Just sent this to my Congressman:

Quote
Congressman Strong,

I understand that there are thirty GOP House members who have come out against the 1,547 page Continuing Resolution Spending Bill.  I am curious as to why your name is not on that list.  Our current budget deficit and overall debt is the number one threat to our nation's future.  It is time that you begin taking this seriously.  The people of this country rose up to put Republicans in power.  And it is the utmost betrayal to subject them to another $110 billion on top of the $500 billion of deficit spending already present in that 3-month funding bill.  House Republicans have had two years to submit a budget.  Yet here you are voting again to continue Pelosi's 2022 spending (plus everything else added since then).

America has spoken.  North Alabama has spoken.  If you are not willing to do the people's will and live within your means, then please step aside so that we can get real representation for the people here that you seem to have forgotten about.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., while speaking at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., called out House Republicans for breaking a bipartisan agreement .  .  .

Praise G-d!

.  .  . to fund the government and avoid a government shutdown, accusing them of hurting everyday Americans across the country.

And there it is.  The Shutdown boogeyman.  For once, Republicans should call their bluff.  Submit CR, but include $100 billion in spending CUTS instead of increases.  Then watch Democrats vote it down, and blame them for the shutdown (which is a win-win).

How about Vivek for House Speaker?

I've been leery of Vivek, but Johnson has to go.

The gov't hasn't done squat to help those affected by the hurricanes -- so are we to believe that any $$ will actually be distributed to them if this bill is passed???

Doubtful.

Trump and Pence should have done this $hit in 2016 w/Boehner.
It took Cruz to take that ba$tard down.

This is interesting.  Even though Matt Gaetz resigned, he is still the congressman-elect for his district.  He can still be sworn in on Jan 5.  And since the Ethics panel decided to release its report anyway, he can propose a bill to release the names of everyone utilizing hush fund cash.

Compare their "COLA" to the pennies they threw to Social Security recipients. Their raise is over three times the average annual payout to social security recipients.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
