Governor Newsom deploys an additional 1,000 California National Guard service members to Los Angeles fires
What you need to know: Governor Gavin Newsom today announced an additional 1,000 California National Guard service members are joining the all-in state response to the Los Angeles fires.

Los Angeles, California – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced he has increased California National Guard personnel activated to support the response efforts to a total of about 2,500 service members – up 1,000 personnel from yesterday. CalGuard service members are fighting fires and ensuring the public safety of communities, joining the thousands of personnel deployed to combat the hurricane-force firestorm in Los Angeles.

The men and women of the California National Guard have been on the ground since day one – not only fighting fires, but also assisting with public safety efforts in communities devastated by these fires. We thank them for their efforts to keep our communities safe.

Governor Gavin Newsom


Deployed CalGuard service members include Military Police Forces, the law enforcement branch of the CalGuard, stationed at traffic control points to ensure the safety of the surrounding community. Additional service members are supporting wildfire suppression operations, through the CalGuard’s Task Force Rattlesnake, additional handcrews training at Camp Roberts, and aviation resources.

The increased deployment is expected to be complete by Monday.

He's term limited so he won't face the Governor's race again, but I think his hopes for a higher office are gone....

Lawsuit filed against company alleging Eaton Fire began over 'failure to de-energize' overhead wires

 A California law firm filed a complaint against the Southern California Edison Company (SCE) on Monday, accusing the energy company of starting the Eaton Fire.

In a statement, Bridgford, Gleason & Artinian said that it believes the Eaton Fire "was ignited because of SCE’s failure to de-energize its overhead wires which traverse Eaton Canyon."

The firm said that it came to the conclusion after meeting with consultants, reviewing SCE's public statements, analyzing video evidence of the Eaton Fire's origin and its own investigation.

The fire reportedly began "despite a red flag PDS wind warning issued by the national weather service the day before the ignition of the fire."

"Our hearts go out to the many victims of this and the other Los Angeles fires," the firm said.

California lawmakers postpone special session to 'Trump-proof' state due to wildfires

California lawmakers, on Monday, postponed a special legislation session scheduled for Tuesday to "Trump-proof" the Gold State ahead of President-elect Trump’s inauguration, due to wildfires devastating the Los Angeles region.

A member of the California Assembly budget office told Fox News Digital the hearing was postponed because of the fires, adding that the chairman of the committee, Assembly Member Jesse Gabriel, is unable to attend the session because he represents areas devastated by the wild infernos.

When asked when the session would be rescheduled before Trump is inaugurated on Jan. 20, the budget office said the new date is still "up in the air."

It was scheduled weeks before the fire, but maybe the Dems realized that legislating anti-Trump measures while LA was suffering wild fires was not a great look.
