Sheriff says family of suspected Charlie Kirk assassin should 'lay low' for long time

 The family of suspected Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson need to stay out of the public eye for a while, authorities said, Wednesday.

"They need to lay low for a long time, unfortunately," Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby told reporters during a news conference after being asked about the family of Tyler Robinson.

"So even, I'll throw this out there. I have a second cousin with the last name Robinson, who happens to be an optometrist in town, and, he's his office has been receiving threatening phone calls," Brooksby added.

"Just give his last name. So. So to put somebody in that kind of, burden, it's burdensome situation when they had nothing to do with it. No relation to the family. Just just think about how the actual individuals involved in this incident are feeling right now."

Christian author Frank Turek, who was with Charlie Kirk when he was assassinated last week, detailed the conservative activist's last moments.

Turek said Wednesday on his podcast that he was apart of a group of people who rushed in a car to get Kirk to a hospital after he was shot at Utah Valley University .

"Charlie's so tall, we can't close the doors. We drove four miles... all the way to the hospital with the door open," he said.

At one point, Turek said he tried performing CPR on Kirk.

"Charlie wasn't there. He eyes were fixed," he said. "He wasn't looking at me. He was looking past me right into eternity. He was with Jesus already. He was killed instantly.

Turek also relayed a message he said was from Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk.

"Now, here's what Erika wants me to relate...,: he said. "He was looking past me right into eternity. He was with Jesus already. He was killed instantly and felt absolutely no pain."

"If that's any comfort at all, Charlie didn't suffer," he added.

It's tough to watch Frank Turek vulnerable and choking up like that. I've attended at least two or three of his speaking events, have read one of his books, and have watched him on TV. I've conversed with him face to face.

He's a tough ex-military guy who stands up to hostile college crowds across the country on a regular basis, discussing his book, "I don't have enough faith to be an atheist" with kids who think they can best him intellectually or debating atheists.

 Disney’s ABC said it would take Jimmy Kimmel‘s popular late-night show off its schedule “indefinitely” after one of the biggest owners of TV stations in the U.S., Nexstar Media, said it would pre-empt airings of the program following remarks the host made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Nexstar said Wednesday that its “owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for the foreseeable future, beginning with tonight’s show.” The company said it  “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”

In his monologue Monday night , Kimmel said that the “MAGA gang” was trying to score political points off Kirk’s murder. Kirk, a prominent conservative activist, was shot and killed Sept. 10 at a debate at Utah Valley University. Three days later, authorities announced they had arrested the suspected shooter.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said.

Regarding the text message, which some people say must be fake because the language, punctuation, etc., appear so unusual for two guys in their early 20s, this practicing attorney has an opinion:

To everyone who thinks the text messages in TR’s charging document are a forgery, the prosecution is required to disclose every element of those text messages to the defense.  This includes all data, and must allow access to the devices themselves to extract data including metadata.  This data will disclose when and likely where the messages were sent and received.  If the charging document is forged, the police and the prosecutors are in big trouble.  Can metadata be tampered with?  Yes.  It can even be deleted entirely.  However you can’t mess with metadata without leaving evidence that it’s been messed with, and any data analyst the defense hires would know exactly what to look for.  Any evidence of tampered metadata would destroy the prosecution completely. 

Bottom line,  the text messages in the charging document are very likely real and accurate.

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel could be probed by federal investigators after telling his audience that Charlie Kirk's suspected killer was a MAGA supporter.

Federal Communications Commission boss Brendan Carr told conservative podcaster Benny Johnson on Wednesday he was considering an investigation into Kimmel and his network ABC over remarks the host made about suspected shooter Tyler Robinson, 22, in the wake of Kirk's murder.

Prosecutors say the suspect - who was charged with killing Kirk at a university event in Orem, Utah - had leftist leanings.

'When you look at the conduct that has taken place by Jimmy Kimmel, it appears to be some of the sickest conduct possible,' Carr told Johnson.
