Indian-run company accused of fraud could be the pin that POPS the AI bubble…

The AI gold rush has officially entered its messy phase.

For the past couple of years, Silicon Valley has been showered with headlines about all these trillion-dollar potentials, miracle software, and “game-changing” systems that were supposed to transform everything overnight. Investors piled in like gangbusters, and the media cheered it all on. And anyone who raised an eyebrow was told they just didn’t “get it.”

But this is always how bubbles work, right? First comes all the hype. Then comes all the money. And eventually, the insiders start talking… and that’s where this latest scam story begins...

Next up will be the collapse of so many crazy expensive AI data centers that suck up water and electricity.

Doubtful.  Physical assets don’t usually disappear.  Someone buys them at a huge discount and starts making money with them.

There's about four million square feet of empty office space in New York City and not many people are interested in it at all.

Because government rules prevent it from being used for what it could be used for.

Are you really that stupid?

There is no reason to attack another poster for an opinion. I don't recall that in your posts until recently. You o.k.?

Police Warn of Robot Crime Wave
Autonomous vehicles, drones, and humanoid robots are coming for us all.

The use of autonomous drones on the battlefield has already raised plenty of murky ethical questions. Many experts and human rights groups have decried the use of killer robots, particularly when you consider the possibilities of technological flaws resulting in the deaths of innocent people — not to mention using the tech to commit atrocities with no direct human involvement.

But what would happen if such a technology were to land in the hands of terrorists and criminals, who aren’t beholden to the norms of modern warfare at all? In a new report, pan-European police agency Europol’s Innovation Lab has imagined a not-so-distant future in which criminals could hijack autonomous vehicles, drones, and humanoid robots to sow chaos — and how law enforcement will have to step up as a result...

This seems to be the closest thing the board has to an AI-related thread, so I thought I would post this here instead of making a new thread about it.

Vedal is a streamer on Twitch.com, who is also a programmer. He has created his own LLM-based AI, designed to play games and interact with Twitch chat. He named it Neuro Sama. To give "her" a relatable form, he programmed the AI to be able to control a vtuber ("virtual YouTuber") model. Normally in her livestreams, she uses a 2-D model, but recently he worked out programming to allow the AI to drive a 3-D model. Since then she has debuted with her own custom 3-D environments, as well as interacting with open 3-D environments in the shared online space VRChat. In VRChat Neuro can interact with real people who are also using 3-D avatars. Several people who have interacted with Neuro in the 3-D environment, including Vedal himself, have commented on how the 3-D makes Neuro seem much more "real".

Here's a clip from a recent stream done in VRChat, with Neuro interacting with her creator Vedal (his avatar is normally a small, green, cartoon turtle, but in VRChat it looks more like Kermit the Frog.) It really is disturbing how human-like some of her interactions are.
