Some take into consideration "if they can easily replace it".... in my case ... NO... the argument of "it's just stuff" does not take into consideration to some folks, stuff is not easily replaced. I don't have full coverage, it will not cover someone stealing... and in my case... having it stolen would hurt deeply. It would affect my family significantly, and "It is just stuff" is not in the conversation.
Nothing wrong if you are in a position to where "it is just replaceable stuff" applies... but to make that call for everyone else is shortsighted. I cringe every time I hear it.
I agree. In country where temperatures hit the lethal level for much of the winter, stealing my means of getting to work, feeding my family, getting to a doctor, or simply getting someplace warm (survival) is a threat to my life, not 'just taking stuff'.
There was a time here when you could leave your vehicle idling outside a cafe with the keys in it, unlocked, and go in for dinner and not worry about it because someone stealing it was unthinkable.
After years of 'Grand Theft Auto' glorifying stealing cars, the moral slide that is ubiquitous, and a change in the demographics with the last oil boom, You'd be foolish to leave keys in a vehicle.
