NBC Anchor Caught Deceptively Altering the 14th Amendment in Trump Interview

NBC "Meet the Press" host Kristen Welker left out a key portion of the Fourteenth Amendment when she challenged President-elect Donald Trump on his plans to end so-called birthright citizenship by executive order.

In the interview, which aired Sunday, Welker asked, "You promised to end birthright citizenship on day one. Is that still your plan?"
 
"Yeah, absolutely," Trump responded.

"The Fourteenth Amendment though says that 'All persons born in the United States are citizens.' Can you get around the Foourteenth Amendment with an executive action?" Welker followed up.

Currently, when illegal aliens have children in the country, federal policy has been to recognize them as U.S. citizens.

"Well, we're going to have to get a change," Trump answered Welker.

Nice to see Trump getting so characteristically off base so very quickly.  Once again, this is a harbinger of another self-defeating administration.

Obviously he himself can't change the 14th amendment and he acknowledged that amendment would need to be changed. That's going to be very difficult. Then on the other hand he mentions granting amnesty to DACA recipients.

He did mention since we subsidize Mexico and Canada that they might as well become states .... yes perhaps he was stating his opposition to subsidizing but to me it's still concerning that there was mention of making them states. Yet deportations is what he ran on ... I don't recall focus on a wall this time around though I didn't listen to or watch every rally.

Perhaps the greatest concern is him embracing DeFi which refers to a decentralized finance; a system of applications that aim to recreate traditional financial instruments with cryptocurrency. Both Vance and his sons are heavily invested in crypto.  So what does that mean for the dollar, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and gold??

Trump is notorious for backpedaling and for explaining 'what he meant' to say. We should all know that by now.

I do expect significant changes with Trump but I don't see some of what he's saying right now in a very positive light.

Still, there are some positives on the horizon; lower inflation and energy independence.

He hasn't even been sworn in yet so to assess that he's going to be a failure is quite premature and I'm thankful Harris won't be at the helm.

I'm looking forward to his inauguration and all the festivities!

I listened again to the video -- and he does mention if we are going to subsidize them (Mexico and Canada) let them become states.

I hope I am reading more into what he said then what he may have actually meant??

l love to see the lib heads explode and this is giving them another opportunity.

I'm hoping that this time around we will see some legislation actually pass rather than Trump ruling by executive orders.
