Georgia residents left devastated by destructive Hurricane Helene were told by Vice President Kamala Harris that they could get a few hundred dollars to help in the immediate aftermath of the deadly storm.

Harris and the Biden administration came under heavy fire for adding insult to injury for those who’ve lost possessions, homes, and even loved ones after the monster storm slammed Florida as a Category 4 hurricane.

The Democratic presidential nominee arrived in Georgia for her photo-op and a stunning reminder of the administration’s concerns and priorities were evident days after former President Donald Trump rolled through storm-ravaged areas to survey the damage.

Harris toured Augusta and spoke with Mayor Garnett Johnson after a briefing from local officials at the Augusta Utilities offices.

“I’m here today to thank all of those who are working to get folks the help they so desperately need and deserve,” Harris said after a close-up look at the damage.

She touted the administration’s efforts to help those in desperate need, reminding families who have essentially lost everything that they can look forward to $750 from the federal government.

If you get off the rw misinformation sites the people on the ground are saying FEMA is doing  a great job and started cordininating a response days before Helena even hit land.

FEMA said they arre under funded due to all the disasters/floods/wildfires/tornadoes we have had the last few years and yet the Republicans in the worst hit states voted against additional funding.

Just spoke to a friend of mine in law enforcement in NC...he said that they have, and I quote: "Already used over 500 body bags, and there are bodies in trees, mud, cars, houses, everywhere...No Fed support whatsoever."

One final moment Grandparents found hugging one another after fallen tree killed them in their SC home during Hurricane Helene



As Hurricane Helene roared outside, the wind howling and branches snapping, John Savage went to his grandparents’ bedroom to make sure they were OK.

“We heard one snap and I remember going back there and checking on them,” the 22-year-old said of his grandparents, Marcia, 74, and Jerry, 78, who were lying in bed. “They were both fine, the dog was fine.”

But not long after, Savage and his father heard a “boom” — the sound of one of the biggest trees on the property in Beech Island, South Carolina, crashing on top of his grandparents’ bedroom and killing them.

“All you could see was ceiling and tree,” he said. “I was just going through sheer panic at that point.”

John Savage said his grandparents were found hugging one another in the bed, adding that the family thinks it was God’s plan to take them together, rather than one suffer without the other.

Joe Biden's Dawdling in Ordering Federal Troops for Disaster Relief Is Incompetent, Malicious, or Both

These 1,000 troops will constitute the overwhelming majority of the federal military disaster response in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.

According to the Department of Defense, the federal military involvement in this five-state catastrophe is minimal.

    A joint enabling team (I won't make jokes; I'm sure what they do is vital).
    A liaison to the federal search and rescue coordination group in Orlando, Florida. (I'm not sure if this is a liaison team or a liaison officer.)
    A "mission assignment support team" was created to embed with the National Response Coordination Center in Washington, DC.
    The US Army Corps of Engineers is providing emergency power planning and response teams to Georgia, dam, levee, and bridge inspection to Tennessee and Kentucky, and temporary power to North Carolina. (The "temporary power to North Carolina" item apparently involves consulting with utilities on restoring power.)
    A command and control team for "high water vehicles and air operations support for rotary wing aircraft" was created at Fort Bragg.
    Four helicopters with pararescue teams are at McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee.
    On Monday, eight Army helicopters and ten Navy helicopters were available at Fort Bragg.
    Thirty high-water vehicles are at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, for reasons that are unclear.

The critical resources needed in the hardest hit areas of Western North Carolina are helicopters for getting stranded people out of danger and bringing supplies to areas cut off by flooding. As of Wednesday afternoon, the only military aircraft available are 11 from Florida, two from South Carolina, seven from Tennessee, and one from Virginia. Some of those may be in use in North Carolina as both Florida and South Carolina have sent National Guard contingents to North Carolina.

Funding always comes with strings attached and conditions of use.


FEMA has been spending millions supporting illegals, and when there is a natural disaster (as opposed to the created and completely artificial one at the border) they drop the ball. Again.

While in theory, having the assets and abilities on a national scale available to help seems like a good idea, centralized control of such necessary assets in an emergency has several things which impede getting the job done vs the locals.
FEMA doesn't know the territory and the special needs and hazards of the locale.
Locals know the terrain, the population, the culture, the weaknesses and strengths of the infrastructure and the local assets still available and can best direct volunteer assets to fill the gaps and know where those assets can be utilized to best effect.
FEMA will approach with a one-size-fits all checklist and gobs of red tape which will hinder getting the job done rather than expedite matters.

We're seeing this unfold in real time, and unfortunately for those in distress, getting the supply of water for this week on Friday Afternoon just doesn't cut it. They should be assigning sectors to volunteer drone or helicopter assets and let them do their job. Give each of them a separate LZ and approach vector to their area of operations and that should avoid accidents. Establish a control common channel on the radios and have it manned 24/7 until the crisis is past.
That way all assets could be coordinated for greatest effect. Having to CONTROL, rather than COORDINATE actually hampers efforts and will result in additional deaths.

...unless, of course, additional and unnecessary deaths are the goal..

I trust what Beck says; normally what he states turns out to be true, more times than not.

He did report during the Afghanistan debacle that they went in with planes, had them load up with people to take them to safety only for the gov't to order them to unload.  This turned out to be true and others reported the same. 

I expect no different from the gov't in this disaster.

Helicopter pilot threatened with arrest after flying rescue missions in flood-ravaged NC

A South Carolina pilot who flew stranded Hurricane Helene victims in flood-ravaged North Carolina to safety claims he was told he would be arrested if he continued the rescue missions.

Jordan Seidhom was flying victims out of the devastation over the weekend when local leaders told him there was a flight restriction on the area and that they would have to arrest him if he continued making flights.

“There were other victims. As we were flying out leaving the area, we spotted within 300, 400 yards of their location [people] were waving for help as my son and I were leaving,” Seidhom told Queen City News.

After the storm wreaked havoc on the region, leaving hundreds of people stranded as entire roadways washed away, Seidhom read about a family that was stranded without water on a mountain in Banner Elk, a ski town heavily battered by the storm, and knew he had to take action.

“I thought, I have a helicopter, maybe I can help,” he told the outlet.

Seidhom, who once led the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit, and his teenage son Landon flew out bottled water and food to the family on Saturday and decided they would set out to find other people in need of help.

.................Seidhom’s plans to return for the other victim and his son were squashed by an unnamed Lake Lure fire official, who allegedly threatened to have him arrested if he continued picking up stranded victims, Seidhom told the outlet.

“I explained to him that I left my son on the side of the mountain, and I left another victim. I was going to go back and bring them, it was already set up for the landing spot and then I would get out of his area. He told me I wasn’t going to go back up the mountain to get them, I was going to leave them there,” he said. ......................
