The US leader spoke as the US-Israeli war against Iran entered a second week.

On Thursday, Trump had said he’d welcome Kurdish involvement, saying: “I think it’s wonderful that they want to do that, I’d be all for it.” He was also reported to have discussed the possibility with Kurdish leaders.

It was not clear what brought about the change in the president’s position.

Senior officials from United States and Israel have recently discussed an unprecedented scenario: deploying special forces on Iranian soil to physically secure the stockpile of enriched uranium accumulated by Iran. This was reported Sunday morning by Axios, citing two U.S. administration officials and sources familiar with the details of the plan.

At the center of the proposed complex operation are about 450 kilograms of uranium enriched to a level of 60 percent. According to intelligence assessments, this is a critical quantity that could be rapidly enriched to the military-grade level of 90 percent-enough to produce no fewer than 11 nuclear bombs.

According to the report, powerful Israeli and American strikes last June destroyed most of the centrifuges at Iran’s nuclear facilities and caused structural collapses that sealed the entrances to underground tunnels. As a result, the uranium stockpile is now trapped under the rubble at the facilities in Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, Natanz Nuclear Facility, and particularly at the facility in Isfahan.

I'm focused on what toppling Iran in this moment is likely to cost the United States.

Trump won based on three critical promises, or "the sacreds" as some called them:  the economy, immigration and no wars.

Trump is not doing well on the economy and now he's screwing with another of the sacreds:  no new wars, no interventions, no nation building.  If he breaks this promise, he'll lose enough of his base to lose the midterms.  If he loses the midterms his remaining presidency crashes and burns, and in 2028 the lost voters won't be back.

So, we can go all in to save Iran.  But, be willing to do this accepting at least a decade of total democrat-socialist rule and the loss of the best of America.

Or hé can claim mission accomplished and wrap it up --- this week.

President Reagan was still standing at the Capitol after taking the Oath of Office when it was reported that planes carrying the American hostages had just cleared Iranian airspace on their way to Germany.

Those first hostages freed on inauguration day were from the Iran Hostage Crisis -1979-1981.  Iran-Contra events focused on a separate set of hostages kidnapped in Lebanon starting in 1984.

Israeli strikes in Lebanon hit over 600 terror targets, kill more than 190 terrorists, IDF says

Israel completed an additional wave of strikes across Lebanon, eliminating hundreds of terror targets over the past week, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) said Sunday.

Israel’s Northern Command pummeled over 600 terror targets across Lebanon with approximately 820 munitions from the air, sea and ground, the IDF said.

The strikes killed more than 190 terrorists, including Abu Hamza Rami, a commander of the Islamic Jihad in Lebanon, according to the IDF. Five other commanders were also killed in the strikes.

The IDF said Israel targeted rocket launchers in Lebanon on Saturday that had fired missiles toward Israel. It said an Israeli Air Force aircraft also eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist “in an area where the troops were operating in a forward defensive posture.”

Over the course of last week, the IDF said 27 waves of strikes were conducted in the Beirut region, including five in the Dahieh area.

The IDF said it has “assumed forward defensive positions” in recent days to establish additional defensives to protect residents of northern Israel.

I am one who is very hesitant about using our military for foreign entanglements, but now that we've peeled back the onion it's now pretty obvious that Iran was making every effort to light the world on fire.

In some sense we got lucky not knowing how bad it was going in, but there's no doubt now that something big and radical needed doing.

Not mentioned as well, a large ground force will be required to seize that portion of Iran that abuts the Straits of Hormuz, to create a large "safety zone" there in order to guarantee free passage of ships through the Straits.

And on top of that, a requisite number of troops will be required to hunt down remaining missiles, ammo, nuclear material and labs, etc. Are you gonna trust "UN inspectors" on this?

Perhaps the military will even to oversee some governmental operations as well -- a la Japan after the surrender there.

How many thousands of troops will this require?

But it will be substantial.

Having said all that, I will say one more thing:
This is "the cost" of VICTORY.
