So now LA county is suing Edison Power to hold them responsible for the destruction.

So now electricity is going to be even more expensive and they'll turn it off every time the wind blows.

California is going to have a hard time with that since their PUC prohibited power cut offs due to the high winds.

California Residents Slam Insurance Companies Over Lack of Support After Wildfires

Elizabeth Weibel 25 Mar 2025

Residents in California are criticizing insurance companies over the lack of support they have been receiving, months after the Los Angeles area wildfires occurred.

Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Joel Pollak and his wife, Julia, told CBS News that while they had managed to save their home, they “might lose it anyways” because what their insurance company is “offering to repair it is so low.”

While the Pollak’s have a policy that “covers $1 million for contents replacement and $1.3 million for structure replacement,” they accused their insurance company of “playing this game of musical adjusters” as a way to “buy time and put pressure on the claimants.”

“Having saved the house with my bare hands, we might lose it anyways because what they are offering to repair it is so low,” Joel explained.

Per the outlet, “thousands of insured homeowners” have expressed frustration that not only are they getting the “runaround to even get any support,” but that their insurance companies are “being stingy” with what homeowners “are rightfully owed.”:

It’s a frustration we are hearing from thousands of insured homeowners that their insurance companies are not only being stingy with what they are rightfully owed, but also just the runaround to even get any support after surviving these intense wildfires. So much so that even if their house is still standing, residents feel like they can’t afford a home to come back to.

Since the Pollaks saved their home from the wildfires at the beginning of this year, they have continued “to fight” with their insurance company and have “gone through three adjusters with State Farm.”

Glad I got out of the Property Damage claims adjusting gig.  Never had a fire or weather damage claim where the Insured didn't try to pad his claim with upgrades.  Contents adjusting was easier because you had an itemized inventory list of the damaged items.

State Farm can solve that problem by leaving the state. Doing so will reduce the insurance costs for the rest of the country.

I had a fire in 2013, gutted the upper floor between actual fire damage, heat, and smoke. State Farm stood by us, putting us up in a suite at a motel, providing meals, etc, until the repairs were made (with an oil boom going on, and the building boom with it, finding a contractor was a b*tch). They did right by us, and the ensuing year's homeowner's insurance premiums have only gone up by a couple hundred dollars (annually) in the intervening ten years, during which they replaced the roof which was damaged by severe hail.

While service depends on the adjusters in an area to some extent, I have no complaints whatsoever.

It would be interesting to see what California considers to be "abusive practices".

Gavin Newsom Tries to Blame Trump for California Wildfires; Still Wants Trump to Sign $40 Billion for Fire Relief
Gavin Newsom Tries to Blame Trump for California Wildfires; Still Wants Trump to Sign $40 Billion for Fire Relief

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) tried to blame President Donald Trump for the spread of wildfires across the state on Wednesday, claiming National Guard soldiers had been pulled from firefighting to stop riots.

Joel B. Pollak18 Jun 2025, 7:42 PM PDT

Newsom made the accusation while still seeking $40 billion in federal relief funds for California in the next congressional spending bill, which Trump would have to sign into law after passage by a Republican majority.

There are currently eight wildfires burning in California, with evacuations ordered near Sacramento and San Diego.

A statement from Newsom’s office said:

As multiple fires burn across the state today, a critical firefighting resource is short-staffed due to President Trump’s illegal federalization of California’s National Guard troops.

CAL FIRE crews responding to the Monte Fire in San Diego have had to fill in gaps left by a California National Guard (CalGuard) Joint Task Force Rattlesnake team that is understaffed due to the federalization of some of its members.

Task Force Rattlesnake is made up of over 300 California National Guard members, who work at the direction of CAL FIRE to help fight and prevent fires. More than half of that team has been diverted to Los Angeles as part of President Trump’s illegal federalization of the Guard.

Questions Surround $100 Million in ‘Fire Aid’ for Los Angeles

Joel B. Pollak 20 Jul 2025

Questions are being raised about how the roughly $100 million raised by “Fire Aid” concerts in the aftermath of the Los Angeles fires earlier this year is being spent — with some claiming victims are receiving nothing.

The star-studded bill for the benefit concert, held on two separate stages, raised a massive sum. But many residents of the Pacific Palisades and Malibu (Palisades Fire), and of Altadena and Pasadena (Eaton Fire), say they have not benefited.

There have been two significant local investigations by local news outlets, each of which came to different — though not necessarily contradictory — conclusions about Fire Aid’s money.

The first, by ABC affiliate KABC-7, concluded that the money was being well-spent — on organizations:

Roughly 120 organizations split $50 million when the first round of FireAid funds was released in February. 7 On Your Side tried reaching out to every single one of them, and heard back from more than 50 to find out how the money is being used.

