Barcode Prefix (GS1 Country Code): The first few digits of a barcode (typically the first 2-3 digits in a UPC or EAN barcode) indicate the country where the barcode was registered, not necessarily where the product was manufactured. For example:
USA and Canada: Barcodes starting with 000–139 are registered in the USA or Canada.
China: Barcodes starting with 690–699 are registered in China.
However, this only tells you where the company registered the barcode, not where the product was physically made. A product with a US barcode could still be manufactured in China if a US-based company registered the barcode.
