Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets report that Ukrainian forces are launching a counterattack on the eastern part of the Kursk bridgehead

He shared the information on Espreso TV.

"In the Kursk region, fighting is ongoing. On February 6, Russian public forums erupted over Ukraine's counterattack. Ukrainian forces have held this foothold for six months, which has reduced in size, but during this time, Russia has deployed 60,000 troops there.

Nearly 40,000 Russian soldiers have been eliminated, with 16,000 killed and the rest wounded. Over 100 tanks and 600 armored vehicles have also been destroyed. This shows that this area has become a focal point for many Russian, more or less combat-capable units that Russia is redirecting to this front," explained Zgurets.

According to the director of Defense Express, the Ukrainian defense on the Kursk front is holding a 500 sq. km area.

"There is a northern, western, and eastern part. In the northern part, the Russians cannot advance, the western part protects the route from Sudzha to Sumy. The eastern part is where Ukrainian forces are currently counterattacking to expand the zone  .  .  .

Ukraine advances 5km behind Russian lines in new Kursk offensive

Geolocated combat footage shows Kyiv’s forces operating further behind enemy lines than previously thought

Ukrainian forces have advanced up to five kilometres behind Russian lines in a fresh assault on the Kursk border region, footage suggests.

Kyiv’s troops launched a counter-attack against Russian forces in the region at the start of the year, with hundreds of soldiers and dozens of armoured vehicles advancing on enemy lines south-east of Sudzha.

Now, geolocated combat footage has shown that Ukraine’s forces are operating further behind enemy lines than previously known.

Ukraine first launched its surprise invasion of the Russian border region in August last year, seizing around 500 square miles of Russian territory.

Moscow’s troops are thought to have taken about 57 per cent of the territory back, but Kyiv has carried out waves of attacks in an attempt to regain control of the region.

The recent geolocated footage, captured by Russian drones, showed Ukrainian troops advancing across snow-covered countryside near Makhnovka and Cherkasskaya Konopelka.  .  .

A pro-Western protest movement in Slovakia that has been galvanized by the pro-Moscow trajectory of Prime Minister Robert Fico widened on Friday, with an estimated 110,000 people attending evening demonstrations in 41 towns in the country and another 13 cities across Europe.

Crowds were estimated at 42,000-45,000 in the capital of Bratislava, and at more than 20,000 in the eastern Slovak city of Košice, according to SafetyCrew, an event safety consultancy.

Unlike previous demonstrations, this week’s unrest also rocked smaller rural towns that until now have been bastions of support for the ruling leftist-populist Smer party.

Milo Janáč, 49, told POLITICO that he had been returning to his home town of Gelnica (pop. 6,202) by train two weeks ago from a protest in Bratislava when a newspaper interview caught his eye. In it, teacher Eva Wolfová explained that “it’s no big thing to have 50,000 people demonstrating in Bratislava and 15,000 in Košice. But the moment they get 300 people protesting in Gelnica, it’s all over [for the Fico government].”

Gelnica, an impoverished mining town settled in the 13th century by ethnic Germans from Bavaria, lies in the Slovak Ore Mountains  .  .  .

Looks like a classic "Pincer".

For the Pincer to succeed UKF would need superior numbers of infantry, armor, artillery, and drones (ISR & FPV).

My guess is that Ukraine have better ISR drone coverage and have massed the necessary troops & equipment. Ukraine would also know the ruzzian "Order of Battle".

What will pootin do...add troops & equipment or withdraw?

My guess is that pootin will forbid withdrawal and send additional troops & equipment. UKF will anticipate pootin's actions and will be positioned to attack the new troops & equipment with artillery & FPV drones.
