Like the USSS we are just another incompetent, inept federal bureacracy.
Flood victims from months and months ago are still waiting for a FEMA response, I understand. The people of NC, GA, etc., need not hold their breath.

I saw a photo the other day of the FEMA director standing at a microphone somewhere in Florida. I doubt there's anything else.

FEMA sending Starlink satellites, search-and-rescue teams to aid Helene’s victims

FYI – North Carolina would have 19,522 working @Starlink kits available today after Hurricane Helene had the FCC not revoked in bad faith the grant that was awarded to SpaceX as the winning bidder.

Starlink was developed by Elon Musk's company. The Biden administration doesn't like that.

Besides the recipients who immediately come to mind (because they're so often in the news) - Ukraine, Israel - this administration just sent $567 million to Taiwan.

Asheville residents battling 'apocalyptic' aftermath of Hurricane Helene after deadly flooding, landslides
At least 30 dead in Asheville, North Carolina area as millions reel from Hurricane Helene
By Bailee Hill Fox News
Published September 30, 2024 11:00am EDT

ne Asheville, North Carolina resident sounded the alarm as his community battles the devastation left by Hurricane Helene, detailing the "apocalyptic weekend" as the death toll continues to rise while millions are left without power and water.

"It's been an incredibly apocalyptic weekend for all of us here," Asheville resident Gregory Harrison said. "Almost no gas. There is almost no cell service. There's limited power. There is limited food. There are people who are trying to find potable water to feed their families, to have water for their kids."

Officials in Asheville are still trying to rescue residents who have been trapped by the historic flooding over the weekend, which has left many without access to power, running water and cell service.

As of Sunday morning, the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) activated more than 500 soldiers and airmen and more than 200 vehicles and aircraft, including hoist and emergency aviation assets as well as high-water response vehicles.

FEMA warns of ‘complicated’ recovery process from Helene’s water damage
By
Callie Patteson

.

As people start to recover from the devastation brought on by Hurricane Helene, officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency are warning it will take a “complicated” response to help the states affected in recent days.

Since Thursday, Helene has wreaked havoc across Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas, leaving dozens dead and millions without power.

Heartbreaking photos and videos show homes and towns completely flooded, with roads turned into waterways, bridges collapsed, the houses even floating away.

Local and state governments have been working tirelessly to conduct search and rescue missions while getting necessary items like food and drinking water to those affected by the storm. As many are also looking to the federal government for help, FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell said recovery will be “complicated.”

“We absolutely have enough resources from across the federal family,” Criswell said during a Sunday appearance on CBS News’s Face the Nation. “FEMA is one part of the team, and we have the ability to bring in all of our team members from many other federal agencies to support this response.”

President Bush visited the area 3 days after the attack on 9-11.

President Trump, Melania, Mike Pence and Karen visited a week after Irma hit.

President Trump visited Louisiana - hurricane Lara

President and Melania Trump visited Florida - hurricane Michael

9-11 is not the same as a natural disaster and it was 3 days later, not the next day

You just  posted above Trump visited A WEEK after Irma hit.
Biden said he is going to visit these area this week.

Show me any natural disaster Trump visited the very next day or even the 2nd day or even  the third when he was President. I will be waiting.

The pastisanship this country has today is poison

Gov. Ron DeSantis says the recovery efforts should be in North Carolina now because Florida is covered. He adds that Florida has been flying rescue missions into NC, which his state is happy to do, but it really should be the federal government doing this:

FEMA's mission is to backfill state and local resources.  FEMA doesn't do the rescuing.  It's every person for themselves.  It's first responders, neighbors, and the kindness of strangers that rescue them.  FEMA shows up later with toxic mobile homes and post-dated out-of-state checks.

Death toll triples in Asheville area after Hurricane Helene guts North Carolina: ‘There were bodies in the trees’
By Jared Downing
Published Sep. 30, 2024, 3:21 p.m. ET

The death toll from catastrophic flooding in the Asheville area of western North Carolina more than tripled on Monday to 35 — as survivors in remote mountain towns described seeing the bodies of victims stuck in trees.

Nationwide, there have been 120 fatalities from Hurricane Helene, which has cut a path of death and destruction across the Southeast since making landfall last Thursday.

The rains smashed the mountains of Buncombe County, which contains Asheville, washing away whole communities in floodwaters and mudslides. Roadways were buried or washed away, leaving victims cut off from rescue crews.

Flooding in Asheville, North Carolina, following Hurricane Helene on Sept. 29, 2024.

“There were bodies in trees. They were finding bodies under rubble,” said Alyssa Hudson, whose home of Black Mountain — a village of 8,400 people about 12 miles from Asheville — was all but washed away.

With entire towns being washed away, I expect the death toll might approach 1000's not dozens.   And we won't know the final tally for likely weeks.

Why hasn't Biden/Harris offered massive national guard help?  There probably are survivors standed and  are in dire need of help. If there ever was an all hands on deck scenario......

What I'm trying to wrap my head around is the fact that there were warnings about this hurricane reaching up into GA for several days and then into NC.  As this hurricane was approaching were there not warnings from the NHC or other weather sources that this hurricane/tropical storm was making it's way to NC?? OR did they not expect it to impact NC???  Possibly they knew but they may have also known there was no way to evacuate that many people in so little time??

I looked it up and geographically Asheville essentially sits in the bottom of a bowl of mountains, with floodwaters from higher elevations headed downhill toward the area. Asheville is settled between two rivers that broke flood records during Helene. The French Broad River, which usually crests around 1 1/2 feet, reached 24.6 feet during the storm. The Swannanoa River went from a crest of around 1 1/2 feet to 26.1.

All in all, yes it was a unprecedented occurrence, but somewhere along the line I would think that there might have been some warning that there was a possibility that there was going to be flooding???

So very sad... bodies found in trees?  They were either slammed against the trees from the water or they climbed trees to try to escape???

Right after the storm formed, I mentioned that the following weeks news would be about flooding.  When a storm that strong and wet decides not to move for 18-24 hours inland,  the flooding is almost always historic.
