Charlie Kirk was a dishonest loudmouth, a punk and a Trumpist, partisan shill who represented the worst of what politics (especially right-wing politics) has become the past decade. If I'm any indication, I can't imagine how many people got turned off from the modern right because of people like him.

Nothing he did, however, rises to the level of deserving to be murdered. And now whoever did this just made him a martyr.

EXCLUSIVE: This morning my team received an e-mail from officer at ATF.

The email included a screen shot from what appears to be an internal message describing a weapon and cartridges located by ATF and other law enforcement near the scene of the Charlie Kirk shooting  at Utah Valley State University.

“On September 10, 2025, at approximately 12:24PM, Conservative political influencer Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at the Utah Valley University in Orem, UT. Mr. Kirk was speaking at the University as part of the American Comeback Tour. Multiple SLC I and III agents responded immediately. The suspect fired one shot from an elevated position on a rooftop in an adjacent building on the campus and surveillance video shows the suspect, jumping off and fleeing the area on foot. ATF and other law-enforcement located an older model imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the campus. The location of the firearm appears to match the suspects route of travel. The spent cartridge was still chambered in addition to three unspent rounds at the top fed magazine. All cartridges have engraved wording on them, expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology. An emergency trace has been submitted an ATF SLC is working leads generated by the trace. The firearm and ammunition have been taken by the FBI for DNA analysis and fingerprint impressions. Upon completion of forensics, the firearm will be disassembled for additional importer information. Multiple people of interest having contacted or detained because of eyewitness testimony and review of video footage. The primary suspect is yet to be identified. ATF is assisting the investigation with multiple other federal, state, and local partners and the case is co-led by the FBI and Utah SBI.””

If not, given the evidence they appear to now have in hand, they will know within hours.

A 1,000-word social media post by Vice President J.D. Vance has broken the hearts of Charlie Kirk’s fans everywhere after the MAGA leader recalled the time they traded family stories, good-natured ribbing, and their hopes for the Republican Party.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, Vance shared the memory of first hearing from Kirk after appearing as a contributor on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News program.

It was “that moment of kindness” that “began a friendship that lasted until today,” he wrote.

Kirk was horrifically gunned down on Wednesday while speaking at a Utah college campus, one stop in his nationwide tour to open a channel of dialogue between America’s youthful right and left. His killer is still at large after the FBI and local police briefly detained two suspects.

“Charlie was fascinated by ideas and always willing to learn and change his mind. Like me, he was skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016. Like me, he came to see President Trump as the only figure capable of moving American politics away from the globalism that had dominated for our entire lives,” Vance continued.

“When others were right, he learned from them. When he was right–as he usually was–he was generous. With Charlie, the attitude was never, ‘I told you so.’ But: ‘welcome.'”

When Vance first considered an improbable run for U.S. Senate, Kirk was among the first to receive his call, he revealed.

Trump to award Charlie Kirk with posthumous Medal of Freedom: 'Champion of liberty

President Donald Trump will posthumously award conservative activist Charlie Kirk with a Medal of Freedom, he announced Thursday.

Trump hailed Kirk as a "giant of his generation" and a "champion of liberty" during a 9/11 memorial on Thursday.

"I'm pleased to announce that I will soon be awarding Charlie Kirk, posthumously, the Presidential Medal of Freedom," Trump said.

Trump did not announce the date of the ceremony but predicted that there would be a "very big crowd."

Kirk was assassinated while speaking to college students at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The shooter still has not been apprehended.

Oh yeah, a Mauser can do that kind of shot easily. And they can easily be converted from 8mm to 30-06 for hunting and other purposes.

But this guy's on the Left, and they don't like guns, so as someone practiced and familiar not only with guns, but staging and executing an assassination from a rooftop, he is a rare bird.

It implies a great deal more sophistication as well as coordination. And as @Lando Lincoln says, don't rule out that the gun is a plant. This may not be some old ratty ensemble of soy boy leftists.

And it could well mean to be an evolution and escalation of their tactics, not just the old black block breaking storefront glass windows. Everyone needs to be acutely aware of what they are cooking behind the scenes, because this might be part of a larger organized push.

Charlie Kirk’s assassin appears to have picked a rooftop from which they could make a quick escape and be “miles and miles away” in mere minutes, according to a retired FBI expert.

The sniper — who remains at large early Thursday — fired the single, fatal shot from the top of the Losee Center Building at Utah Valley University, some 200 yards from where Kirk was seated in a pop-up tent, speaking in front of 3,000 people, authorities have said.

“If you come off that roof — and I’ve seen the drone footage of this — there’s an open-air parking lot behind that building,” retired FBI supervising agent James Gagliano told “Fox & Friends.”
