I'm sure we all can remember our childhoods, when our mothers let us walk all over the neighborhood as long as we were back by dinnertime. Whenever we visited our grandparents, then living in a small WV town, we'd wander around for hours, going "downtown" to the 5&10 to buy baseball cards, then to the park to climb on the WWI gun (we called it a cannon; not sure what it was) or go to an American Legion baseball game. Good grief. It's no wonder the youngest generations are such snowflakes and delicate fleurs.
As an aside, I mapped out the route I walked to school back in the day: 1.8 miles each way. Oh, the humanity!!
