Senate Dems are furiously debating whether to pressure US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, a 70-year-old diabetic, into resigning so they can try to confirm another jurist before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, a new report says.

Members of the upper chamber’s Democratic caucus broached the sensitive topic after Trump’s electoral landslide Tuesday, according to Politico.

But at least some of the senators are loath to publicly leak the notion or even privately urge Sotomayor, a solid liberal vote on the high court and its first Hispanic justice, to leave her post over potential health issues, the report said.

This is an example of one of the BIG lies told by democrats, that they put people first.  How many commercials was I treated to with Kamala saying she comes from humble beginnings and was a champion of the middle class.  If they are willing to trash a Supreme Court Justice to maintain power, can anyone believe they give a shit about the middle class? **nononono*

Just a thought, but...

Suppose Sotomayor did resign.

Could biden then appoint someone DIRECTLY to the Court (no confirmation hearings or vote, etc.) by way of a "recess appointment" during the Thanksgiving or Christmas recesses?

I believe there have been recess appointments to the Supreme Court before...

Yes, Biden (or any other President) could make a recess appointment to the Supreme Court, but the Justice appointed would not have life tenure.  A recess appointment only lasts until the end of the next Senate session. To remain on the court beyond that the appointee would need to go through the usual nomination and confirmation process. 

So it would be rather pointless for Biden to make a recess appointment unless there were cases to be heard before the next Senate session.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.
