Unfortunately the Red state GOP's are choosing to be the Mike Pence contingent, always civil and above the fray, not getting themselves sullied by such unsavory and lowbrow behavior.

That said it all could backfire on the blue states if we get dynamic and articulate candidates that can convert Indies and Rats to their message. Rats are forgetting how Trump won but cutting across demographics with a message and campaigning that landed votes.

Time for the Western Counties to rattle the saber and push for moving the border (takes an act of Congress). No way someone can represent from the tidal Potomac across the Piedmont, two mountain ranges (Appalachians and Alleghenies) , the Shenandoah Valley, and more to the West Virginia Border. The cultures and needs of the respective populations are too different.

Yeah, Florida is not an option.  A fair districts amendment passed some time ago.  Also, the party will fail to hold all of the seats it has now because Trump is cratering.  The Republicans are going to lose control of the House until at least 2031.

FL has a GOP majority because of DeSantis -- not because of Trump.  Just sayin'  DeSantis has proven he is a strong and very competent leader.  Unfortunately, DeSantis is term limited which yes, could be the end of FL staying red.  I'm hoping for Byron Donalds as governor. He is endorsed by Trump but he also has a conservative record.  FL has done well with voters voting for a conservative legislature.

We'll know in a few months.  It's been a nice conservative ride in FL.  I'm hoping that continues.

This is pretty bleak, but the Virginia map is 6:5 Republican in a wave election ... which is quite possible if an imbecile like Gavin Newsom is President in 2030.  Every map gets redrawn in 2031.

The Dems did an exceptional job of evening out the populations among the districts (avoiding a GAFFNEY v. CUMMINGS challenge).

Average voting population per district:  784,672
Standard deviation: 0.2%

With evenly distributed populations, it will be very difficult for Democrats to hold 10 seats with such a slim majority.


Vindman (Hardline Communist) will likely switch from District 7 to District 1.
Kiggins (R) will remain in District 2 and has a chance of winning it.
Scott and McClellan (Dems) are safe in Districts 3 and 4 respectively.
Wittman (R) should move to District 5.
McGuire and Cline (Reps) will likely challenge each other for District 6 nomination.  With the right climate, a Republican could win this one.

Incumbents should win the remainder.

Same here.. came here in 1995, while in the AF.  I took the assignment to Langley AFB in Hampton partly because VA was a well-run state that was reliably red during federal elections.  George Allen was Governor, the Senate was slightly controlled by dems and the House of Delegates by the GOP.  Then in the mid-2000s, it all started to go to shit.  Aside from the anomalies of Bob McDonnell and Glenn Youngkin, it’s been dying ever since.

Low turnout where it counted.  It only passed by 41,000 votes.  Rural Virginia had an excellent chance to stop this thing cold but the apathy and laziness of those who never bothered to vote won out.

Tim Kaine (D-VA) argued that “Donald Trump weaponized redistricting, first in North Carolina in 2023, and the three seats that he stole were the margin of victory for the reconciliation bill” and said that “in Republican states that have followed Donald Trump’s effort to rig elections, they’ve done it in the back room.”

Kaine said, “[W]hen Donald Trump weaponized redistricting, first in North Carolina in 2023, and the three seats that he stole were the margin of victory for the reconciliation bill that kicked 80,000 Virginians off the SNAP food benefit program and cut hundreds of millions of dollars of Medicaid funding to Virginia, Virginians said, look, we’ve got to stand up to tyrants, and we don’t want to have this president try to interfere with election results this November or in November of ’28 with a Congress that doesn’t have a backbone to stand up to him. So, we’re going to stand up against tyrants and try to match what he’s doing.”

He added that “in Republican states that have followed Donald Trump’s effort to rig elections, they’ve done it in the back room. The legislature has cooked up a plan, stolen Democratic seats, and just forced it down the voters’ throats. Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries Cautions Florida Against Redistricting After Virginia Win

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) has cautioned the Republican Party in Florida from redistricting after Virginia voted to approve a plan that could grant Democrats four additional U.S. House Seats.

“The constitutional amendment narrowly backed by voters bypasses a bipartisan redistricting commission to allow the use of new districts drawn by Virginia’s Democratic-led General Assembly,” reported the Hartford Courant. “The state Supreme Court is considering whether the plan is illegal.”

In a statement to PunchBowl News founder Jake Sherman, Hakeem Jeffries said that Republicans in Florida will suffer further losses if they move forward with redistricting.

 “If Florida Republicans proceed with this illegal scheme, they will only create more prime pick-up opportunities for Democrats, just as they did with Trump’s dummymander in Texas,” he said.

“We will aggressively target for defeat Mario Díaz-Balart, Maria Elvira Salazar, Carlos Giménez, Kat Cammack, Anna Paulina Luna, Laurel Lee, Cory Mills and Brian Mast. We are prepared to take them all on, and we are prepared to win.” Jeffries added, “Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time.”

The House Minority Leader also said on X that “Democrats defeated Donald Trump’s gerrymandering scheme in Virginia tonight. We will crush the DeSantis Dummymander in Florida next. Maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time.”

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said that decreasing the number of GOP-leaning seats in Virginia from five to one is “a response to Donald Trump’s efforts to rig the midterm  elections” and Republicans will “be fortunate if they even come away with two” seats as a result of Texas redistricting.

Host Laura Coates asked, “Clearly, an instance of trying to fight a kind of fire with fire. But the number of Republican-leaning districts in Virginia is going down from five to one, and there will be many who complain that gerrymandering is gerrymandering is gerrymandering. Is that fair in Virginia?”

Jeffries answered, “Well, this is a temporary measure that was a response to Donald Trump’s efforts to rig the midterm elections. We needed to stop the MAGA power grab.”

Later, Jeffries discussed potential redistricting in Florida and said that “in the same way that, in Texas, Republicans, who claimed that were taking five seats away from us aren’t winning those five seats, they’ll be fortunate if they even come away with two, in Florida, if they go down this map, with the failed Republican policies, the unpopular war, the fact that costs are out of control, the corruption that’s taken place in real time as a result of the Trump cartel, and the failure of Republicans to actually make life better for the people of Florida and all across the country, they’re going to suffer significant defeats in that state.”
