That's just it. Trump IS ending this war - a war that THEY started.
Trump is doing what he said he despised previous American leaders doing: intervening, nation-building, war- mongering.
Here's the philosophy and promises Trump campaigned and previously governed on:

This is from Trump's speech in Riyadth to Arab leaders May 13, 2025 at the Saudi-US Investment Forum:
“In recent years, far too many American presidents have been afflicted with the notion that it’s our job to look into the souls of foreign leaders and use U.S. policy to dispense justice for their sins … I believe it is God’s job to sit in judgement — "
"This great transformation has not come from Western interventionists … giving you lectures on how to live or how to govern your own affairs. No, the gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so-called ‘nation-builders,’ ‘neo-cons,’ or ‘liberal non-profits,’ like those who spent trillions failing to develop Kabul and Baghdad, so many other cities."
“In the end, the so-called ‘nation-builders’ wrecked far more nations than they built — and the interventionists were intervening in complex societies that they did not even understand themselves.”

Who said anything about nation building (other than the Democrats whose talking points you parrot)
When you remove a nation's governing body, you're intervening. When you ask a nation's citizenry to wait for your go ahead before taking to the streets, you're intervening. When you insist on picking a nation's new leader, you're nation building. When you draw plans to drop your soldiers on the ground to finish removing remnants of the old government and arm and train the new, you're nation building. When you rebuild the infrastructure, you're nation building.
