I never really follow it much, but I do know that all my Louisville fans are apoplectic.

My wife last year decided to play and achieved a 99.72 percentile, picking correctly 3 of the Final Four teams.

ESPN sent her a personal invitation this week to ensure she fills our her bracket.

I remain cooking her breakfast as a result, so look forward to a new year where she cooks for awhile.

W.Va.'s governor says he's suing the NCAA for leaving WVU out (UNC got the spot everyone's saying WVU should have had). Love ya, Gov. Morrissey, but that's just silly.

Just on the basis of win/lose, North Carolina won 3 games more than WVU did.  NC was in 6th place in their league, and WVU was in 9th place in their league.  Governor has nothing to base his complaint that I can see on basic numbers.

NC had much weaker competition and is in a weaker conference than WVU. Most commentators on ESPN say Indiana or WVU got screwed by the inclusion of UNC. Thankfully, I don't have enough interest in the tournament to let it bother me. I'll watch a few games when it gets interesting.

Yep, same. I watch parts of the Kentucky games here or there when the boys come over to watch it with their father. Once the yelling and cursing starts, though, I'm out!

Well, my hometown team St. Bonaventure made the NIT. That's one of the benefits of that silly College Basketball Crown tournament Fox is putting together and drawing away the money conference teams that didn't make the Big Dance. Give me the small schools and the Cinderellas all day.

Final Four...

Auburn (big guy to me is hurt lately, but lot of depth/talent on team), Duke or Bama (lean Duke), Florida is hot, and probable Houston... So going to stick with the rankings basically... Not the biggest B-ball fanatic, but seems the ranking are pretty spot on...

Florida to take it all...

Round one is in the books. Here were the upsets:

  • South #10 New Mexico over #7 Marquette
  • West #12 Colorado State over #5 Memphis
  • West #11 Drake over #6 Missouri
  • West #10 Arkansas over #7 Kansas
  • Midwest #12 McNeese over #5 Clemson

There were also two 9-over-8 wins (but 8 and 9 are so close that I hardly call that an upset): Creighton over Louisville in the South, and Baylor over Mississippi State. All other favorites won.

Colorado State was just robbed when the Maryland player made a game winning layup at the buzzer - after walking a full three strides to get to the basket. Bugs the heck out of me that traveling is not called.

Trump Jokes About ‘Backdating’ NCAA Picks After Skipping Bracket

Dylan Gwinn 23 Mar 2025

President Trump had fun with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy on Friday, when he suggested he should “backdate” his picks after not entering his NCAA March Madness bracket in time.

Trump spoke with reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before setting off for Philadelphia to attend the NCAA Men’s Wrestling Championships. During the informal presser, Fox’s Peter Doocy asked Trump if he had filled out an NCAA March Madness bracket.

“President Trump, did you fill out an NCAA March Madness Bracket?” Doocy asked.

“I didn’t, I should have. Have there been upsets, a couple, right?” Trump replied.

Doocy asked, “Too late now?”

Trump then suggested he could do a “backdated” filing.

“A little bit late,” Trump admitted. “I should give you one, but maybe backdate it, right?”

Well hard to celebrate anything, when all I did was pick the top seats.... So now down to the final 8 and we will probable have some upsets. All the number ones are still going, Houston squeaked by tonight with a last second layup... Some #1 vs #2 coming up soon...

ESPN by Pete Thamel 3/29/2025

With 2.8 seconds remaining and the score tied in a Sweet 16 game Friday, Houston coach Kelvin Sampson called a clever baseline inbounds play that will long be replayed on March highlight reels.

Cougars wing Milos Uzan inbounded the ball to forward Joseph Tugler about 8 feet from the basket. Tugler, immediately realizing that Purdue guard Braden Smith fled his spot guarding the inbounder, dropped a quick pass back to the unguarded Uzan, who leaped unimpeded to the basket and laid the ball in.

The shot delivered No. 1 Houston to a 62-60 win over the No. 4 Boilermakers. It was give, go, layin and win for one of this NCAA tournament's most memorable moments.

"That was beautiful," Uzan said of the way the play unfolded. "Especially in a moment like this, Sweet 16 to go to the Elite Eight."

The winning shot capped a 22-point night for Uzan, gave Sampson one of the signature wins of his career and propelled the top-seeded Cougars to a matchup with No. 2 Tennessee on Sunday. For a Houston program that has reached six consecutive Sweet 16s, the moment will resonate as one of the most indelible amid a gilded run for the program.

"Given the stakes, given what was at play here, given the fact that we've been in this moment two consecutive years and couldn't quite get over the hump," Houston assistant coach Kellen Sampson said.

Houston squandered a 10-point lead in the final eight minutes, as Purdue tied the score with a Camden Heide 3-pointer with 35 seconds left. It came on a sweet dish from Smith, who finished with 15 assists, and only because Tugler cheated off Heide in the corner to leave him open.

Kudos to my alma mater for squeaking out the win.  The NBA Rockets are doing great also, 2nd in the West.

Well seems picking the top seats was the thing to do... Surprised my picks all made it thus far... I picked Florida to take the ring... but honestly don't have a clue...Next round guessing would be Duke vs Florida if I had to guess. I hope my Auburn Tigers prove me wrong but they just play with emotion and how long can you sustain it?

You got me wondering if the use of "seat" instead of "seed" is a regional thing...like soda vs pop.

At first thought it was the audio to print app you're using and you merely have a lisp
.      tipping hat!!

You got me, it is "seed" not "seat"... never realized the difference. I just always heard "seat" when listening and running it through my southern filter of a noggin. I don't have a audio to text program, I don't even have a modern cell phone. I just have the wife call and hand me the phone if needed on the road. I am a desktop fan. I still use old fashion road maps and not GPS.

But that said, I did pick all 4 #1 teams to be here... Whether my streak of picks continues, well I hope I am wrong (I don't bet, only pick), being an Auburn fan... I do like the big fellow from Duke and think Florida when it gets going can be near impossible to stop... IF the big Broome from Auburn is healthy, he is a factor. Houston squeaker game was a fun one to watch.

I did chuckle at the "smack-talk" of renaming Lake Michigan to "Gulf of Auburn". Ouch !

When I was into basketball, when watching the Big Dance I had a very scientific method.

I picked which mascot would beat the other. And..it usually worked!

All #1 seeds in the Final Four.  Bor-ing.

Now Now Hoodat, when your Bama-Bing gets ranked in the top 5 year after year in football, is it boring?
