On Saturday morning, January 3, 2026, a series of explosions in Caracas and other cities in Venezuela signal the start of the US campaign against the socialist regime of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.

Low-flying aircraft could be heard, as well as air raid sirens.

Bright flashes could be seen in at least six locations, including Fort Tiuna army base and La Carlota Air Base, where power outages hit some neighborhoods.

Paul Serran reported earlier: At least seven explosions and low-flying aircraft were heard around 2 a.m. local time Saturday in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas.

TGP’s Jordan Conradson reported that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife have been indicted in the Southern District of New York following his capture during a US military operation in the middle of the night.

“Nicolas Maduro has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said.

Explosions were reported across Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, early this morning.

And, now it is widely expected that Nobel Peace Prize Winner Maria Corina Machado will take control of Venezuela following the removal of its communist dictatr.

The New York Post reported that Corina Machado and fellow Nobel Prize winner Edmundo González could lead a transitional government in the South American country, according to an expert on Caracas.

Maria Corina Machado had to flee the communist regime in December by speedboat to attend her Nobel Prize ceremony.

A U.S. ground invasion of Venezuela could turn out to be extraordinarily expensive in both human and economic cost, according to a report from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

In the report, which was released before Saturday's strikes and the US's capture of Nicolas Maduro, analysts pointed out that approximately 100,000-plus troops would be required as part of an invasion of the South American nation, led by Maduro since 2013.

Donald Trump has threatened to target cartel traffickers via land after a number of strikes on boats suspected of moving drug packages to be sold in the US - culminating in the huge overnight attacks on Caracas and the arrest of Maduro. Fears that military action of this nature could trigger an escalation were highlighted in the 2018 report. It comes as we revealed the sinister final sighting of Maduro before his capture - in an unlikely location.

'More than 100,000 troops would be needed'

The CFR report concluded: "Venezuela isn't Grenada or Panama, the two Latin American countries invaded by the U.S. during the closing days of the Cold War. Instead, it is twice the size of Iraq with only a slightly smaller population, and teeters on the verge of chaos. Any invasion requires preparations on a similar scale, meaning a 100,000-plus force."

The CFR report also forecast U.S. troops would be "unlikely to receive a warm welcome."  .  .  .

I'm sorry but hiding behind the color of U.S. law to facilitate regime change, no matter how clean or cool it looks, always ends badly in the long run.  Remind me again how well this kind of thing worked out for Libya and Syria?  And we always scream bloody murder when Democrats trample all over the U.S. Constitution but cheer and high-five when our guy does it...the hypocrisy seems to be lost among most here.