    …

The Pasadena Humane Society used $250,000 from FireAid to treat and house pets burned and left homeless by the flames.

Heal the Bay received $100,000 and used it to test for contaminants along our coast.

However, Circling the News, as highlighted by local Fox affiliate KTTV,  found that few victims had benefited:

JUST IN: Dems Embroiled In Scandal After Getting Caught Funneling ‘Aid’ For Fire Victims To Lefty Groups

Published 38 minutes ago

on July 22, 2025

By Mark Steffen

A star-studded concert that reported raising around $100 million for victims of the fires that rocked Los Angeles earlier this year suddenly has little to report months later, and it’s unclear whether any of that money actually made it to the thousands of victims.

Investigative reporter Sue Pascoe uncovered that much of the money, raised at the behest of California’s biggest Democrats, was quietly funneled to a plethora of nonprofits that reported giving little if any direct aid to residents who lost their homes, belongings, and loved ones in the record-breaking fires. She told the city’s Fox affiliate that the story began with a simple request from a reader who asked how to apply for fire aid money.

“There’s 12,000 people, 12,000 homes gone. Those people probably want to know where the money is,” said Pascoe, who also lost her home in the blaze.

After contacting the Annenberg Foundation, which oversees the distribution of fire relief, Pascoe said she initially received nothing but silence after multiple calls and emails.

Two weeks later, a staff member directed her to Chris Wallace, the foundation’s spokesperson.

“I said victims want to know when they can get their money. He said basically, they don’t. All this money [is] going toward nonprofits,” Pascoe told a shocked news anchor. “And the nonprofits will take care of making sure the money’s distributed.”

Around 120 nonprofits received portions of the first $50 million raised by the Annenberg Foundation. Of those, two groups stated on their websites that they focused on delivering fire aid to residents of mobile home parks.

California wildfire victims left wondering where $100M went following FireAid benefit concert
Money directed to 188 non-profits instead of direct payments
By William La Jeunesse Fox News
Published July 25, 2025 4:31pm EDT

The star-studded benefit concert that raised more than $100 million dollars for wildfire victims in California is itself under fire for how the money was spent.

"I have not seen any benefit from the FireAid money, and I am very involved here and neither have my neighbors," said David Howard, who lost two homes in Pacific Palisades.

FireAid billed itself as "a benefit concert for wildfire victims." Aside from music by the likes of Lady Gaga, Jelly Roll, Katy Perry and Olivia Rodrigo, the five-hour show featured multiple stories from victims of the Altadena and Palisades fire who'd lost their homes.

"My house is gone," Altadena fire victim Mark Jones told the audience. Six months later, Jones told Fox 11 in Los Angeles he expected someone to reach out and provide help, but that didn't happen. Did Jones believe he would receive money? "I did, and I am sure with most Altadenians. The fire aid was for us. So, we figured where is the money? Where is it going?"

Fox News asked that question Wednesday of FireAid and the Annenberg Foundation, which helped put the concert together.

Did any non-profits receive money? If so, how much did each receive?
How many fire victims received aid?
How much aid or financial assistance was paid to the victims?
What accounting practices were adopted to prevent FireAid money from being co-mingled with other operating funds among those non-profits receiving money?

We have yet to receive a response, but officials acknowledged receiving our inquiry.

The FireAid website says the concert raised an estimated $100 million designated for "direct relief".

During the concert, host and actor Miles Teller told viewers "all the money raised will go directly to people who need it now and long-term efforts to build it back."

Trump reignites feud with Newsom over California FireAid funds
by Filip Timotija - 07/26/25 8:11 AM ET

President Trump has seemingly reignited his feud with California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) over proceeds from the California FireAid concert, arguing that $100 million in donations intended for Los Angeles residents who were affected by the January fires is “missing.”

“‘FIREAID’ IS A TOTAL DISASTER. LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER DEMOCRAT INSPIRED SCAM. 100 MILLION DOLLARS IS MISSING. WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE LOS ANGELES FIRE VICTIMS, FIRES THAT, WITH PROPER MANAGEMENT, WOULD NEVER HAVE EVEN HAPPENED. GOVERNOR NEWSCUM REFUSED TO RELEASE BILLIONS OF GALLONS OF WATER FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, AND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST,” Trump wrote Friday evening on Truth Social.

“WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT WOULD HAVE MADE,” he added.

FireAid was a one-night concert described as an event to raise money for residents that lost their homes during the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles earlier this year. The fundraising concert featured stars such as Olivia Rodrigo, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, along with some victims of the Palisades and Altadena blazes.

The distribution of the funds has come under scrutiny.

FireAid raised around $100 million so far, according to the event’s website.

In a statement to the city’s Fox affiliate, the charity said it does not “have the capability to make direct payments to individuals and that was never the plan. We partnered directly with trusted local non-profits…to reach communities in need.”
