Trump: I Will Start Pardoning January 6 Rioters My First Day in Office

Pam Key 8 Dec 2024

President-elect Donald Trump said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he was planning to pardon those involved in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 as soon as his first day in office.

Host Kristen Welker said, “I asked the President-elect if he plans to follow through on his campaign promise to pardon those who attacked the Capitol on January 6, including the more than 900 people who pleaded guilty to a crime.”

Trump said, “I’m going to look at everything. We’ll look at individual cases. But I’m going to be acting very quickly.”

Welker said, “Within your first 100 days, first day?”

Trump said, “First day.”

Welker said, “First day?”

He added, “Yeah, I’m looking first day. These people have been there. How long has it been? Three or four years, OK? By the way, they’ve been in there for years, and they’re in a filthy, disgusting place that shouldn’t even be allowed to be open.”

In a recent Meet the Press interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, President-elect Donald Trump took a firm stance on immigration reform, emphasizing his plans to address systemic issues in the U.S. immigration system. From ending birthright citizenship to tackling the complexities of the Dreamer population, Trump outlined a bold vision that aligns with his America First approach.

Yes. No more anchor babies. SCOTUS should rule on the 14th Amendment. Illegal Aliens are having babies just to stay in the United States

Birthright citizenship in America exists at present because of a SCOTUS interpretation of the 14th amendment that came 30 years after its passage.

To end birthright citizenship, today's SCOTUS need only reverse that decision with a new ruling.

No new amendment is needed.

The 14th Amendment applied to freed slaves. I don't believe the offspring of someone voluntarily coming to the USA illegally would be entitled to the same benefit.

Folks, we’ve got some big news coming out of President Trump’s first post-election interview with NBC. In a move that’s sparking discussions far and wide, President Trump has dropped a bombshell proposal that could change the face of North America aIn a groundbreaking post-election interview with NBC, President Donald Trump took the nation by storm with his proposal to make Mexico and Canada the 51st and 52nd states of the United States. Here’s the context: “We are subsidizing Canada to the tune of over a hundred billion dollars a year. We’re subsidizing Mexico for almost $300 billion,” Trump stated. His argument? If the U.S. is going to subsidize these countries, why not bring them into the fold as states?

Better yet, just cut them off, cold turkey.  These countries have been benefitting from us for long enough.

They shouldn't be granted voting rights.

As they exist today, I would classify them as liberal shtholes.

Mexico has a serious drug problem, and if we think our government is corrupt, well...

As for Canada, their gun laws, their speech rules, etc. are just incompatible with the constitution.

Maybe as territories...

I watched the video -- so the above article is true, and it turns out that my concerns may have been warranted and now there is nothing such as re-election concerns to stop Trump or to keep him in check. One thing I was very concerned about while Trump was campaigning for his first term in office was the possibility of him creating a North American Union (NAU). In fact I mentioned it in this forum several times during his campaign.  It's not the first time this idea has surfaced as it was a concern during W's administration and I am absolutely opposed to the idea; my stance on both the NAU, the NAFTA superhighway and ILLEGAL immigration hasn't changed a bit!

In fact this very concern was why I was so supportive of Ted Cruz.

Years ago, Ron Paul drafted legislation against a NAU and IIRC Rick Perry was pushing for a NAFTA superhighway/trans Texas corridor connecting Mexico, the United States and Canada.  This is one reason IMHO that the wall has never been built; continued consideration of a NAU.

Keep in mind in order to connect Mexico and the United States would indeed mean amnesty for millions that are already here.  What happened to mention of the wall during his recent campaign and what about the deportations??   So slight of hand here??

NO! NO! and NO!  However, according to this article the NAU may be coming!

And as far as MX goes, just think of all the spending on infrastructure that would be needed and all of the people who would qualify for welfare. It would destroy the US.

@LadyLiberty I have revised my post a bit as Trump certainly did not allude to this during his rallies.

It was one thing that I was quite opposed to and why I voted for Cruz in the primaries.

This is all predicated on Trump's comment that indeed he wants Mexico and Canada as states; and I'm not sure that is what he meant.

I listened again to the video -- and he does mention if we are going to subsidize them (Mexico and Canada) let them become states.

I hope I am reading more into what he said then what he may have actually meant??

I  agree. Despite some cultural similarities between Canada and the US, there are some staggering differences as well. Farther South, the same applies to Mexico. Best to remain distinct national entities.

People. Please.  He wasn't serious.  Good grief.   Have you all lost your minds. Seriously

C'mon, man!

I have long mused over taking from the westernmost continental divide to the easternmost, from the Bay of Campeche to Hudson's Bay and calling it "America" and letting the rest find a new name for a long time...

In jest, of course...
sorta.

We'll see how all of this unfolds.

Another one of Trump's comment on deportations:

....An exception might be the “Dreamers” — people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children and have lived here for years. He voiced openness toward a legislative solution that would allow them to remain in the country...........

NBC Under Fire For Stunt Pulled During Trump Interview: ‘Those Words Matter’

Trending Politics News
By Mark Steffen
December 9, 2024

Republican U.S. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is calling out NBC News for selectively querying President-elect Donald Trump during a recent interview about his commitment to removing birthright citizenship after taking office.

In a fiery social media post, Lee accused the network of “selectively omitting” parts of the 14th Amendment in order to make it appear like he was ready to ride roughshod over it, which enshrined birthright citizenship into the Constitution. On “Meet the Press” Sunday, Trump called birthright citizenship “ridiculous” and promised to end it “on Day One,” prompting pushback from NBC host Kristen Welker. The 14th Amendment “states all persons in the United States are citizens. Can you get around the 14th Amendment with executive action?” she asked, Fox News reported. Trump replied that the U.S. is “the only country has it” and “we have to end it.”

Sen. Lee expounded on the amendment’s wording in a post on X. “All persons born … in the United States, *and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,* shall be citizens of the United States,” Lee wrote on X, highlighting the missing words in asterisks. “Those words matter.” He continued his argument in a lengthy thread.

Doesn't Trump also want Greenland, too?  Does Greenland have any golf resorts?  Maybe it's time it had one.

The purpose of the 14th Amendment was preventing sates from denying civil rights and citizens' rights to freed slaves and their descendants.

It was not meant to provide a means for illegal immigrants to give birth to anchor babies that would be the basis for subsequent family chain migration.

You're not wrong.

Trump is just highlighting how wrong it is for the USA to subsidize countries and see no return on the investment. Although if we could take Alberta and give Canada New England I would like that.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Funny how the FedGov has plenary power when it comes to allowing open borders, but suddenly these blue states find all these new rights and powers when anyone tries to close it and deport the ones let in.

If they want to invest in those insurrectionist polices, I'd activate their national guard to shut down any 'resistance' i.e. lawbreaking on the part of state officials.
The Republic is lost.
