From cutting red tape, to expediting the rebuild process, to working hand-in-hand with the incredible U.S. Army Corps of Engineers team on debris removal, Los Angeles is on track for one of the fastest disaster recoveries in state history.

Fastest in history?
You’ve issued like five permits in eight months and almost nothing has been done.
Ron DeSantis rebuilt a bridge in three days after Hurricane Ian.

FACT CHECK: Just as a point of reference...
The Palisades Fire destroyed 6,837 structures, with 1,017 more damaged.
The Eaton Fire destroyed at least 9,418 structures, with an additional 1,071 damaged.
As of late August 2025, the number of permits issued for rebuilding homes destroyed in the Palisades Fire varies by jurisdiction:
- Under your leadership, the City of Los Angeles has issued 54 permits for 40 addresses related to rebuilding efforts.
- Los Angeles County has issued 157 building permits for rebuilds in areas affected by both the Palisades and Eaton fires.
- The City of Malibu has issued its first rebuild permit for a home destroyed in the fire.
This may not normally qualify for a victory lap, but you qualified your comment by adding, "Los Angeles is on track for one of the fastest disaster recoveries in state history." Given California's record for favoring political rhetoric over action, you may be correct. In today's political environment, you might get away with a "Mostly Correct (but blatantly misleading" FACT CHECK assessment.
