, I've been warning about it in numerous earlier posts)
Not mentioned as well, a large ground force will be required to seize that portion of Iran that abuts the Straits of Hormuz, to create a large "safety zone" there in order to guarantee free passage of ships through the Straits.
And on top of that, a requisite number of troops will be required to hunt down remaining missiles, ammo, nuclear material and labs, etc. Are you gonna trust "UN inspectors" on this?
Perhaps the military will even to oversee some governmental operations as well -- a la Japan after the surrender there.
How many thousands of troops will this require?
30,000?
40,000?
Don't know yet.
But it will be substantial.
Having said all that, I will say one more thing:
This is "the cost" of VICTORY.
If you want to WIN (I do), then you have to be willing to "pay the price".
Are you...?
Did you really, really, really believe we could just bomb them into submission...?
Sorry if you don't like this reply.
