Might not be so easy, There was a report yesterday that the salt caverns are in bad shape and the rapid Biden drawdown hurt them even more.

I saw that report a few months back.  We probably won't be able to add anything to the SPR until the caverns issue is addressed.  President Puddinhead really screwed that pooch!

Does anyone know if the caverns are filled with sweet of heavy crude, and will mixing them make any difference? Seems to me, the light would float on top of the heavy so it would just be a matter of which pipe is used to pump to oil.
Never advisable to do that.  Pollutes the entire mix.

Crudes are complex liquids with different components. These include non-hydrocarbons such as sulfur which sours it.

They are categorized by similar types for using in specific refinery processes to generate products such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuels, lubricants, etc.

IMO it was done on purpose.  Nothing the Dems do is by accident.

@Cyber Liberty @Lando Lincoln @Polly Ticks I erred yesterday when I said my cousin in law ran the SPR. He doesn't. He is just the operations manager at their Byran Mound facility. I regret and apologize for my error.

'Salright!  Good to know there are multiple facilities...maybe President Puddinhead didn't ruin that facility as he has others by drawing it down too quickly.

That's so fuc%ing awesome!

I wish I'd written that!

I swear on everything that if Trump does this in Cuba, and someone starts talking that s#it to me, I will joyfully and happily punch them in the *&%$* face.
Yeah, that is indeed beautiful!

Dad passed a few years back. He retired as CFO for the Sugar Barons of FL, and I recall him telling us that the family had negotiated the exclusive rights to sell and distribute Toyota in a post Castro Cuba.

I don't know how I feel about that.

The wealth and power that the (now) third and even fourth gen descendants of the early Cuban diaspora wield, could easily overwhelm that post Castro struggling economy. There are families here, with legitimate claims to sometims substantial properties stolen from them, when they were expropriated/nationalized in the early days of La Revolución.

But... is it morally right for those who migrated here (and elsewhere) to now walk back into the island, laying claim to properties?

We left damned near 60 years ago. We owned properties and they were taken.

We came here and did well, while those who stayed there lived through some seriously crappy times. Should that time ever come when Trump takes out the Cuban government, do those of us who've been blessed to live and thrive outside Cuba for decades have any claims, legal or moral, to those properties?

Personally, I want nothing, and I think it would be a complete abuse to try and do so.

Pictures of old cars in Cuba often show vehicles that have been extensively modified with non-original parts. Cuban mechanics commonly install Russian Lada engines in American car bodies, create custom electrical systems, and fabricate body parts using whatever materials are available. This resourcefulness has kept thousands of classic vehicles operational well beyond their intended lifespan.

Engine Swaps and Mechanical Adaptations

One of the most common modifications involves replacing original American V8 engines with more readily available alternatives. Cuban mechanics frequently install diesel engines from Russian tractors or cars, Japanese motorcycle engines, or even marine engines to keep their vehicles running. These adaptations, while preserving the classic exterior appearance, completely transform the mechanical heart of the vehicles.

Body Work and Fabrication Techniques

Cuban body shops have mastered the art of metal fabrication using basic tools and recycled materials. They create replacement panels, bumpers, and trim pieces that may not match original specifications but maintain the vehicle’s classic appearance. This craftsmanship has kept many classic cars in Cuba looking remarkably good despite their age

All true. Can you imagine what some of those guys could do with actual vintage parts, or restoring older vehicles here (again, with the right parts)?

Phenomenal work on their part, and kudos to them!
