If this really was a national security issue, shouldn't the editor of "The Atlantic" be held for treason for disclosing the text on "X"?
I think the question is whether what was being discussed really was so super dooper secret or not. Were they actual plans, or just spitballing?

That's the problem...they all say it wasn't top secret but when asked crucial questions their response was *I don't recall*..

Let me summarize for those new to the performance:
(1) The CIA special ops group, organized the Signal App operation.  That's how Goldberg got in.
(2) Jeffrey Goldberg held the story until the day before the scheduled SSCI hearing.
(3) The SSCI uses the hearing to attack the Trump officials at the top of the critical silos.
Why?
The CIA black ops group doesn't like the Trump Ukraine and Trump Russia policy.
Watch. You'll see.

A point of clarity: so, we don't have months and months of this again, before people catch up.
Jeffrey Goldberg has no factual information that Mike Waltz invited him to the group Signal chat.
**Goldberg only knows a device, presumably attributed to Mike Waltz, added his user account to a Signal chat.**
From that data point, Goldberg espouses Waltz added him.

That's fascinating....   From that narrative, it sounded like the MSM might have been privy to the entire Biden intelligence network, the whole 4 years.   That is really the question that needs to be asked.

This looks like a set up....but as they were talking didn't anyone ask who JG was on the chat?....these are all from Intelligence Agencies  for crying out loud...I guess I expect more from these people...surely most had to say to themselves *who is JG*...and the chat should have stopped then... **nononono*

The current national security/war cabinet needs to reaquaint itself with the SCIF and use it.  After four years of Biden, Chinese balloons and lawfare, they should know better than to use electronics for anything until there's been a complete, indepth review of systems and those with access to them.

No different than Hillary's illegal mail server.

Both are instances of top Government officials using unauthorized, unofficial technology platforms of convenience to transmit and receive sensitive Official Government communications.

all this looks to me like a red herring. Set up a fake, blatantly insecure chat room to "leak" information of dubious accuracy and see who runs with it.

And we have our answer.

Trump reveals who was behind Signal text chain leak
The president said the inclusion of a journalist in the group chat had 'no impact at all' on the strike in Yemen
By Emma Colton Fox News
Published March 25, 2025 12:02pm EDT

President Donald Trump revealed that a staffer with national security advisor Mike Waltz's office included the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic in a Signal group chat with senior Trump officials who were discussing plans for an upcoming strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen.

"It was one of Michael’s people on the phone. A staffer had his number on there," Trump told NBC in a phone interview when asked how Jeffrey Goldberg, the Atlantic's editor-in-chief, was added to the high-profile chat.

The president added that Goldberg's inclusion in the group chat had "no impact at all" on the strike in Yemen.

Goldberg published an article on Monday detailing how he was added to a Signal group chat on March 11, reportedly dubbed "Houthi PC Small Group," which included high-profile government officials, including Waltz, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance and others.

Signal is an encrypted messaging app that operates similarly to texting or making phone calls, but with additional security measures that help ensure communications are kept private to those included in the correspondence.

Those in the group reportedly discussed targeting the Iran-backed terrorist group, the Houthis, in Yemen, including timing.

Karoline Leavitt Exposes Journalist Who Infiltrated DoD Group Chat, Crushes ‘Sensationalist’ Story

Trending Politics News
By Mark Steffen
March 25, 2025

The Atlantic reporter who infiltrated a secretive group chat between members of the Trump administration’s national security team relied on “sensationalist” claims to push his bombshell story, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt asserted on Tuesday.

In a fiery missive on X, President Donald Trump’s top spokeswoman said Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg is “well-known” for adding “sensationalist spin” to his stories. The outlet often serves as a punching bag for conservative influencers and reporters who regularly ridicule its headlines and even suggest some of their own in viral social media posts that make it hard to discern fact from fiction.

On Monday, Goldberg reported that he was inadvertently invited to a group Signal chat by White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz where U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President J.D. Vance, and others were said to be discussing imminent plans to bomb Houthi rebels in Yemen. Goldberg wrote that Hegseth shared “war plans” outlining the attack approximately several hours before it occurred.

“What I will say, in order to illustrate the shocking recklessness of this Signal conversation, is that the Hegseth post contained operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing,” Goldberg said, referring to Hegseth.

Not so, replied Leavitt.

Now that the left is making a big deal about it, it appears that some of the media may have been entirely privy to national security, and maybe other things that might relate to lawfare.

Let's get the entire 4 year transcript of the system, give it to the intelligence committee behind closed doors, and let the chips fly where they may.

I couldn't agree more and he needs to find someone else immediately to replace her.  I'm not all the sure about Patel either, but if Trump doesn't get a good AG in place, we're in trouble.  His entire administration is dependent on draining the swamp and holding people accountable.  If not, nothing is going to change and conservatives have exhausted their last chance to right this ship.

I say put Cruz in her place.  Put Paxton in her place.  The change needs to happen.

IMO things are slowly starting to unravel and not in a good way.

One thing for sure; Leavitt is good at her job.

Karoline Leavitt denies 'war plans' were discussed on text thread that included editor of the Atlantic

The Trump administration is under fire for the accidental security leak.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to claims made by Jeffrey Goldberg, the liberal editor who was accidentally included on a group text between Trump administration officials.

Leavitt contested one of the more damaging claims by Goldberg, the editor in chief of the Atlantic, from the thread that included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance.

