Liberal fury over billionaire developer's plan to turn pristine New Jersey woods into affordable housing

New Jersey residents are furious that a billionaire developer wants to bulldoze a 120-acre wooded area to build affordable housing in the predominately liberal town.
The Wilf family - which includes Minnesota Vikings co-owner Zygi Wilf - have been given the greenlight to build a large affordable housing development in a forest on top of a mountain in West Orange, New Jersey, near Newark.
The wealthy clan owns the wooded area, where they are proposing to build 500 apartments - 100 of them dedicated to affordable housing - which would significantly help West Orange's state-mandated obligation to build low-income housing, according to Gothamist.
However, the extremely liberal area - where Democrats outweigh Republics five-to-one - isn't welcoming the idea of knocking trees in favor of concrete, as locals worry about the risk of flooding.
