Will Microsoft be issuing rebates for the licenses they sold but are now intentionally sabotaging?  I seem to recall no time statute of limitations on their original EULAs.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

BTW, y'all... It ain't hard to make Windows 11 ignore the prerequisites wrt processor, TPM2, etc., and install anyway. Even an upgrade installation. The street has already gone around the false flags. Windows 11 will run pretty much on any 'i' series Intel and 8g of ram - Though 16g is way mobedda.

I have installed it 'bandit' on all of my old hardware, and it went in on every one of them, and flawlessly... Now, I didn't KEEP them in Win 11, but went through months of updates and satisfied myself that it was all working properly.

The thing he did not quite touch on is the virtual monopoly the Chinese have on rare earths used to make chips. Arbitrarily forcing hardware obsolescence will only increase demand for new hardware, and with that, rare earths. Cui bono? China.

I guess one could just go something like Lexus if the machine is still a good machine and you don't want to abandon a good working computer.

It ain't hardly worth the trouble. As a general rule Win 11 will run on 8th gen intel...

I just bought an HP Elitebook 850 i5 8th gen with 24g ram for 130 bucks on EBAY, Another 30 bucks for an NVMe 512g drive... installed Win11 in about 20 minutes.. SO happy. It's a joy to play on. It's my favorite machine now... for 160 bucks. In spite of Win11.

for those of you with just a machine or two, there is plenty of used machinery out there that is 8th gen intel or better... and it's cheap. Just make the jump. It's coming anyway.

I'm a different fish. There's 8 (I think) active boxen in this house... Currently only one is Win11 (legally). I have a ways to go, and it won't entirely be fixed by attrition.

I'm referring to pre-2010 32-bit architecture.  wink777

Actually some windows phones and tablets were 32bit till recently.  I don't recall but I think my surface installed 32bit. It's been a while, so I could be wrong. Had a little Yoga 11e that I think was 32bit too... Not unlikely on little things.

I just successfully updated the wife's windows 10 laptop to windows 11.

Microsoft said the computer didn't meet Windows 11 system requirements but using an app called Flyby11, downloaded from GitHub I got it done in less than an hour from start to finish.

Super clear instructions in video below.

Saw that video by Flyby11 a couple of days ago. Looks easy enough and you can keep your DATA.  I was gonna build an I7 in the coming months (<$1K) to replace my Xeon (12 cores) but I think I'll save the $$$ and buy a GF instead.

Worked perfectly in my case. I thought I might have to replace a perfectly functioning high end HP computer but not now.

There are ways around the TPM 2.0 requirement.

The computer I am typing this on in running Windows 11 without TPM.

Bookmarked for dealing with future issues. All my machines are running Win 10 or earlier (a bunch of XPs survive) and I even have a Win 95 machine somewhere.

I just watched it too... seems no different than the RUFUS method - I'm sure you are aware of the Rufus USB formatting tool for making boot disks of any sort, if you don't already have it in your kit.

Same sort of thing... DL the ISO from MS

Download the latest Rufus, run it, and point it at the installation ISO...

If it is a Windows 11 media, Rufus offers some tasty options, to include the ones needed to overlook installation barriers, and a few others, like an alteration to let you create local accounts instead of having to give an MS email account to log into (that's a big one for me).

Now, all that seems pointed toward a fresh installation, but simply navigate to the created USB, and run setup from there, and it will do an upgrade installation, letting you keep your files, and without booting to the USB stick.

I may have said before that I favor the Rufus method.  happy77

Bookmarked for dealing with future issues. All my machines are running Win 10 or earlier (a bunch of XPs survive) and I even have a Win 95 machine somewhere.

Same boat. Only one of my machines is legit running Win11 natively.
Another two are running Win11 by bypassed restrictions - All the rest are staying Win10 for now, and for the foreseeable future. I care about my main whip and my two laptops - All the rest will be converted by attrition.

I simply will not buy into any hardware lower than intel i series gen 8. That's the dividing line. i3/5/7 gen 8 will take win11 natively.

And that ain't hard money. This box I am on is i5, and I bought it for $130 without a HDD (lease end bulk sale of some sort). It is absolutely pristine. Bought an m2 HDD stick, stuck it in there, and fired it up. No problems. All told, maybe $175, and it's my favorite box ever.

I will keep doing that as I go, waiting for the right boxen to come down the river and catching the deals as they come...