Goldberg said that he had been accidentally included on the thread and claimed he had obtained "war plans" about a military operation against the Houthis in Yemen before it occurred. He did not publish the alleged plans, leading many to accuse him of exaggerating what he received.

Leavitt specifically denied the claims in a statement made Tuesday on social media.

"Jeffrey Goldberg is well-known for his sensationalist spin. Here are the facts about his latest story," said Leavitt.

She said no war plans were discussed, and no classified material was sent to the thread. She addressed the criticism that it was improper and possibly illegal to conduct official government business on the Signal app, due to records retention laws.

"The White House Counsel’s Office has provided guidance on a number of different platforms for President Trump’s top officials to communicate as safely and efficiently as possible," she wrote. .................

The thing is, Goldberg is editor of The Atlantic, a leftist rag. He's a leftist, and therefore pretty much can be presumed a liar. It's not like Dems are known for honesty. I think we're going to hear a lot of misinformation from both sides, but especially the left.

Mark Warner (D-VA) harped on President Donald Trump’s national security officials after a journalist was inadvertently added to an encrypted group chat that discussed military strikes before they occurred — despite his own recent history of secret messages with a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch closely allied with Vladimir Putin getting leaked.

I posted above that someone other than Waltz - someone connected with the CIA - may have added Goldberg to the discussion. I'd love to know whether that's the case. The CIA is as corrupted as the FBI.

Agree above.

Hate to distract Musk/Big Ballz, but apparently some serious overhaul of electronic security is needed.

If they really, truly were discussing actual war plans, perhaps they should have done it face-to-face in a secure facility. Just sayin.

Trump Reveals NSC Staffer Added the Atlantic Editor to Group Chat on Houthi Strikes

President Donald Trump revealed Tuesday that a National Security Council staffer and aide to National Security Adviser Mike Waltz added the Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal group chat on military strikes against the Houthis.

First off, the staffer should get pinked slipped and banned from further service with the federal government.  Whose son or nephew in Congress is he?

If we cannot have TikTok on phones for security reasons, why does anyone have this maggot reporter in their directory?  His name and every other liberal maggot should be banned from all phones used for/by folks requiring any level of security within this administration.

IMHO, this was inexcusable.   And it sheds light on the failure of folks in this government, who should know better.  Did this staffer have Vladimir Putin in the same directory?  Or Xi?  This is idiocy.

There is no excuse.  I am tired of folks around Trump conveniently leaking like a broken pipe under full pressure.

I like Walz, but he has to get tougher about sh*t like this.  There is no excuse.

Walz just said, 'that is one thing DOGE is doing, improving our IT, improving our communications'.  What the hell are the folks doing whose responsibility it is to control all that?  Time for heads to roll.  More than just the staffer..

Too much damn incompetence in Washington.

Hakeem Jeffries Calls for Pete Hegseth to Be Fired over Discussing ‘War Plans’ in Signal Chat

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is calling for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to be fired after The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg revealed that he had accidentally been added to a Signal group chat with Trump administration officials in which military strikes against the Houthis were discussed days before the strikes occurred.

They're on a roll tonight

Blumenthal: Trump Administration Group Chat Potential Espionage Act Violation

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said on Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that the Signal group chat on military strikes against the Houthis between Trump administration officials might be a violation of the “Espionage Act as well as the Federal Records and Presidential Records Act.”

Might not be so straight-forward ...

"Waltz confirmed he was to blame for adding Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief for The Atlantic, to the chat by mistake, and it was not a staffer.

He explained that he had been trying to add someone else's number to the discussion and Goldberg's somehow appeared under another name. He did not name whom he meant to add."

Plot twist.  There was NO staffer.  That was just a convenient excuse, long used within the DC bubble when something goes sideways.  It was Waltz who did it.

But then the question remains, why was Goldberg in Waltz's contacts list to begin with?

By Andrew Stanton
Newsweek (Mar. 26, 2025)
https://www.newsweek.com/signal-app-vulnerability-trump-war-plan-text-2050469

... NPR on Tuesday published the email sent out that warned of a "vulnerability" in the Signal app.

"A vulnerability has been identified in the Signal messenger application," the email reads. "The use of Signal by common targets of surveillance and espionage activity has made the application a high value target to intercept sensitive information."

It continues: "Russian professional hacking groups are employing the 'linked devices' features to spy on encrypted conversations. The feature allows the chat and voice messenger application to be utilized on multiple devices concurrently."

The email warns that these hacking groups embed "malicious QR codes in phishing pages" or conceal them in group invite links. After gaining access via the codes, the groups add their own devices as a linked device and can then view every message sent by the user in real time and bypass the "end-to-end encryption."

It then offered steps to safeguard their Signal application and noted that the use of apps like Signal are permitted for "unclassified accountability/recall exercises" but not to store nonpublic unclassified information.

The Hacker News reported on the vulnerability in February

It's not the first time a vulnerability has been reported in the Signal app.

Gizmodo reported in July 2024 that Signal's desktop app created an SQLite database that is stored as a plain text file on the machine when installed. This means anyone with access to the machine would have access to the file.

Goldberg wrote that he first received a Signal connection request from National Security Advisor Mike Waltz on March 11 and that the conversations about the strike against the Houthis—who have been launching attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea for over a year—unfolded over several days and allegedly included sensitive details about the strike....
