Three people have been reported dead during a possible active shooter incident at the U.S. Army installation at Fort Stewart in Georgia, according to early reports. The base is under lockdown, with all gate entrances closed.

The incident is reportedly occurring at the 2nd Armored Brigade area near the airfield on Old Sunbury Road. All on-base schools have been placed on lockdown, and ambulances are responding to the scene.

Witnesses on X have described multiple casualties and a heavy presence of military police and emergency responders. Officials have not yet confirmed the number of shooters involved or the circumstances leading to the fatalities.

The suspect is IN CUSTODY per police, but the base remains on lockdown.

Nearby school lockdowns have been lifted and children are being dismissed at normal times.

NEW: 5 soldiers have been shot at Fort Stewart in Georgia.

Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield has released the following statement on Facebook:

"Five Soldiers were shot today in an active shooter incident in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.

All Soldiers were treated on-site and moved to Winn Army Community Hospital for further treatment. There is no active threat to the community.

Law enforcement was dispatched for a possible shooting in the 2nd ABCT complex at 1056 a.m. The shooter was apprehended at 1135 a.m.

The installation was locked down at 1104 a.m. and Fort Stewart lifted the lockdown of the main cantonment area at 1210 p.m. 2nd ABCT complex is still locked down.

Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to treat the wounded Soldiers at 1109 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation and no additional information will be released until the investigation is complete."

At least five U.S. soldiers are hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an attacker opened fire on a military base outside of Savannah, Georgia.

Police have apprehended a lone suspect, who is described by law enforcement as a male U.S. Army sergeant. His name has not yet been released, according to Fox News.

On social media, conservative influencer Charlie Kirk reported the individual as Army Sgt. Quornelius Radford.

“He did NOT use a military weapon. All five soldiers who were shot are in stable condition; three underwent surgery. Praise God,” Kirk wrote.

Soldiers were congregating in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) area of Fort Stewart when gunfire began at approximately 10:56 a.m. ET. The base went into lockdown eight minutes later, according to a social media post by the base. The suspect was arrested at 11:35 a.m., the outlet reported.

The gunman who opened fire on Fort Stewart Army Base in southeast Georgia has been identified as Quornelius Radford, law enforcement sources say.

Few details were immediately available about what led to the gunfire, but officials say the Army sergeant went on a shooting rampage in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team (2ABCT) area of the base.

The attack left five soldiers injured and prompted a brief lockdown at Fort Stewart, which is one the country's largest Army bases, officials said. Soldiers were seen seeking shelter as the active shooter warning was issued.

President Donald Trump has been briefed on the incident and the White House is 'monitoring the situation'.

First off, this guy does not look like he could pass the test to move from 1st to 2nd grade.

I searched but did not find reference to his religion. I would bet he is a mussie. But you will never hear the truth about this character, I am thinking.

Mass shootings, whether anyone dies, should have but one penalty, a death sentence. And carried out at sunrise the day after convicted. None of this 25 years sitting on death row. Mass shooters should not be eligible for any appeals.

We just do not need these people in our society.

For the life of me I can't figure out why military bases are "gun free zones".

Unless they are brought in for nefarious purposes. Of all places, the people there are trained and familiar with fire arms.

You would think that but ... the average recruit cannot be trusted with a weapon even with training.

At a top secret building. Each door is guarded by a Marine. *BANG* A shot is heard. The OOD goes to investigate. At one of the doors the Marine was smoking a cig, has the door partially open with one leg outside. The officer asked if he heard or saw anything unusual. Marine say No, all is well.

Found out the guy was playing 'quick draw' and had shot himself in the leg. He was trying to hide it with his leg outside.

If you gave loaded guns to a base full of regular dime-a-dozen enlisted, it is almost guaranteed that they will shoot themselves or somebody accidentally.

They made a change to that back during the first Trump administration IIRC...but then put the caveat in that allowing soldiers to carry on post/base would be left up to the discretion of the Commanding General.

Generals value their stars over anything else so there hasn't been one yet that has allowed soldiers to carry.

The DoD really loosened the standards...too far if you ask me...for the shaving profile and "religious exemptions" for beards during the Biden abomin...errr...administration. It looks like crap. So does allowing female soldiers wearing ponytails in their duty uniforms.

All you have to do is watch the female PAO for Ft. Stewart yesterday to see why that was a bad idea.

Thankfully I believe Hegseth is reigning in some of that silliness.

In my day there were always armed people (not everyone) on duty 24/7 in every unit I ever encountered. I guess that has changed since I got out 55 years ago.
