Texas governor warns any New Yorkers trying to flee south after Mamdani's win will be slapped with 100% tariff

Texas Governor Greg Abbott promised to place an 100 percent tariff on any New Yorker who tries to flee the Big Apple should socialist Zohran Mamdani win the mayor's race Tuesday.

Abbott, a key Donald Trump ally in the Lone Star State, showed no sympathy for anyone trying to escape from New York if the socialist is elected.

'After the polls close tomorrow night, I will impose a[n] 100 percent tariff on anyone moving to Texas from NYC,' he wrote.

It would be a huge barrier for the nearly one million New Yorkers preparing to flee the city should democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani win the race for mayor, as a recent poll suggested.

It's unclear if there's a legal avenue for Texas to treat people like imported goods and place an extra tax on them.

While many states currently have an 'exit tax' for leaving, they do not currently have any sort of a 'moving tax' for those arriving.

Abbott becomes the latest Republican to condemn Mamdani, who Trump has referred to as a 'communist' who would be 'the worst mayor in history.'

The race has many Republicans endorsing Cuomo, the former Democrat governor of New York state.

You may find 'nobility' in a savage. But never forget that his first instinct is to kill you.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Not legal.
Likely not.

But a clear conveyance of intent, nonetheless. No tariff necessary, just post rates for New Yorkers that are double...

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Said tongue in cheek I'm sure. Not a bad idea, though. And don't let them vote for at least 5 years. (Yeah I know that's not legal)

Also remind them how hot it is in the summer and how brutally cold it can be in the winter. Not much snow...but ice storms. I know you think you can drive on it, but you really can't.

Also remind them that there are really, really big venomous snakes. Even the "safe" ones are scary. And bugs!! Lots and lots of bugs. It's a constant battle to keep them out of the house. AAAND...in the yard...chiggers. You really haven't lived until you get a good case of chiggers.

I could go on, but won't. Just think before you come here. Signed, The Redneck.

You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Lots of NY transplants around here -- DeSantis needs to make a similar proposal. We really don't need anymore.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Amen.  Lots of them here in the Redneck Rivera.  But we outnumber them 100 to 1.  So when they squawk we tell them to STFU.

Yes, it is legal.  Absolutely.  One's right privilege to vote comes from the States.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-
