An urgent storm alert has been issued in three US states, warning locals to prepare for up to 16 inches of snow starting Thursday.

Heavy snowfall and gusty winds have been forecast in parts of Alaska, Wyoming and Washington.

In Alaska, Thompson Pass is set to receive roughly nine inches of snow through the evening, potentially disrupting both morning and evening commutes, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Strong winds reaching up to 40mph are expected to peak early Thursday afternoon, reducing visibility to around half a mile or less.

Residents have been warned to be careful when venturing outdoors as icy and slippery surfaces could increase the risk of falls and injuries.

In Wyoming, the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains are expected to see four to eight inches of snow, with the highest peaks in the Tetons possibly receiving up to a foot by Thursday afternoon.

Winds could also reach 40mph, creating dangerous travel conditions and reducing visibility, particularly along the Teton and Togwotee passes.

Meanwhile, the Cascades in Washington, including Whatcom and Skagit counties and the Washington Pass, could see up to 16 inches of snow through Friday morning, especially above 4,000 feet.

I'm pretty kosher now, but before I went that way, I ate snake and gator (all the reptiles I had available) And I would have given iguana a whirl. I mean, enough cocktail sauce and I can pretty well eat anything... 

I'm just saying... when your trees are raining free meat...

Lol!!! Not something I'd be excited to eat or gathering around the table.  You are right not a whole lot of meat. Everyone else can have my portion.  I would eat blood sausage before I'd eat iguana and that's about the one food that I refuse to eat again.

Perhaps.  I ate it growing up, but later on in life, I passed on it.  There are lots of foods that I ate as a kid, that I don't eat today.  Meat wise I eat beef, chicken and pork. That's it.  I've become accustomed to city eating and what is readily available in the supermarkets. (I am selective of the quality of those meats though).  No more elk, deer, moose, ptarmigan, pheasant, rabbit, quail, frog legs, lamb, liver, mutton, capon,or blood sausage.  Fish is off the list as well these days.

100 million Americans brace for Arctic blast TOMORROW as brutal cold and snow sweep across the US

A blast of Arctic air is set to sweep across the eastern half of the US starting tomorrow, sending temperatures 15 to 25 degrees below the historical average.

Meteorologists warned Friday that over 100 million Americans will be affected, beginning in the Plains and Mississippi Valley, with those along the East Coast facing brutal cold by early next week.

AccuWeather reported that interior Southeastern states, including parts of Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama, will see daytime highs far below normal.

Atlanta, for example, is expected to reach only the mid-40s on Monday,  more than 20 degrees below typical mid-November temperatures and even 10 degrees colder than average January conditions.

Chicago is forecast to experience highs in the 30s on Sunday and Monday. Even along the Atlantic coast, where cold air often struggles to settle this time of year, New York City is expected to reach only the 40s on Tuesday.

The outbreak is being driven by a major dip in the jet stream, which is funneling unusually cold air far to the south.

Parts of the Midwest and eastern US could also see their first snow of the season this weekend into early next week.

Bands of lake-effect snow may produce measurable accumulations, creating slippery travel conditions in the Great Lakes snowbelts and northern New England.

Never again.

Two tings have been in my face that will never be there again - one is lutefisk. The other is haggis. Blood sausage would be there too, but it ain't kosher (for sure) So I ain't got to worry about that one.
