I haven't watched the movie, but glad you enjoyed it along with Meryle Streep.  We went to see 'Out of Africa' and we left after the first half hour and I'm a Robert Redford fan.  I have to disagree with your review of her; I'm just not a Streep fan.    I haven't seen her in anything I liked.

Watched 'No Country for Old Men' on ROKU yesterday. It is a good movie but my God, it is so depressing.

The character played by Woodie Harrelson is completely gratuitous. He shows up in a couple of scenes and then is unceremoniously killed adding 'nothing' to the plot or to the movie.

The movie trope of the "super-villain" who can find anyone anywhere, and has the ability to infiltrate any building and suddenly just 'show up' anywhere at anytime, and cannot be killed is a little overused at this point. The movie had me hooked and interested until the end, but it is far from my favorite movie.

It's a Coen brothers film, and NOTHING they've put out does anything for me.
I tried watching "Oh, Brother", and didn't last 20 minutes. And I enjoyed the soundtrack (which stands on its own, completely separate from the film).

I did watch the one "Inside Llewyn Davis", and it was totally boring, except for the character doing singer Tom Paxton, who was very good (but NOTHING else in that movie was).

All I have to see is "Coen Brothers"... and I know it's nothing I'll really enjoy.

Having said that, this weekend's watching will be "The Prophecy", with Christopher Walken.
We'll see how that one goes.

Watching the 'Moonshiners' series on Discovery, with a lot of skepticism. It is a fairly interesting show. The theme is that it is being filmed as a documentary 'reality' show, but do not believe that at all. These guys are 'supposedly' committing fairly serious felonies on each episode while being recorded. No way that is real.

One moonshiner calls another moonshiner. The person who is called says, I don't talk on the phone. You have to come see me in person. They get together and discuss their moonshine situation together and it is all filmed and broadcast on TV. Ok, so you won't speak on the phone but you are fine talking together about everything on TV?

It is a fun show. Just do not take it too seriously. It is a TV show. It is not real life.

Streaming episodes commercial-free gives a completely different viewing experience.

Not watching it right now, but I have a ticket to watch it tomorrow night in a local theater: the movie Ben-Hur, the 1959 version starring Charlton Heston. The theater where I'll be seeing it is one that also serves food & drink at your seat while you watch the movie, so I'll be having dinner at the same time. I'm looking forward to it. But since the movie is nearly four hours long, I'm hoping they include the Intermission in the middle of the movie.

I think almost every man over the age of 60 plans their public activities around the P organ. 

In similar situations, I always tell my wife that if this is one of those kind of events, that we sit near an exit door to minimize anyone noticing.

I've seen this version of "Ben-Hur" many times, but always on television. This is my first time seeing it on a theater screen. The chariot race was intense!

I have only seen it on the big screen once, when I was a kid. Every time since has been on a TV. Ben Hur (the Charleton Heston version) and Gone With the Wind are two of my all time favorites.

Watching "Young Sherlock Holmes" On Prime. Only two episodes in and it seems like a good watch. I have read most of the stories when I was younger and you can see the formation of his life style this. Very fast paced.

IMO, the only similarity between the two storylines is that a little girl/teenager is his ward.

Has anyone watched the program where the actor Stanley Tucci eats food in Italy? The promos are so annoying, I'm quite sure it would be impossible to endure even five minutes of the show.

vergette and I just finished binging PONIES. If you are a fan of Cold war spy drama I highly recommend. Two CIA agents are supposedly killed in a plane crash in Russia. Their wives convince their former handler to consider them as operatives. The handler convinces Bush senior to do it since every male they have sent in has been killed and no one would suspect women of being agents. They weave actual; events in the story to make it more believable.

You guys need to check out THE BOROUGHS...if you have Netflix.

Very entertaining...great cast...8 episodes.  I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

IMO, it's in the genre of Cocoon and believe it or not - Stranger Things, but for elders.

The Boroughs is like "The Villages" in Florida, where elders spend their remaining days...and have "...a choice of Three Championship Golf Courses"

The Last Ship on Netflix is an excellent show portraying the outcome of a pandemic that is extremely deadly.  I see this exact outcome happening in the next 20 years.

Fauci and his cohorts of genocidal maniacs have been busy to find the perfect pathogen to release, and it will happen.  I keep hearing he may get indicted, but nothing happens.  He is directly responsible along with other for the creation of COVID and what I believe was the interntional release of said pathogen.  Millions are dead because of this slimeball, and he is still the highest paid federal employee with his pension.  The man should have long ago danced at the end of a rope.

Back to The Last Ship, it was a very engaging story, and like I said, I can see it happpening for real in the not too distant future.

Watching an Alfred Hitchcock marathon in black and white. You would not believe how many actors you can recognize when they were very young.
Good stories. Good acting. A flash back in time. Everybody smokes, no seatbelts, everybody drinks all the time, and all the women are for sex.
Having a good time.

Addendum: It is Fascinating.
I am simply amazed at how many very well known actors in my life started on Hitchcock. Every episode is like a cavalcade of stars.
I recognize many of the plots from other shows. Apparently Hollywood writers decided to reuse some of his stories with small changes.
Apparently Hitchcock was a reservoir of actors and plot ideas for the entire TV industry when it began.

Still watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents marathon on Prime. I am amazed every day by who I see on that show.
So many stars I grew up with are all on Hitchcock. Almost the entire cast of Bonanza and Family Affair is there.

I saw "Cannon" and "Columbo" and Leslie Neilsen. Mr Phelps, Beverly Hillbillies, and Chekov from Star Trek.
Dick York, Walter Matthau, Robert Vaughn, are regulars on the show and a hundred other well known stars.

Virtually every TV star and movie star on every show I watched when I was a child is represented on Hitchcock.
I have always heard about the powerful "Actors Union". Now I see how it operated and functioned in reality.
Every time I start a new episode I say, Wow! I haven't seen that actor in decades. They are all there together.

Culturally, every personal interaction centers around smoking and drinking at any time of day, this includes at work.
Everybody seems to have a housemaid. Most cars are convertibles with no seatbelts. Most probably for the cameras.
It was normal to smack your wife around if she got out of line, or to punch a guy for whatever reason made you mad.

Most of the women wear only dresses (unless you're a strong woman) and almost all the guys wear a suit, a tie, and a hat, including most bums.
Everybody speaks in a distinct kind of Americanized British accent except criminals and gangsters who speak in their own distinct gravelly accent.

Most of the plotlines end the same way. Someone sets a trap and 'forgets' something. Someone sets a trap and is caught in it themselves.
Someone sets a trap, then is betrayed by someone very close to them. Someone is forced to commit murder and is murdered themselves.

Some Hitchcock episodes are actual 'real and authentic' what today we call PSAs or 'after school specials'.
Firearm safety, dangers of gambling, dangers of drinking and driving drunk, dangers of juvenile delinquency, etc.
Hitchcock ends every episode by perfunctorily declaring that all criminals depicted in the episode were caught and punished.

To wrap it up, I LOVE IT! It is a real window into what all you drunkards, criminals, and perverts, were doing before I was born. LOL
