Here’s a breakdown of the BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars America’s Ivy League schools rake in
March 27, 2025 | Nicole Haas

Ivy League schools have been raking in cash from all sides, while many of their students believing they’re getting a superior degree go into debt.

Despite receiving billions in endowments, eight of America’s Ivy League schools have received approximately $6.4 billion more in federal funding, Fox News reported.

The top recipients were Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania and Yale which raked in $1.3 billion, $1.8 billion and $898.7 million of taxpayer cash in 2024 respectively.

Other recipients for 2024 are listed below:

    Cornell University: $825.5 million
    Harvard University: $686.5 million
    Princeton University: $455 million
Brown University: $254 million, according to USA Spending
    Dartmouth: $141.9 million

Federal funding for schools has been criticized by the Trump administration that’s threatened to halt payments if they don’t eliminate DEI agendas.

The administration has already paused $175 million of federal funds to the University of Pennsylvania for allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports. Columbia has also been warned a windfall of $400 could be cut off for antisemitism riots on campus, Fox noted.

Each year, the Department of Education provides around $100 billion in student loans and more than $30 billion in Pell Grants. Despite Trump’s directive to eliminate the Department of Education, he has expressed his intention to keep Pell Grants intact and transfer student loan management to the Small Business Administration.

I would make one adjustment to the article, which is generally decent.  Princeton is the only top-tier school (that I am aware of) that puts its money where its mouth is and does not require students to go into debt.  Princeton uses the FAFSA system to determine a family's expected contribution to the tuition and costs - which includes housing costs - and the part of the cost that exceeds the family's contribution is drawn from Princeton's endowment, and if a student's family earns less than $100,000, then the student does not pay anything for room and board.

So, while 99.9% of the higher education industry can be faulted for drowning students in student loan debt, there is at least one school that does not.  Princeton puts its money where its mouth is in a way that no other university does.

Big College Education is a racket where the Godfathers have Ph.D's.

How much does it cost to educate (produce) a doctor in the US versus other countries?
How much does it cost to educate (produce) engineers in the US versus other countries?
How much does it cost to educate (produce) scientists in the US versus other countries?
How do the barriers of entry to American higher education for American students compare with other nations and nationalities?

Do rich foreign college applicants have a competitive advantage for admissions over American working-class and middle-class applicants because rich foreign students can pay full price tuition and room & board?

Why is the American Government and instiutions of higher education selling out working-class and middle-class applicants and students in favor of rich foreign students?

The college application and admissions process is a barrier to upward mobility of American working-class and middle-class applicants.
