Ukrainian Forces Strike Russian Command Post in Khartsyzk, Donetsk Region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a precision strike on the command post of Russia’s 8th Guards Combined Arms Army, located in the city of Khartsyzk in the Donetsk region.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 8 on their official Telegram account.

“This facility was seized by occupying Russian armed forces to coordinate attacks against Ukrainian Armed Forces and civilians, especially in Kurakhove. All necessary measures were taken to limit the risk to civilians,” the General Staff wrote without providing any further details for the moment.  .  .

I am seeing a lot of x.com blog post videos showing UKF tanks attacking ruzzian infantry, vehicles, and buildings.

This would indicate that Ukraine has developed anti-drone (FPV) EW, as well as the ability to locate and destroy ruzzian ISR drones as well as ruzzian loitering kamikaze drones.

"If autocrats conclude that democracies will lose their nerve, surrender their interests, and forget their principles, we will only see more land grabs. If tyrants learn that aggression pays, we will only invite even more aggression, chaos, and war."

The Tu-160 is the 1970s vintage, supersonic, "Backfire" bomber. That its still in service means that it was/is reasonably successful, and probably has been modernized/upgraded. Pinching off its fuel supply is a good thing.

Re Serbia's decision, Russia's weapons have been covering themselves with something odoriferous rather than glory, especially AA systems.

Has Russia gotten away from their air force's anti-bomber, ground-controlled intercept mindset? The USAF started in the 1970s (or 1960s?) moving on toward a multi-role air warfare model that took advantage of technology, training, and pilot initiative.

Germany phased out the Gepard in 2010, but in the era of drones, the radar-controlled quad 35 mm cannon could be pretty handy. Drones are relatively low cost, but the 35 mm shells probably lower still.
